Will Jyn Erso die?

Nah, he will probably live, seems like too interesting of a character

 

I'm betting that scene where we see the TIE Fighter rise up to meet her is atop the transmission tower that sends out the plans she just stole and ran across the beach with.

She has sent the plans, and that ship arrives, and she's toast.

 

I hope Vader kill em all'! On a ship that is supposed to be the ship with the death star plans, but they sacrifies them selves, so the real ship (Tantive IV) can make it in time.

 

i don't think any of the cast has to die but i think most will for "drama". i wouldn't be surprised if jyn and her father make it out to give some sort of happy ending tho.

 

Actually I'd like to see them in a sweet embrace and the father saying something nice to Diego Luna before they all meet their destiny .. like the scene of the father and daughter in Deep Impact

 

I doubt she will die .

 

I think it's pretty much a given that she'll die. It's not like they're planning a sequel, and after all, this is a movie about the people who made sacrifices for our heroes to win.

Hopefully we'll see more of her in books and comics about her past. I mean, she starts Rogue One in jail, there have to be plenty of good stories to tell.

 

The simple reason they wouldnt kill her off is because of her popularity theyre expecting and - sales .

 

when started reading that i swore i thought you were going with the other asteroid movie from that year.

 

I kinda hope that most of the crew end up dying for the rebellion... I immediately think of; "Save the rebellion! Save the dream!"

 

i voted that Jyn dies.

the film is about finding hope and sacrificing everything for it.

a tiny little part of me thinks that Disney may have elected to keep their leading lady alive. Perhaps she'll try and sacrifice herself for the mission, but her remaining team members shield her at the last moment and give their lives.

i suppose it depends on how the plans are 'handed' over to the princess.. if it's by hand which i suspect then someone needs to survive. although i think Vader mentioned a transmission in ANH?

should be one hell of an epic ending though. so looking forward to it.

 

Maybe it is just me, but I never liked movies which ends with the death of the main protagonist, especially when I like him or her.

 

well that's the thing.. Jyn's death is a lot easier to digest now, as we don't know her yet.

we're not invested in her, but i suspect i'll love her character in Rogue 1 and i'll be hoping all the way through that she survives.
just like i did with Han in TFA

also, i'm torn with regards to the Vader aspect... i wanna see the legend force choking and impaling every rebel he comes by, and of course still have a happy ending. yeah i don't want much lol

as long as i walk out of the theater with my first response being "well i'm coming back tomorrow to see that again!" then i don't mind how it goes.

 

I will buy only 1 ticket for Rogue One in advance. If the movie is more than just a battlefront onscreen (what I fear), I may go for a 2nd screening a few days later. I was in 3 screenings of TFA, but only because I did not believe the rumors that Luke would only be a cameo, so I bought the 3 tickets in advance. But I didn't do the originally planned 10+ screenings like with ROTJ.

i dont think they are all going to die, just most of them. im thinking Jyn will probably be among those who die though.

I prefer the cynical hard-bought victory where they all die. Not just the father.

I think the reason the plans are BEAMED to the Tantive IV is because their ship is going to get destroyed en route. I think the Rebels will kill Orson Krennic and escape with Galen Erso and The Empire (and Vader) will be trying to recapture Galen and they will sacrifice themselves rather then let him be recaptured.

* FYI both of those extinction level celestial object disaster films stunk compared to the novel Lucifer's Hammer (1977) by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
