Will Rey get her hand cut off at the end of Ep. 8?

this guy is just stupid.

 

Leia lose an ear , Finn lose a leg , Han Solo dies , Lando lose his p**is and Luke shaves his beard which is now tumbling in space intact but appears again in EP9. GL "Its like poetry , it kind of rhymes......hopefully it will work".

No seriously though . I say there is like a 50% chance on this one. JJ certainly don't seem to be afraid of bluntly rehashing old ideas for better and for worse so i think we might see something like this already in EP7. Don't we have reports of Finn getting injured towards the climax of EP7 ? I smell a classic SW amputation on that one. Even though i like everything i have seen so far visually i kind of get the feeling sometimes that he is trying to take the whole original trilogy and cram it into one movie.

 

I think Rey will because it seems like a Jedi-Skywalker tradition. If she's a Jedi, she looses it in a duel with a Dark Side wielding enemy (I'm hesitant to say Sith because personally I don't believe that the Sith will be coming back for this trilogy - that being said, I stay away from spoilers so I could be terribly wrong).

Anakin lost his hand against Darth Tyrannus/Dooku, Luke lost his against Darth Vader/Anakin. Leia was neither present nor trained, so she was exempted. Also, I'm not entirely sure the writers were aware of the whole - Leia is Luke's sister thing yet. Can someone source check me on that though?

Losing the hand was an extremely humbling event for the Skywalker boys too (at least temporarily in Anakin's case). It put them on a path to better themselves before round two, with both actually completing their training before their rematch.

Rey, if she is of the Skywalker heritage and is being/has been trained to be a Jedi, should lose a hand. A Skywalker not losing one in the second movie of the trilogy wouldn't feel right.

If anyone thinks that she'll lose any of her beauty over the loss, they have costumes and cosmetics for that. Heck, they could pull a Luke and make her new hand look exactly like her old one!

Anyways, those are just my two cents. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

 

I tend to see the whole "cutting off of hands" thing as a literary echo between Anakin and Luke and it was used for a very specific purpose. Not to say it couldn't happen to any of our new characters since that seems to be a by-product of lightsaber use. But I'm going to hope it doesn't happen. Not because of how it would look, but because it's a played-out device at this point that would detract from that one moment in ROTJ when Luke bests Vader and then looks down at his own hand.

 

I beginning to see this as a Skywalker family tradition all we need is Leia to join the club & were back at the redemption stage again.

i guess a true jedi would master the ability in both hands (or fot) hahaha, that would be a weird scene: arms/hands cut off & picks up the lightsaber with FOT & continues fighting i wonder what bodypart these guys use:

 

There is nothing that they can do at the point, just ask Anakin.

 

How come Jedi have a tradition of getting their hands cut and we,Sith Lords,don't! I propose a movement to all Sith Lords,dead or alive,CGI or real,to fight for our rights! I propose a singing initiation for all new Sith Lords for a reasonable price of 0.99$!!! #SithTraditions

So if the Sith are not coming back for this trilogy. The Sith will return in Episodes X-XII the SST perhaps with their own armada of ships. It would be awesome to see the Jedi and Republic have their own armada of ships and the Sith have theirs similar to the Fate of the Jedi book series. And of course they will team up with the Second or Third Order and their armadas, and there is a big awesome space battle showdown in Episode XII.

No, she won't. That insanity has to stop. Vader cutting Luke's hand became an iconic scene, so of course they had to include 149 severed limbs in the prequels. But let's be serious, it's ridiculous.

 

Careful now, you don't want to get accused of Lucas bashing. No matter how right you are.

 

Because The Force Awakens was so much like A New Hope, Rian Johnson decided that Rey won't have her hand cut off. She'll have her head removed and in Episode IX she'll have an organic body with a cybernetic head. Maybe it was the other way around? Darn it, I forgot...

 

I hope not. I like her hands.
