SPECULATION Will Luke Skywalker be in any of the trailers?

The amount of Han we saw in TFA trailers would likely also be the amount of Luke we'll see in VIII trailers. Just a guess.

 

I think he will play a big part in VIII, so yeah. He won't be in the first teaser though

 

Now that the cat is out of the bag, there's no point in putting it back in. I think we'll see a lot of Luke in the run up to VIII.

And hopefully we'll get some backstory (through comics and novels) while we're waiting, too.

 

I think he will need to be in the second & third trailer with Rey.

Yes, the one thing I will give Disney is they were 100% honest with their trailers for TFA.

All trailers led with Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo so they were telling us the OT characters were not the focus.

Han got the most trailer time and did in the movie, while Leia got a few clips and had a minor role and Luke wasn't shown and was in last scene of the movie.

The trailers were 100% honest, which is rare for Hollywood.

 

Agree with you, I do. The focus now are on the new characters. Rey=Luke(light side), Kylo=darth(dark side), Poe=Han(best pilot), Finn=chewie/leia(more resistance fighter/knowledge)

I think they do it like Episode VII. I dont think they would show Luke alot maybe one pivotal(but small) cut scene like when Kylo Ren stop the blaster mid shot as scene below. give luke a lightsaber cut scene would make everyone go nuts. I would like to see Rey in a cloak of some sort as well as maybe having either her own lightsaber or acquiring a crystal. that would be a good cut scene. its gonna be alot to speculate and to pick and chose what should be on the Ep. VIII trailer

I was one of those guys who was furious about the rumor that Luke would only be in TFA for like 10 seconds. However , having seen the film i can see multiple reasons why this was necessary and also fiendishly brilliant. He doesn't outshine the new heroes, which makes it more even in ep 8 for when he does get more to do (hopefully). And now in the marketing we can have a brand new "Chewie we're home" moment - this time with luke. It's like a double jackpot the filmmakers set themselves up for

 

This time his cloaked hand will be on BB-8

 

I can understand why they did not use him in 7 to establish Rey's character, but he must be in 8 and have a much larger role. I think Rey's character can now stand on screen with him. Instead of it being Luke Skywalker dominating, it will be how is he going to help Rey. I so wanted to see Luke being a powerful Jedi on screen, but I understand why he is not in this movie.

 

Considering that it's called "Bloodlines", I imagine we will get a good amount of this in Claudia Gray's next novel, New Republic: Bloodlines. Supposedly set 6 years before TFA. Could be around the time the SHTF with Kylo and the Jedi Academy? If so, I'm really excited because her Lost Stars was the best Star Wars novel I've ever read, beating the entire old EU for sheer character relatability and depth.
