SPECULATION Will Someone From the Former EU Appear in Episode VII???

Any character with the last name of Sunrider would be a nice homage to the old EU.

 

All signs point to this as a possibility, since Karen Gillan donated her hair to Star Wars 7 when she cut it off for her role in Guardians of the Galaxy.

I haven't read any EU- Who's Sunrider? That's an awesome name. Very in line with 'Skywalker'

 

I will leave you with two names Nomi and Vima Sunrider they were Jedi during the Old Republic. Nomi in particular is one of my favorites. Google them ASAP you will not be disappointed. Both women have unique arcs that are just what I call GOOD star wars.

 

They should consider a Mara Jade reference just for the sake of the fans that spent all that time and money invested in those books. I have not personally read the Thrawn Trilogy, I am more of an Old Republic guy, but that does not change the fact the Mara Jade is a truly influential character that means a lot to so many fans.

Maybe there will be an a throw away character named Admiral Zahn on board a Star Destroyer. It sounds kinda Star Warsy. Seriously though I plan to give his trilogy a read. Everyone that has read it tells me only good things.

 

I don't have a wealth of expertise in the EU. What I've read has been mixed at best in quality. However, a few things I always kind of liked were from Shadows of the Empire -- Black Sun, Prince Xizor, Dash Rendar and his outrider. Those elements would be welcome to the SW canon IMO.

 

there are a lot of character from the EU id like to see appear in episode 7 or later episodes, but here are the top few of that list: Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Maris Brood, Starkiller, and last but certainly not least Darth Reven. call me crazy but heres hoping.

 

Wonder who you would pick as the best character to add in the mix from the EU?

I agree with you there as I'm sure many fans would. Mara Jade has existed in the Star Wars family (albeit non-canon now) for about 23 years now. She's "existed" longer than the PT for instance.

 

Mara Jade and Thrawn of course, more than likely reimagined. Dash Rendar and Xizor.
Revan was a cool character and so was Darth Bane (I alway picture Vin Diesel playing him for some reason).

 

Unless they've done an excellent job of hiding an older actress from us (and assuming Luke and Leia didn't forget they are siblings) then I don't know why anybody thinks that some wife of Luke is showing up.

 

We did have a rumor that this was indeed the case -- hiding the actress in question from prying eyes. However, that was never confirmed by any of the major sources (IE Slash Film or Collider or THR) so just a rumor. But would love to see Luke with a wife and at least one kid.

Black Sun is still cannon. I was featured in some Clone Wars episodes along with an unnamed Xizor-looking boss.

I would be happy with some mentions. i.e. "remember when we fought that Thrawn guy? Yeah that was awesome." some stuff like that. They did that in the OT all the time. "Bounty hunter on Ord Mantel" "You lost her to me fair and square" Obi-wan vaguely describing the Jedi purge, the whole Greedo conversation. Just pepper in a few verbal cameos, no need to go into detail or explain anything.

As for a character, I think Kyp Durron makes sense. Mara Jade would be cool, except I would want her to be bad at first. Maybe she exists but she's dead now or something.

If they keep anything, I think it should be the Thrawn trilogy, but it's already happened and can only be referenced.
