I have been watching a lot of speculation videos about ep 9 which is always fun but as we all know we need to be careful because some of us (me included) become so convinced and obsessed about theories that when none of them are fulfilled there is a lot of anger and disappointment...but anyway I'm going off subject here

what makes me laugh is people are like "Oh broom boy will be Rey's new apprentice" or oh broom boy will be in the new trilogy.

has anyone thought that this kid is just a visual representation of what the message of the Last Jedi was about? it was just a representation of a new generation being moved by the legend of Luke Skywalker and that anyone can be a hero, no matter where you come from.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trolling anyone who does feel that he is going to be a real character, but just hits me a bit weird that everyone is getting of obsessed about him. but what do you guys think? is he an introduction of a larger character or is he just a visual embodiment of an idea?

I am just as mystified as you are, I saw the film twice (in the UK) and he didn't do any force tricks with his broom. Or at least I didn't SEE him do any. He was wearing a ring, picked up his broom, began sweeping, then looked out up into the sky then the film ended. Maybe our version of TLJ was different?

    Maybe its Mandela Effect ?!

Those youtubers THRIVE on grandiose click-bait and they need new things to talk about. Chances are, they don't even believe in or care about the speculation that they are presenting, they just needed to provide some content.

Agreed. My thought is that he's a just symbolization about there is a new generation of force users which some will become a Jedi and others may become a Sith and that everyone in the galaxy can be a possible game changer rather than a specific blood line.

    It's a tremendously corny scene.

I only hope all the poor children across the world who cant afford Toy light sabers are raising their brooms in resentment of expensive Disney Merchandise.

My 1 year old son keeps getting into the pantry and taking the broom out to play with it and try to sweep. I keep laughing to myself when he does it and can't help but think of broom boy.:D

See, even with the broom flying to his hand through the force, I think that the FS kid is just an allusion either to the fact that the force has awakened, or it has always been everywhere and we'd just never seen it, OR a nod toward a set-up that Rey will be taking a young padawan....or all three.

Sweeping is a coveted skill. People really take it for granted. Just wait for mop girl and squeegee kid. You’ll change your tune.

Indeed, that's what bugs me. It is too on the nose. We got 10k Jedi in the prequels and a green frog in a swamp with the force. Then we have a nobody in the store, maybe for some fans it is hard to grasp, that the force is in all living things and binds together, but broom boi was just redundant.

Why are all the new characters cleaners of some kind?

    Finn: Sanitation trooper
    Rose: Pipe cleaner
    Broom Boy: Animal cleaner
