SPECULATION Will Luke Skywalker use his green lightsaber in Ep VIII or Ep IX?

I think Episode 8 will feature the Knights of Ren more prominently and Luke will have an amazing fight scene where he takes on multiple Knights. We have only ever seen two v one lightsaber duels in Star Wars. It's time for a scene where Luke fights 8 Knights of ren while Kylo and Rey go at it again. Wishful thinking.

Also Luke should dual wield like a true samurai. Like Myamoto Musashi.

 

I only have THIS to say!

If they screw us over with Luke again and gives him a small cameo like they did in TFA, then they can suck my creativeley made Xmas balls.

 

Yes. Showing Luke using his lightsaber is a must for everyone who wants to make a Star Wars sequel trilogy. I'd love to see Luke fighting the knights of Ren in a dark rainy planet (SO EPIC)

 

Yes, we will without a doubt see Luke use an lightsaber, but will it be the green one, who knows.

It's called hype. (I'am undecided yet if I like the movie, but I really liked all of the Millenium Falcon scenes)
To be honest the movie is far from being a masterpiece but not so bad as @DFF wants it to be.
Buddy let that hatret go, I know you're really disappointed and you have some valid points, but give the ST a chance.
Maybe VIII or IX will give you more enjoyment as TFA.
See TFA as a soft reboot as a steeping stone with the good things to come.
They are not stupid at Lucasfilm/Disney, there is much powder left.

 

I just want to put this forward for those wishing for both lots of Luke and the use of his green lightsaber: if we get a badass Luke scene, expect it to be at the end of the movie, and expect him to only have one other very short scene with Rey in the beginning. Just as Arndt realized Luke would steal whatever scene he's in, Johnson would probably agree. But you can bet it would be worth it. I certainly would, at least.
But I wouldn't expect Luke to have much more screen time than Leia in TFA. I'll toss some credits down on use of his ROTJ saber though.
I saw a variety of people post expectations of him coming to save the day for Rey and Finn on Starkiller Base, but I'm thinking something like that's probable to be at the end of VIII.

There was a reason for Luke not having more than one scene in TFA since it was about the search for Luke, but it wouldn't make sence in EP VIII since they found him in TFA. It is MUCH more likely that Luke will go on an adventure with Rey as Solo did in TFA.

 

I hope this is the case, I like the parallel. I'm just trying not to hype myself up too much. Kind of like some of the questions we have after seeing TFA we might not have answered in VIII.

I want to see Luke included as much as possible. But I highly doubt we will see him swing a lightsaber.
- It would be stupid to reduce Luke to an Yoda-like role as his importance is stated in Ep. 7 But seeing how Luke would overpower Reys journey I have no clue how they can make his role much bigger without overshadowing Rey. The moment he ignites his saber against some enemies and he is all badass Luke..I wanna see that film...forget Rey..I wanna see Luke being badass! And there is exactly the problem..as this trilogy isnt about Luke. In my heart of hearts I would really want to see that film with Luke..but it would go against everything JJ and Disney are trying to set up with this new trilogy and characters.

 

You make a good point. Now that Luke has been found, there is no reason to keep him hidden again in the next movie. Good call ..

Not necessarily. Remember that Luke is an part of Rey's story/journey, just as Obi Wan was an part of Luke's story/journey in A New Hope. And I'm sure they will not miss the opportunity of having Luke fight again after 30 some what years. Also they know that people are just sitting and waiting for Luke to fight in Episode VIII, so they cant afford to disappoint people again. Especially after Han Solo having such a large part with action scenes and all, and Luke only having a small cameo in The Force Awakens.

 

DUUUH. Harrison Ford is much more popular than Mark Hamill.

This is not about the actor's popularity, this is about the character's popularity. And if we really have to go there, Luke is just as popular as Han solo in my opinion. And with the events in TFA, then Luke is next in line for his last hurra. Trust me, they won't miss that opportunity with Luke..

But with a much better outcome. Every time I think of what I want in a good lightsaber fight I end up watching The Old Republic trailers again.
