Will we ever see Wedge Antilles again?

As far as the Sequel Trilogy goes, I doubt it. Other movies though, it certainly isn't out of the question. If LucasFilm is willing to recast Han Solo, then they would have no issues recasting supporting characters like Wedge.

 

I think we will. Only in the Rebels series though. Since they had the wedge episodes I can see season 3 go alil R1 route and have more space fights and have Wedge help the crew through certain situations.

 

Denis Lawson (Wedge) has called SW boring recently. I hope the Story Group kills of Wedge soon in the nucanon.

I mean, I don't care about Denis Lawson, I care about Wedge LOL.

 

Unless they do an origin story (which I doubt) the only way we will see him is in other media since they would never recast him for the sequel trilogy.

 

I hope Wedge dies in Empire's End. Heroically of course. Also as punishment for DL calling SW boring.

Wedge is the best pilot in the SW universe.....first, he saved Luke's life at Death Star I (and was one of 4 surviving ships)......second, he was the only snowspeeder pilot to bring down an AT-AT with harpoon and tow cable....finally, as Red Leader, he very skillfully piloted his X-Wing down the Millenium Falcon-shaped hole in Death Star II and assisted in the destruction of it.

 

He's been in a couple of SW Rebels episodes now.

 

I didn't know about Lawson's comments on SW being boring. He's a jobbing actor and not exactly A list - the last time I saw him was in an epsiode of BBC's New Tricks; if Disney waved a pay cheque in front of him, he'd take the job, no question.

But do the new films need Wedge? I don't think so. I'd be surprised if the makers of the new films even know who he is, to be honest.

Lawson's appearance at the recent convention certainly was a surprise. And to hear him say "I'll be back" was very encouragaing, just in terms of the possibility of him returning to future conventions. As with Harrison Ford, it's clearly taken him some time to fully appreciate the true worth of the films with which he was involved but it's good to see he's had his head turned round. From the interview, it's obvious Lawson enjoyed himself and now accepts his role in the success of these films.
