No new villain as such. I don't think that Snoke is dead, he knew Kylo was going to kill him as he said as much.

I think in the throne room Snoke infected his soul into Rey and he will take over her body. She will turn to the Dark side then she as Snoke will be the new villain and Kylo Ren will have to defeat her. With Kylo Ren becoming the unlikely hero in Episode 9 and revealed as the chosen one prophesied by the Jedi.

I think it's more likely they'll resurrect Snoke than introduce a new villain. The only new villains I see them introducing in Episode IX are the Knights of Ren, which are long overdue considering their overhyped importance right from the beginning of the promotion for The Force Awakens.

However, if JJ Abrams is continuing to develop the relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey to the extent that Rian did, then I don't see them introducing anyone else because the whole reason Snoke was killed was to allow Kylo Ren to grow as a character. (Although if he's redeemed, it's possible the big twist will be that Snoke isn't really dead. I could see Ben being redeemed in the midst of battling Rey, and then Snoke shows up and announces he's not really dead and fights both of them.)

I'm pretty sure that Snoke was never Sith Lord like Palpatine and that in episode 9 it'll introduce the actual Sith Lord

Then Finn, Rey and Poe will take him out and some fans will get all bent because they don't know his backstory.

I really don't see a new villain rising for the last ep in the saga. Kylo has always been the main antagonist, even in Luca's treatments. I feel Kylo is coming into his own and will fully fill the role.

Yeah I don't think the new villain will be the main antagonist because if he were he would've been in the past 2 movies

I'd like to add that a completely new main villain is a god-awful idea. This is the third act of a trilogy- we need resolution, not further complication. Furthermore, we don't need to waste time introducing the audience to a new villain when many already feel Snoke was pretty one note.

Now, that doesn't necessarily mean Kylo has to be the ultimate villain. We have Hux, Phasma, and maybe even some form of Snoke that could take on that mantle, should Kylo come back to the light (though, personally I hope he doesn't). If we had to have a main villain other than Kylo, it better be someone already established. And, in my opinion, it should be someone already established as villainous. Supreme Leader Dameron would be hard to pull off believably. Even Supreme Leader DJ would be a stretch- he's scum, not evil. We don't have time in this final film for such a huge reversal of fates for someone who isn't Kylo/Rey/Finn.

Actually, I changed my mind, after long extensive research and hours on end watching and researching Star Wars, I've come to the conclusion of who the villain will be...

No one wants to consider the possibility that Kylo Ren might prove to be the last remaining Big Bad of this trilogy?

In addition to the KOR (and maybe Snoke's secret apprentice) I think the Kylo Ren persona will be the ultimate big bad with Ben Solo trying to overcome it.

i think the reason why fans are bent out of shape is because snoke fan theories like "star wars theory" teasing us with the idea that snoke is a force vampire and leeway into a old republic movie...that video would rack up to 4 million views before it was taken down by the youtuber after TLJ, thankfully the video was saved by my friend.

compare this version of snoke to kylo ren....yes kylo ren is a better villian, but this snoke would have expanded the star wars saga as well as create a perfect set up to old republic. someone at disney should be fired for missing this perfect opportunity

I gotta be honest. For me, that was just bad. That wasn’t Star Wars that was bad sci-fi. The only way you could ever make a movie about stuff like this is if you start at the beginning so people can see all of this happening. Lucas used to say SHOW, don’t TELL. Any theories that require insane amounts of explaining can be discounted. It will never happen because having to explain your own movie is bad story telling.

last jedi has the worse box office drop than any sequel of all time...solo is expected to barely on the radar....and episode 9 might drop from the already abysmal box office of episode 8...so its not like star wars is in good enough shape to be taking risks like this

Where are you getting abysmal? It's still in theaters and it's the highest grossing film of the year. Disney knows that releasing a new Star Wars film every year will dilute box office returns a bit. They will gladly trade this kind of "abysmal" every two years. Heck even Rogue One made over $500 million domestic and crossed a billion with International returns. Nobody at LFL or Disney is worrying too much right now. Even if Solo only makes $300 million domestic it will exceed production and marketing.

The fan fiction from the Youtubers we see posted here is simply that....fan fiction. Making a movie about that garbage wouldn't be a risk, it would be suicide.

Kylo will remain the main villain, with a minor appearance from either the KoR or possibly Snoke's other apprentice.

    No new villains needed.

There is already so much going on and so many possibilities in place.

Bringing a new villain in during the last act would just seem.. pointless and cluttered.

Let some time have passed between VIII and IX..

Show Ren as more refined and powerful.. sporting his mask once again.

Make the KOR supporting villains of pure brutality and obedience.

Find a unique and intriguing way to bring Snoke back, same as they are going to do for Master Skywalker.

I suggest Force Ghosts for both.. done in ways we've never seen or even imagined before. Get creative AF.

Would be interesting if Ren and Rey each had respective 'spirit guides' in the next film who they continue to disobey.

    As well as learn from..

Ultimately resulting in them finally becoming united with one another in perfect harmony and balance.

Although Snoke would obviously need to be very demon-esque, in a torturous and abusive sense.

This would make Ren more reliant on Rey and the Lightside teachings in order to "banish" Snoke forever.

Along with helping him come to peace with murdering Father Solo.

Could be the main tipping point that allows Benny Boy to once again accept the Light (Rey) into his Life.

    Sounds sexy to me.

I don't know why people are so down on Hux... He's a great baddy with great comic timing, something much needed in Star Wars, where things can get pretty intense. Better comic Hux than milking aliens, for sure. I feel there is mutiny against Kylo in the horizon and that Hux will be instrumental in this. He wants power and we know that he is quite capable to reel in his troops with crazy speeches.

Not sure about the KoR. I have a feeling that lot were killed before TFA don't ask me why. If they are alive and reintroduced in the story, it will probably be as a means for Kylo to save Rey against them and sacrifice himself for her. If Kylo survives, he'll have to end up exiled and all mushed up like Snoke, so nobody can say he is being let off lightly.
