With the original blue saber returning and being ,apparently, pivotal to the plot of TFA, will we still see Luke with his ROTJ Green Saber? I love the green saber and have always wanted to see Luke Skywalker return branishing that saber. My hope is to see a climactic battle between Luke and Kylo Ren, with Luke rescuing the other characters while weilding his awesome green saber. Also Luke saving Han too and having a grand reunion of the big three!! Thoughts?

We have seen nothing to indicate that Luke has lost the green lightsaber, so he in all likelyhood has it still. Whatever the blue one - i.e. Anakin's lightsaber - is/means to the plot, I would think Luke keeps his green one. The blue one will probably pass down to [name favorite candidate for being the ST's new Skywalker(s)].

Oh yes, I think Luke still has his, but I think there's more:

I personally believe that when the news emerges that the legendary Jedi, LUKE SKYWALKER has emerged from the shadows, that other Jedi (yes, I believe that there are more) will come out of the woodwork....but we won't see this right away, perhaps in Act III of Episode VIII.

If you'll remember the coliseum scene from AoTC when (seemingly hundreds of) lightsabers suddenly ignited and the battle was then on....we're going to see something like that again in the future...I feel it. I ALSO believe that when that happens, those other Jedi that emerge may not even know Luke personally, but we're going to see blades of all colors...like I said, not now...but it's coming....in this trilogy.

Interesting. I like it. It would be great though, if a dozen (to pick a number) old survivor Jedi's come out, all ancient and geriatric, weak in body but full of spirit. That would, IMHO, be a lot more interesting, and a LOT more emotionally dramatic, than a bunch of young wushu Jedis suddenly showing up. Luke is probably one of very few Jedi to be trained during the Imperial era, so most survivors would probably be decades older than Luke. I'd like this a lot!

Exactly, though my vision potentially includes their secretly trained apprentices...like say a Yoda or Obi-wan with Luke at his side type of scenario!

I love the green saber.... and would love to see a yellow one as well. When I was a kid, I had a figure of Luke from ANH, and he had a yellow saber... not sure why. But I would love to see one, or a white one as well.

I remember seeing the preview of ROTJ when I was a kid and seeing him with a lightsaber that was blue, and thinking not much of it really, just that "oh well, he's Luke, he went and got it back or something". Not much else. But then after standing in line and arguing with my sister over whether it was an Ewok or Ewox (singular. Lost that argument) we are watching the film and a GREEN blade comes out! It stood out to me, I was like "Wait, that's a new sword! It's green! Whaaaat? I thought you could only have blue or red!"

So yeah, I'd love to see that sword again. It's awesome.

Plus, I have a fan theory that the green crystal Luke used in his saber is one he found in Obi-Wan's hut that was left over from Qui-Gon's saber. Meaning that Luke defeated the Sith with a lightsaber powered by the crystal from the lightsaber of the first Jedi to be defeated in battle by a Sith in 1,000 years.

In star wars canon Jedi temple guardians have yellow lightsabers. As we can see in Clone Wars series.

Yes, before the end of this trilogy, we'll see all colors...potentially on the screen all at once! ;)

I'd love to see the green lightsaber return and to see Luke using it again. Nothing would please me more with Star Wars than seeing Luke, Han, and Leia all have scenes together.

But I voted "no" in the poll because those absolutely awful rumors from MSW are unfortunately very likely true because everything else they've said has been very accurate so far.

I would love nothing more than to vote "yes", and upon hearing the original trilogy cast would return I didn't even think this would be a question or even a thought, I thought it was a given that of course we'd see the OT big 3 cast interact and Luke use his green lightsaber again, but examining the evidence at hand, I simply cannot vote "yes".

In this case especially, I would much rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.....but color me disappointed at this point. :(

I honestly think that (if those rumors are true) and Luke perhaps had to intervene when Han is theoretically killed, I expect to see the Green blade....I personally believe we'll see it. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment and am setting myself up for disappointment....Naaaaah. It's SW...how could I be?! ;)

Oh, THOSE rumors where Luke kicks Kylo's ass after Kylo kills Han are awesome. I love Luke showing up to at least semi-save the day, and especially if it will mean Han Solo has some final moments with his good friend and gets the proper send off he deserves.

