Will Indy 5 Be the Last in the Series?

Will Indy 5 be the last Indiana Jones film? Yes and no.
Will Indy 5 be the last Indiana Jones film starring Harrison Ford? YES!

The way I see it, this could go four ways:

1. Indiana Jones will be recast with a younger male actor, and future films will take place before or in-between the stories of 1-3, in the same universe.
2. Indiana Jones will be recast with a younger male actor, and future films will be a complete reboot of the character set in a new universe.
3. Indiana Jones will be recast with a younger female actress, and future films will be a complete reboot of the character set in a new universe.
4. Indiana Jones will not be recast per se, but Harrison Ford will "choose" a successor in Indy 5 that's going to continue the stories in the same universe.

Out of those above, I'd say number 1 or 2 are the most likely, since it's the most "playing it safe" alternative. Number 3 is also possible, but it's much more likely that a reboot of the character would include a strong female sidekick except for a female Indiana. Number 4 is the least likely, since it's difficult to have the audience relate to an Indiana Jones story set after the 1960's where Ford isn't involved.

 

For some reason, I think if the new Lara Croft film is a success we'll get a female Indie to compete with it or cash in on it.

 

Since female leads are all the rage now you could be right.

 

Doubtful. I'd say if Tomb Raider flops it leaves more room for a female Indiana Jones. Nevertheless, gender and race swapping is such a stupid idea anyway.

 

I really hope they don't make another one, they'd just ruin it.
