SPECULATION Will the ruins of Luke’s Jedi Temple be visited in Episode IX?

    I’ve been thinking about the scenes we have seen so far in VII and VIII regarding Luke’s former Jedi Temple. Everything with those scenes is so mysterious, with the events surrounding the temple and what happened on the night of its destruction in dispute with multiple points of view. It leaves a lot for speculation:

    Will Rey travel to the temple ruins in search of more answers? Also...where is the temple exactly? We never hear about its location in the films. Some scenes of it burning make it almost look like a desert setting. Tatooine? Others you can almost see it being in a grassy or wooded place. Naboo or Yavin? Just where did Luke build this temple, and could there be reason to go there that would fit the story moving forward?

    I’m starting to think this could be the context in which they bring back an OT planet in IX, but I’m not sure what the story reason would be for the move. Maybe Rey just wants more answers and wants to dig more through the rubble, both literally and metaphorically. Maybe this is even where she has an encounter with the Knights of Ren, who know she will be drawn to the place and spring a trap for her. There’s potential there for sure, I just can’t decide whether it makes the most sense from a story perspective.

    Possibly.
    From what I've heard, JJ has said he's drawing stuff from all 3 trilogies for Episode 9.
    So I'd say there's a good chance to see the return of a PT or OT planet for Luke's old academy.

    I speculated that we will. I don't recall seeing Lukes green lightsaber after the confrontation with Ben, and I'm wondering if it's still in the rubble for Rey to retrieve.

    That would be interesting. Originally I really wanted to see Rey make her own lightsaber, a part of me still does, but the more I think about it, it might not match her character arc. It could very well be that at the start of IX, the Anakin saber is still broken, Rey is getting by with her staff, and she needs to go to the temple ruins to obtain Luke’s old saber. Combine that with the Knights of Ren trap idea (as I recall they too were using melee weapons, not sabers), and you could have a pretty exciting opening act to the movie.

    If not in the movie, it may be cool to see a "return to the scene of the crime" in either the novels or an animated series during the time jump between TLJ and IX.

    I hope he'll reveal something that ties in all trilogies with a common theme. Like the ST isn't just some continuation of all three, but a conclusion to something started in Episode I

    I was wondering this, as after watching it a couple time i thought the island WAS Luke's temple, but actually no its where he went after the massacre. so yeah I would love to know where Luke's temple is...

    I really don’t think we will return to Luke’s fallen temple in IX. I’d be surprised if it happens. The only way I see it happening is if there is a flashback again to something that happened there.

    This leads me to wonder, about her vision when she touched Luke's lightsaber, that it's the future she's seeing when the guy gets turned in to a kebab by a red lightsaber... She works where the temple was, heads there, and is lured in to a trap by the Knights of Ren...and we'll see the confrontation that was glimpse in Episode 7....

    huh... i never wondered where Luke's temple was. i would definitely be interested in learning where all that took place.

    i kind of doubt we'll get much more history on what all happened in 9, but neat idea in the op!

    I think the temple would be worth revisiting, and might offer Rey some clues as to Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren, as well as how exactly Snoke seduced Kylo (perhaps related to some greater understanding of the Force, or simply how to defeat him).

    I could definitely see it as a place she has to go to retrieve some sort of MacGuffin. That was among one of the early TFA concepts (with Death Star II), and JJ isn't exactly known for thinking outside of the box...

    Rey will return to the place of secret Jedi academy, and I think to Ahch-To.

    On Ahch-to there are left some important relics that Luke has obtained.
    Like mysterious space compass..which leads to somewhere ...

    I think ep IX will be putting together peces of puzzle.

    I senses it.