It's the rumors that the movie ends with Rey just walking up and handing Luke the lightsaber that I absolutely hate, and that's all we see of him. He never interacts with Han and Leia, never uses the green lightsaber, NEVER EVEN SPEAKS! That's what's got me worried.

Then there's the new rumors that Han and Leia have kids with other people we didn't even know existed.....and now Finn is a Skywalker? None of the new cast members look anything like the OT cast. Possibly Rey could be related to Han and Leia, or maybe if Luke got with a brunette, but Adam Driver looks like Jar Jar Binks' kid, and Finn doesn't look like he could be related to any of the big 3. Even if they wanted a black Skywalker he'd have to at least be a little mixed looking because Luke and Leia are both white.

I just hope a lot of this stuff is fake....I was so excited back in 2012 when they announced this.....now I've just grown worried sadly. I hope that changes when the next trailer finally drops.

Just wait, you're going to see Luke more that you've heard...I am 99% certain of this based on things we've seen...and in my own mind. The "Finn is a Skywalker relation" resurfaced today elsewhere....I just don't know about that tho....could happen I guess.

I do think the green lightsaber is the only lightsaber that Luke ever used that should be returning, I think it's ridiculous and very fanfic-y that the lightsaber Luke lost with his hand somehow returns. It really didn't need to, even if they wanted to do the whole "legacy" thing.....

Does the legacy of the lightsaber that was used to murder 30 kids with really need to be passed on to continue the Skywalker legacy? Especially when it takes so much effort and undoing of Empire Strikes Back to get it.... A New Hope is different because Anakin's backstory hadn't been fully conceived of yet, I think they could have used Luke's green lightsaber, or some other one to continue the legacy. The lightsaber is just an object, it isn't that important. I just don't like that it's back at all.

But whatever.....it's not enough to ruin the movie for me....but the rumors of the Luke cameo and no OT cast interaction are.
    --- Double Post Merged, Oct 2, 2015, Original Post Date: Oct 2, 2015 ---

That's great news and I love your positive and confident attitude with Luke's screen time! I just hope you're right. :)

As for Finn as a Skywalker....umm...unless it's revealed that Skywalker is like the "Smith" name of the galaxy in that it's not all that uncommon a name, I really hope Finn isn't Luke or Leia's kid. That just doesn't make any sense.....even Star Wars has its own internal logic and set of "realism"/rules to abide by.....giving blonde haired blue eyed Luke a kid who is on the opposite end of the skin color spectrum doesn't make any sense, even if one of them gets with a mate who is black. The kid would look racially ambiguous at the very least.

I also don't get why all the new characters would even have to be related to OT trilogy or previous existing characters.....it's okay for them to be new. In a galaxy as vast as Star Wars it makes sense that there would be other black people than Mace and Lando and some pilots and things - it doesn't make sense to me that Finn would have to be related to an OT character, let alone a Skywalker of all things.

Keep in mind, Shmi might've had siblings....it said he was "Skywalker relation" so I'm reading that purely at face value and not trying (too much) to over-evaluate it. ;)

That's true.....but I would naturally assume that Shmi's siblings would look like her in that she is white....unless she has a half sibling from a different parent who was black, making Shmi's sibling mixed, and then that sibling gets with someone who is black to create the Finn Skywalker line.....a bit convulted, but that's the only way I could see that working.

So much easier to just say he's a new character with no ties to anyone we've seen before lol.

    Meh.

I completely agree. I think the message of Obi-Wan telling Jedi to hide wait and trust the Force for a New Hope to reveal itself is setting the stage for a rally of the long lost jedi moment. This could even be the awakening, both the Knights of Ren (Dark) and the hiding Jedi (Light). I remember in the early 90's there was a 3 musketeer's movie with lots of old Musketeers pulling up floor boards where their hidden tabards and swords are and rallying to the cause.
