Will Princess Leia/Carrie Fisher have a cameo role?

No what? If they have the right hair and make up and play the aprt well, then I see no problem.

well with a close up de-aging has come a long way but this does suggest it's from far away/not a direct shot.

 

Maybe it's just her voice. Her voice is very similar, that deep sound.

I have captured this picture from the "Rogue One" trailer, does it look familar..........??

 

I've posted this before, but this is my hope:

The last scene opens on a familiar shot- Tantive IV being chased down over Tatooine.
We see Leia from a distance down the hall- maybe it's Carrie Fischer, maybe not. The shot doesn't even have to be super in focus, even, so details don't matter. It's one of the most iconic moments of the series- fans will know what it is, even if the film is coy about it.

We see her bend over and put the plans into r2- then we hear "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope" (hopefully original audio from ANH. Screen fades to black- then we see "Obi Wan Kenobi will return in 2020". Credits.

 

I have mentioned before what would be a great way to include Princess Leia in Rogue One:

We see Alderaan, and we see Bail looking ahead, while a white hooded young woman walks toward the ramp of the Tantive IV. We only see her back, and we could get a glimpse of two very famous droids inside the ship. Obviously for this, it'd be nice to have a random mention before in Yavin - where everyone is gathered and they working on the plan - a part where Bail mentions he is taking care of the second part of the plan and a "special agent" recruited for that matter. (In the meantime, we know Princess Leia is in Coruscant, at the Imperial Palace dancing with Thane Kyrell LOL).

For that matter, they could've gotten any actress with a similar complexion and height than 1977's Carrie Fisher and using her voice might not be that necessary. For the random SW aficionado, that would be just part of the story, but for die-hard fans it would be MIND-BLOWN experience. Especially since we would be seeing the last time Leia was in Alderaan, and the previous time we saw her on a movie was in the ending of ROTS, actually arriving to Alderaan for the first time. Wouldn't be poetic to see the first time and the last time she was in Alderaan, and arriving and leaving in the same ship?

Knowing that Gareth Edwards is such a big Star Wars fan I'm pretty sure he has something like that. Maybe at the end it won't be exactly like this, maybe it all will come to be a bunch of Easter eggs across the movie. However, I hope there is something like this - I hope it, but I don't expect it LOL.

That's fair, I usually wasn't. Given recent revelations in the canon of Clone Wars and Rebels, though, it seems there might some unfinished business he could have.

From what I've seen in the Battlefront DLC, it looks like multiple corvettes take place in a fight above Scarif- though it's possible Tantive IV was there (much like it was present at Toprawa in the old canon) and will receive the plans and book it out of there.

 

Well, I think they can use the same facial cgi technology that used to create the young Michael Douglas and Robert Downey Jr. in Ant Man and CA3 and use that use it in this movie, I would like to see a real young Carrie again, and it would be a big surprise to fans

Well, almost guessed the first thing (Bail saying about sending someone to get his Jedi friend) and the second. It was not exactly in Alderaan, but we saw the Princess again I think her voice was taken from the original audio.
