Will Rey get her hand cut off at the end of Ep. 8?

I think she may loose a hand as the Skywalker treatment.

 

Although cutting off limbs seems inherent to playing with lightsabers, I think cutting a hand off a main character is pretty played out at this point. I see the ST doing similar things in a different way. I will give two examples.

Finn - Finn getting sliced up by Kylo in TFA could be analogous to getting a hand chopped off. We will have to see how bad his injuries are in TLJ.

Kylo - Kylo getting sliced in the face by Rey (moreso than the blaster shot to his side) to me is a callback to Anakin getting his arm cut off in AOTC. I see Kylo as going down a path similar to Anakin, at least in terms of physicality. Both start off perfectly healthy. Anakin gets his hand cut off and Kylo gets his face sliced up. Then Anakin gets burned while getting his other arm and both legs cut off. I think Kylo is likely to get more seriously injured in TLJ, which will result in him relying on cybernetics and becoming even more like Vader.

If Kylo goes as I predict above, I don't see a need for Rey to get her hand cut off.

 

I'm actually really hoping Rey doesn't lose her hand and instead someone else does. Here are a couple of possibilities I had in mind...

1.) Kylo Ren: This is my favorite because, even though I believe Rey is Luke's daughter (or at least Han/Leia's daughter), this would be the third time a male Skywalker lost their hand and this time, it'd be the Sith Lord losing their hand. Anakin got his chopped off by Count Dooku, Luke got his chopped off by Vader / Anakin and now hopefully Kylo Ren will get his chopped off by Rey.

2.) Finn: I also like this one because it would feel somewhat unexpected and it would kinda allow audiences to relive Mace Windu losing his hand if you know what I mean

And then there's always the possibility that Luke could lose his last good hand or maybe his robotic hand, but I don't like that one as much for some reason.

 

Either Rey or Ben needs to. Ben is Vader's grandson, but Rey because she is the hero of the trilogy.

We all know 3PO is going to lose his other arm and have it replaced by a blue one in VIII. Got to sell those toooooooooys.

 

How many movies has 3PO lost a part or had a part replaced in? Going off memory:

TPM - Had no skin. OK, technically not losing anything, but we saw his innards. Plus, Anakin woke 3PO up without his eye in!
AOTC - Gets his head knocked off
ROTS - Anything?
ANH - Had a silver leg instead of his gold one. I believe he gets a gold leg at the end.
ESB - Gets blasted into pieces
ROTJ - Anything?
TFA - Has a red arm, then has his gold arm back at the end

 

He lost his memory.

I've posted this before in another thread a while ago, but I will post it here as well:

I actually hope that the lightsaber duel at the end of Episode VIII between Rey and Kylo (I'm assuming) will end with Kylo defeating Rey by destroying the Skywalker lightsaber, instead of Rey losing a limb. I think it will be quite a blow to us fans (particularly prop enthusiasts!) seeing the most iconic lightsaber in Star Wars history meet its end. This will then allow Rey to construct her own somewhere down the line.

The only thing that really hinders this theory is that Kylo seemed to covet the lightsaber in Episode VII because it belonged to Darth Vader, so I don't know how keen he would be to destroy it.

 

Rey is the daughter of the Wampa, who also lost his arm.

 

It seems that I was partially correct with this post back in February last year - the Skywalker lightsaber was destroyed!

 

OP is of course correct by taking granted that Rey is Skywalker.

Skywalkers do lose hands .

However ,she is a woman ,more precisely by opinion od many (mine to)Daisy Ridley is one of the most beautifull women in the world ,and in this case we hardcore fans will forgive J.J.Abrams if he do not implement this Skywalker rule in case of Rey.
