    Does anyone think Leia will make a cameo role receiving the death star plans on the Tantive IV before it's chased by the Avenger in TNH.

    Its possible but not necessary. In ANH Vader says rebel spies "beamed" the plans to the Tantive IV. SO, they never come face to face with Leia. We could see the other end of that transaction, but we don't have to. I could imagine an end to that movie, where our remaining rebels are running from a SD and make a last desperate transmission with the plans to a passing consular ship known to be friendly to the rebel alliance. ANd then they are blow to bits without ever knowing whether their transmission was successful. (We'll know of course, but it could be a powerful ending)

    This may be what Billie Lourd was tapped for - and not a role in Ep 7. Carrie Fisher would be WAY WAY too old looking for any type of cameo as Leia. Even her voice just doesn't match very well anymore.

    The radio drama had a cool little scene where she kills an Imperial officer who is having dinner with her and her father when he cottons onto her being a traitor.

    Well that ''beamimg'' is IMO a eu theory relating to the Battle of Toprawa when the rebel strike was all killed with the last member apparently watching the Tantive IV heading via lightspeed to a unknown destination before dying I hope it goes a different approach.

    I don't see this happening unless, a) they do a CGI Leia (=bad choice), or, b) dig up some almost 40 year old, unused clip or alternative shot from ANH and put that into a new context.

    Oh, and btw, according to the latest news, Billie is not playing Leia (although she expressed and interest in doing so)

    In any case, Billie doesn't look too much like Carrie in the first place. Having spent a little time googling and comparing Leia & Billy pics, it is rare to come upon a convincing match. Actualy, hadn't I known it, I wouldn't have guessed they were related. There are some similarities in a few of the Hoth Leia pics, but you really have to be looking for it to see it.

    Probably, Billie is just doing an extra or some one scene character, probably as a favor to Carrie. Its a nice favor for her aspiring actress daughter, which could really help kick off her career. I wouldn't expect Billies role to be anything even remotely important, however.

    I think they look enough alike - as close as any actress likely to cast in the role of young Leia at any rate. But the biggest resemblance is in their voices.

    Agreed it's not nessesary. Not to mention Carrie fisher looks absolutely nothing like she did 35 years ago. CGI is a bad idea and her daughter doesn't look much like her either.

    An aged Jimmy Smits could be cool though...

    I believe it would be a better idea for them to use Leia in context only, to have characters refere to this incredible senator and princess form Alderan who has really helped to galvanize and inspire the Rebellion. IMHO, that would be a better and more satisfying use of Leia, from a story perspective, than having her seen walked by down a corridor or performing a speech or whatever. One doesn't need to show the character to use it well.

    Actually I thought that they could bring Jimmy Smits and use some make-up and prosthetics to make him look like ten years older. I mean, ROTS was 10 years ago so Rogue One would be sort of 20 yrs later.

    I think it is certainly possible. Maybe at the end if it takes us right up to ANH with them receiving the transmission. I don't think it will be a speaking roll, maybe more from a distance shot.
