Lord Vader is and will always be the most iconic bad ass of not just Star Wars but any other film that has a villain.

People will try and say, after the PT, that Vader was just half the man he could have been. Posters like Getingear (GIG) is one of the most intelligent and likeable posters on star wars forums. His vast knowledge of TGFFA is second to none. And he will defend every film with that vast knowledge.

I offer a challenge to the man, GIG. Have you ever felt the feeling that you got when Vader entered a scene in any other star wars film? I know you are honest so I'll believe what you say.

Suited Vader to me is the most powerful because of that feeling I get inside. That erky feeling.

We had this debate years ago and now I just wonder if you have ever gotten that erky feeling from a different character yet?

Or if you have acknowledged that Vader was the best of the best in the suit?

Vader will always have that PRESENCE for me, despite that I know who is really behind the mask. I just did not get that sense of presence with Kylo Ren. Darth Vader's mask and attire was basically his life support system, but Kylo's mask did not seem all that relevant to me, nor his attire. He just seemed like an idolising Vader Fan Boy to me and his mask looks like a metallic platypus. I suppose Anakin was also a snotty faced brat before he became a suited bad-ass, but he definitely knew how to wield the suit to intimidate and coerce.

I know we will learn more about Kylo in the next movies, and perhaps he is not meant to be the menacing figure Darth Vader was, however, if he is indeed vying for the coveted Sith Lord title I hope he ramps up his game.

I hope that Rogue One ends with Vader in his suit just slaughtering the cast of that movie so we can feel again what a threat he is.

He might not be trying to be Vader, but he certainly comes off wanting to be, or at least that is the sense i got.

Darth Vader, in the suit, had a menacing presence, but there is difference between having a presence and being the most powerful. We shall see what becomes of Kylo Ren in the future, but Darth Vader before he was relegated to the suit would have been a more powerful force user than he was in the suit. His actions also would probably have made him appear menacing, but we'll never know. For my money Darth Sidious appears menacing, yeah he doesn't have the flashy suit, but he's menacing before and after his disfiguration.

Vader IMO did not gain any additional power from the suit his anger for Kenobi increased his power, that was his drive, the suit provided fear & intimidation.

You are spot on about Kylo but that is exactly what they want. He may want to be next Vader but he is not. By creating a character whose goal it is to measure themselves against Vader overtly and who can't creating more drama. They save themselves from failing at making a new villain the world would compare to Vader and would always be derivative, Malak, Revan, Malgus and so on. By making his grandson trying soooo hard to measure up they create a character overshadowed by Vader by design. But he is not dangerous you say. Wrong he is not intimidating. When you fail to be intimidated by him he will chop you in to fine chunks in a temper tantrum.

Han and Poe both called him on it. Poe mocked him, "I can't under stand you with all that . . . . apparatus." Han walked out on the bridge, "Take off the mask son, you don't need It, you never did."

Vader was a force of nature that could crush your windpipe with a thought. His mere presence was awe inspiring. Kylo has something to prove, he will prove it and it won't be pretty.

No one even argued the fact. You just wanna make new issues because you have nothing informative to say.

The movies, TCW and stuff after 2014 are the only canon materials, so, we don't know if suited Vader is more powerful than his former self or not. There's only Sidious' claim that Vader would become more powerful than himself and Yoda. Anyhow, he eventually killed palpatine and defeated the Sith. His feats in current canon material exceed any other force user. I have a feeling Disney will eventually claim that Vader in the OT was the most powerful force user ever but he didn't show his full strength against his son.

I don't know who gave me the off topic but as far as TFA goes discussing Vader (especially suited Vader and his power) is a large part of the story IMO.

I say give them time with Ren, when we were introduced to Vader, he was a fully developed evil guy. He was fully trained and not conflicted for the first 1.75 movies in the first trilogy. I think they want to develop Ren as a bad guy and Rey as a good person. The idea of a dualistic story of these two and a face off between Luke and Snoke can be a very appealing story for this trilogy. Personally, I think in the end, Rey will become the most powerful force user on either side. They have developed her character to this point with a certain amount of metal in her spine that Ren and Luke lacked in their introductions.
