    Would this also entail R2 reminding 3PO how he was naked throughout all of his early days?

    I would actually love it the entire series ends on that revelation to Threepio. "I've always been doomed!"

    I'm genuinely interested by this possibility. R2-D2 and C-3PO were both witness to a great deal of history, including that of Anakin Skywalker. Bail Organa had the good sense to have C-3PO's memory wiped because he could pose a great security threat, especially in light of Threepio having been witness to the birth of the twins.

    I think one of the key points may revolve around R2-D2. R2 was absent in almost all of the Annie Liebovitz photos, save one. And the knowledge in R2-D2 could very well make this particular droid one of the great items for Kylo Ren to amass. He sought Darth Vader's helmet, as well as the Skywalker lightsaber. The information in R2-D2 about Anakin Skywalker might be very valuable to him. And perhaps that was why R2-D2 was in low power mode in most of TFA.
