there is no conflict, Palpatine said it was a myth just because he couldn't openly say to anakin he was a sith, or anakin would have told to the jedi, like he did lately.
that talk is not a prove that Plagues wasn't his master, it was just a prove that someone named plagues existed ;)

no, if you go to the link you can see they say that the G-canon, T-Canon stuff is not in use since april 2014 ;)
now all novels comics and movies that are not labeled as legends are equally canon :D

You are interpreting what his motivations were, the only facts we know are palpatine says its a myth. if you look at my first post on here i set out a reasonable argument why he is not, have you viewed it?

personally, the film version: it came first, and i liked the idea of there being Sith legends that we'd never heard of. the fact that Palps actually knew Plaggy takes away from that.

well we know many times in star wars people just say what is convenient for them in that moment and not the truth :p
I read it, but I have to disagree with the conclusion, he could have killed Plagues before he learned that secret, maybe because Plagues didn't want to teach that secret to him. It is canon (from lords of the sith) that a Sith apprentice can kill his master if the master desn't do what he must, i.e. teach everything to his apprentice in order to keep alive all the knowledge of the Sith ;) (and a master can kill his apprentice if he doesn't learn or is weak).
thinking more about it, if the apprentice of Plagues did learn how to cheat death, shouldn't it be something that now all Sith that came after him should know? since the master has to teach everything he knows to the apprentice?

I actually have no preference until they explain it and it make sense, for now we just know that one is true, and the other will be like "true from a certain point of view" xD

No. Palpatine is the one who claimed that the story of Darth Plagueis was a legend.
Ironic that Anakin never heard of him? Possibly.
The Cantina belongs to Darth Plagueis = Snoke.

Only now, at the end, do you understand.
    :p
Yes, WE (universal qualifiers are awesome) found Snoke to be interesting, but only because he dropped the name Hego Damask and started using Snoke instead.
The point was: trust Palpatine at your own risk.
THIS = what I would have said.
THIS, works as a replacement if you don't like repeating the same things ad nauseam.
    Hope that helps.:)

I never believed that Darth Plagueis was a myth because I knew that Palpatine was lying, so there was no contradiction to begin with. The only things that have changed with Plagueis since the Expanded Universe went boom is that we no longer know his species or what his fake identity was. Everything else that matters, remains the same... he trained Palpatine, he messed with the force, Anakin was born and Sidious at least attempted to kill him in his sleep. What we don't know is if he stayed dead or not.

    Agreed. (Instead of: THIS.)

And @D-green, I was unaware that Son of Dathomir kicks off the new canon. Interesting.

Having read that, I'm still miffed that story nullified these:

Thats exactly what i said, yes i agree lol.

i think thats the point of the thread, to decide, why snoke is of interest.

maybe you would have been better just saying that?
do you trust the myth then, because you say its based on fact, but fact according to palpatine, who is purposely obscuring his own identity. either way it would seem an element of trust is needed on your own behalf?

so just to clarify, you think the myth was a lie, or that the myth is real and palpatine was really plagues's apprentice?

I think the easiest way to put this is there has been a split with the new movies and any books that pre date them.
snoke is just snoke (so far), not plagues, nor Hego Damask.
You made a point earlier that palpatine was lying and not to be trusted, but on that basis i could argue the whole point is mute,, maybe its all a lie, the whole darth plagues the wise story, just to pray on anikins fears and turn him, point being, we can't pick and choose ergo. it's a myth. because he says its a myth.
If palpatine had been trained by plagues, he would be trained in the ways of creating life and saving the people he cared about. but he wasn't, as stated by himself when anikin asks him. which makes my point?
He therefore can't be plagues apprentice, because the myth says plagues trained an apprentice who then killed him in his sleep. hence the conflicting storylines.

Plagueis is identified as Sidious' master in the canon novel Tarkin.

You can find all of the "evidence" pro and anti- Plagueis=Snoke in this thread:

    https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet.com/index.php?threads/darth-plagueis-in-the-sequel-trilogy.190/

Snoke's identity, assuming there even is a hidden one, is an open question after TFA. It hasn't been answered. He could be Plagueis, he could not be.

Bingo. Tarkin opened the floodgate for me. Snoke will either be the greatest Sith Lord who ever lived, Darth Plagueis, or the dumbest nobody we've never heard of. Or worse.

i understand what you are saying but this definitively puts an end to the possibility that snoke is plagues. The films take president over all other cannon.
    1. the story is a legend

    2. palpatine says to anikin we will try together to discover the mystery that "only one has discovered." this means he himself has not already learnt.
    3. in the legend two people knew how to "create life and stop people they cared about from dying"
    plagues and his apprentice.
    4. when anikin literally ask's palpatine to teach him palpatine says there is only ONE that new the ways.

    5. the MYTH that talks of two people learning, plagues and apprentice, and the LITERAL one person who learned referenced by palpatine, are two different events. a myth and a literal event.
    CONCLUSION
They are are talking about two different things?
As a consequence of this, darth plagues cannot be palatines master or palpatine would have been taught to create life and stop the ones he cared about from dying.
    therefore plagues CANNOT BE SNOKE.

in lore, they were defeated by Jedi Masters Trident and Colgate

Sorry, FallenAngel, you are mistaken as to what is actually canon and how to interpret it. There is a new podcast on this website, called the Can(on)tina, as well other sources that have identified what constitutes canon since Disney took over and wiped a lot of the EU canon.

The only time the movie supersedes other canon sources is when there is a contradiction between the two; other canon sources are allowed to fill in any gaps. As an easy example, the book The Force Awakens says that Kylo Ren slashed Finn across the chest; the movie shows Kylo slashing Finn across the back. The movie's scene, not the book's, is canon.

Returning back to the subject, there is no relevant contradiction between the Tarkin novel and the movie Revenge of the Sith.

Palpatine has at many other times (in movies, canon TV shows, canon comics and canon books) demonstrated the following traits/attributes: manipulation, dishonesty, arrogance, overconfidence, inability to accurately sense things through the Force. So, for the time being, it remains reasonable to argue that Palpatine believed he killed but did not actually kill Plagueis.

You can find all of these arguments and more, including arguments against this position, in the thread I previously linked. Since you are so interested in the subject, it is worth your time to become acquainted with these arguments.

as far as giving me a Trolling rating for an obvious joke based on a typo by Biff (he used a "q" instead of a "g"), no one can stop you from doing it, but you look really dumb doing it.

The whole Snoke = Darth Plagueis is starting to turn into a "birther" / "truther" movement.

    Lack of competition.

That is for the old EU canon, when Lucas owned Star Wars. Since 2014. All comics, books, novels ( starting with ''Darth Maul - Son of Dathomir'' ) are equal canon as 7 movies, Clone Wars movie, Clone Wars series and Rebels.
