    Brilliant post.

I think you will be very surprised on December 15th. If we were dealing with Disney pre Lion King I'd totally agree with you but Disney don't just make 'kiddy films' anymore. They've tackled some pretty edgy issues in a lot of their main stream releases in the last 20 years. I'd prepare yourself for a surprise.

Just take a look at some of the plot points already covered in TFA; Patricide, torture, mass destruction, fanaticism, child abduction/abandonment amongst others. Doesn't sound particularly 'kiddy' to me.

By that logic a show like Marvel's Daredevil wouldn't exist.

I think you deeply underestimate how much creative freedom Disney's subsidiaries have when they're performing well. Disney's most successful film ever was a Star Wars film.

    Don't be an anti-Disney sheep.

Sorry everyone, but this is neither a great nor wise post. Look at all those spelling errors.

If he kills Leia, then that would make Kylo Ren a Menendez brother at this point. :p I would check Han/Leia's insurance policy as usually that's the reason kids kill their parents.

In response to the OP - No, only a well told story will renew your faith. A single character will not IMO.
    In Rian we trust.

"Will Kylo Ren make me have faith in Star Wars once more?"

    You mean Rian Johnson?

Also, demanding a specific character arc for Kylo as the only means by which you enjoy the series again, seems quite narrow-minded. Almost as narrow minded as claiming TFA was just a rehash of ANH, when in reality it paid homage to many parts of ANH (a little too much I'll admit) AND other Star Wars films, while still giving us many new things to enjoy. It was a coat of many colors.

Be careful of preconceived notions and absolutes. Destroy you, they can.

But that's exactly what I mean my friend. Having Kylo Ren become this awesome original character with a storyline that's all his own would indeed be a well told story. :)

But that is only 1 part of the story as Rey is just as important to the Trilogy. I would equate your dilemma similar to mine with the PT, as I love Palpatine's story, but dont' think much of Anakin's story. Palpatine's rise from Senator to The Emperor was very well done by Lucas along with the Empire. But that is only part of the story of the PT, as Anakin's story just never resonated with me.

I've come to grips with the fact — just like much of the OT generation did before me with the prequels — that the Sequel Trilogy might just not end up my cup of tea. And that's fine. My real stake is in the standalone movies. Rogue One was terrific. and who knows what else we'll get. I'm still optimistic about Ep. 8, but if it doesn't do much for me, it's not the end of the world. We'll be getting new Star Wars frequently enough that I'm bound to like something along the way.

I wish you were right. These Adam Driver Stans want a fluffy ending. They will probably get it. All this love conquers all trope is seriously been pushed by them.

lol i love that term so much (stans lol). Real talk, I love vegeta as much as the next man, but i'm sick of redemption arcs in star wars. I want the villains to have teeth. I don't wanna see a darksider and immediately thing "yeah he'll change his mind before the trilogy is over.". Orsen Krenic was one of the best things about Rogue one imo. He had his ambitions and he set about to further them. He was a space nazi, but his character was interesting, especially for only being around for one movie.
