We're in the middle of The Book of Boba Fett and so far we have remained grounded on Tatooine. There's no hint of the Rebels / New Republic or Empire / First Order coming in to play, and I'm hoping that they don't. The story doesn't need them and it shouldn't be forced -- no pun intented. But for that matter, the Jedi and Sith likely won't be involved either.

That got me to thinking: if that theme holds true this will be the first Star Wars project created that doesn't explicitly have its plot affected by either of those 4 groups. Which IMHO is pretty substantial.

So, is that a good thing? It's obviously good (and necessary) to branch out story-wise and explore other areas of the galaxy. Or is this more of a double-edged sword? Without any of our main governing or force-using factions in the story, are we losing interest? Is this one of the reasons the series has had mixed reviews so far?

Or is this all for naught, when in the final scene of the series Fett is revealed as Supreme Leader Snoke?
    just sarcasm. calm down. =D

Vote in the poll, and speculate below!

I voted for none of the factions mentioned as I really don’t see how they fit in to the show.
The only one that might make a appearance is a very early version of the FO as they have made a appearance in The Mandalorian.

Personally, I like TBoBF's different vibe.

Don't get me wrong, I like to see Jedi BUT they kind of lose their sparkle when everybody on screen is a Force-wielder. One of the things that bugged me about the PTs were the number of Jedis running around showing off their lightsabers.

One of the reasons why 'The Rescue' and 'The Jedi' episodes of The Mandalorian were so fantastic is because they were the only 2 episodes in the series so far to feature Jedi.

BTW, the OP features an amazing shot of BF on Tatooine.

Wasn't sure where to dump this thought/opinion - but I hope that the show sticks to the Outer Rim and doesn't feel the need to bring the ying/yang of Jedi/Sith or Rebel/Empire (and derivatives thereof) into TBOBF as I'd like to see more SW content which stands apart from those elements.

Chapter 5 obviously laid out pointers that a certain small green fellow and his adopted teacher could be featured in this week's episode, but I'm really hoping that's not the case as it doesn't really fit the Boba narrative ...and will only act as fuel to the fire that the Boba show needs to be intrinsically linked to Mando to 'prop it up'. As much as I enjoed the recent chapter, I'd rather the 'muscle' Shand was referring to had been free agents other than Djarin - like the OG bounty hunters, Cobb Vanth, Mayfield or even Aphra (given Krrsantan's recent appearance).

On top of this there's the question of how does Din even know where to go looking for Grogu - or is Luke's address conveniently printed on the child's school reports?

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I’m guessing the vast majority of Star Wars Mando fans STRONGLY disagree with you. :D

Obviously I'm voting with the knowledge of this recent episode, but I think all along the only option that would've made sense here (other than keeping it in the Outer Rim) would've been the New Republic. We saw an Imperial Remnant with Gideon, but that's pretty much destroyed now. I'm sure there are other remnants, but I think it would've been thematically weird to immediately show another one. I'd imagine they're supposed to feel rare.

The New Republic are the Space Cops now, and we see that in Ep5. That makes sense to me, though it does feel a little odd to have them patrolling Tatooine. Seems like their reach has already exceeded that of the Empire, whereas I'd always assumed that the New Republic would be much smaller.

idk, maybe Luke told Mon Mothma "Hey, I know Tatooine has like three small towns on it, but like a third of the important stuff in the Galaxy happens there, so maybe considering annexing it a priority."

(For what it's worth, and I might be proven wrong tomorrow, but I don't think Grogu & Luke will show up in TBoBF, at least not in this season. Grogu will sit out a couple more seasons of the Mando-verse, and be reintroduced when a little bit of training-time has passed. I believe he'll show back up in Ahsoka at the earliest, to go with her on whatever Esra-quest she'll undertake, to be conveniently removed from the galactic stage for a few decades, before they all re-emerge in the post-OT to butt heads with a super vilanous Thrawn).

I also don't really see Grogu showing up in Fett, but I do think we'll get him in Mando.

But do you think Mando is coming back this season? Based on his final words in the episode, do you think he's just going to show back up on Tatooine with a Jedi report card in hand and just be like "yeah, Grogu's doing great, wish y'all could've seen him"?

Not being sarcastic, I really don't know either. Very curious what tomorrow brings.

I expect that Mando will show up to help out in a fight, repaying the favor Boba did for him in TM: Ep.14 - The Tragedy, and then return to his own plots and series. I further believe that Grogu will sit out TM s3, and show up in TM s4 or Ahsoka, depending on how the story goes. TM s3 I assume will revolve around retaking Mandalore in some fashion, with the Darksaber a central piece to that puzzle, and Grogu won't partake... UNLESS, Din bites the dust in TM s3, in which case, Grogu will definitely come back for a reunion before that happens. *shrug*

If we’ve learned anything from Favreau and Filoni, it’s that they don’t do fake teases. Trust me, we’ll see both Grogu and Luke again in tomorrow’s episode.

In fact, BDH gave us a hint by including Mark Hamil’s young body-double as an X-wing pilot in Ep. 5

I heard they use TFFAOR (the far far away onion ring) to communicate secretly.

This we may never know. I can't see Luke or Ashoka for that matter handing Din Grogu's training address. That would be a distraction. We may have to chalk it up as Din using his bounty hunting skills to obtain the location. A put two and two together scenario. Just a thought.

Will be a Shame if Boba and Mace don’t hook up.

I think Boba story will finish up in other shows. This was just to show how Boba got to this Mandoverse.

The force is strong with you. You called that. Talk about going from one extreme to the other in one damm series. Who would have thought four weeks ago that we would be talking about Luke and Grogu in tbobf?

Well, I think an acknowledgement is in order here. I have been well and truly schooled!

I did NOT expect to get a Grogu training sequence in The Book of Boba Fett!
I so very much NEED a Live-Action Luke TV show :D
