Since the technology wasn't quite perfected in ESB, do you think it is possible that the Ugnaughts have since then perfected it? If so, do you think it will ever be visited again? I don't think it will be a major plot device, but could be cool to see a Bounty Hunter who uses the method or some old boss who has a collection of Carbonite plaques on their wall! Maybe some old characters can be brought back this way?

I hope that's where we find Lando, in perfect hybernation.

Great way to explain his absence from TFA and give him some room to breathe when he finds out that his double-crossing buddy is long gone.

They already recycled enough from the OT.

What would explain him being so much older if he's in a stasis ?

How long was Solo in Carbonite, 3 years?

I'm NOT saying Lando's been in carbon freeze the whole time in between films.

Apparently it was only for a year.

    There you have it.

Lando doesn't need a 30 year chill, just a reason why he couldn't be there to help during TFA. Bounty on his head, captured, put on some crime lord's wall, whatever... Disney is fond of recycling the OT's signature events so that's why I'm all in on Lando's hibernation. In the name of continuity, of course.

I guess that it would also take into account for how long exactly he was on Dagobah, too .

I wasn't actually referring to Luke I was replying to @Lord of the Rens's post on how long Han was frozen in carbonite, as for Luke's jedi journey it surely would take longer than a year.

I think it served it's purpose, being in TESB as the actual process and the product in both TESB and ROTJ. I think we'll get something else instead :)

I hope to see more originality in a Star Wars movie, especially with the plot.

If it does, not in the next one. What with the cries of "unoriginality" (I loved it and even I have to agree it hit the callback button a bit too much) I think it needs to go in a bit of a different direction.

As long as it is justified in the story no problem with me. But I reckon it might be harder since for ESB there was a reason they had the carbonite freezing in Bespin for the gas mining and it turned out convenient for the Dark Lord's purposes - do a trial on Han to freeze Luke to take him to the Emperor.
