OK as the oldest person I have seen so far in the Cantina (of those that post their age)....Broom Boy has special meaning for me....brings back the youngster in me so excited after seeing the un-numbered, non-"A New Hope", Star Wars in 1977

    Yep.
    Agreed.
For me, I wouldn't/can't say I'm 'obsessed' with or about him.
He's there in the Story and serves his point and I like it as it is.

That's the awesome thing about Star Wars.

You got introduced with the world to the series when it was first released as a kid, and I'm certain you've got all sorts of stories and memories to go with it.

As a kid, I grew up with the movies and video games, immersed in the great world that Star Wars had created. And yes, also the prequel films- whatever their faults, they also have a ton of cool stuff that totally appeal to a child's sense of wonder.

I can't help but smile thinking about the kids who will grow up with Rey and Finn as role models and Broom Boi as a proxy for themselves. I wish toys sold better these days, because that's a huge part of my own childhood- but however kids decide to celebrate Star Wars these days, I hope it's something that sticks with them for a lifetime.

I personally didnt care for it but its probably like that with a lot of people because the broom boy represents a new hope for the galaxy since literally everyone has enough of the force within them to use it in the living world and fight the bad people

To answer the main question being asked by this thread:

Because Broom Boy is a nobody who has the Force.

It’s the same reason some people love Rey Nobody. The difference is, Rey is not a Nobody as she will be revealed to be Luke’s daughter in IX.

lol "luke's daughter" such a missed opportunity...i still think it was completely unncessary, also because everyone in the theater i was in said things like, "...REALLY?" "C'MON!" :p and i personally believe that they should have had an end scene with the falcon landing somewhere remote and remembering Luke Skywalker because Leia felt him die in the force and was ultimately able to locate where he died so they memorialize him in some way because i still believe that the entire canto bight thing had a lot to do with literally tying into the ending because its on canto bight but it could have been literally anywhere else .

    Broom Boy :
    - Nobody
    - Slave
    - Hears of jedi tales (and likes them)
    - Force Sensitive

It just does remember the young Anakin to me.

That's the new rule in the new Star Wars canon: light side force sensitives do not need any training, see Rey.

A lot of Jedi are nobodies... Rey is a nobody.

Yes. Darkness rises, and light to meet it :)

So was Anakin, so was Luke, so was Rey.

Luke and Anakin were the antithesis of a nobody.
Anakin was the prophetic child to bring about balance to the force.
Luke was the son of the prophet.

Originally, yes you are right. But with the prequels and the revelations of Luke being Vader's son...neither of them were nobodies.
No one with Skywalker blood can be a nobody. That's the point of being a Skywalker.
