The Aftermath novels mention that Sidious sensed "the source of his power", "a powerful dark presence", etc. in the Unknown Regions. Many thought that this was Snoke, but the novelization of The Last Jedi confirms that that isn't the case. Will Episode IX reveal what Sidious sensed?

I think we already know that.

There were progenitors, starters of the knowledge about the Force. Many millenia ago, even before all the Republics, and Empires, before Jedi and Sith, before artificial (and false) division on Light and Dark side.

    The source..of knoweldge.

The data about planet with such people, are canon already.

And the time of it.....is coming.

Those Jedi books actually contain SOMETHING.

I personally doubt it. I don't think JJ read any of the Aftermath books.

It's more likely what we saw in last episode of Rebels will be in 9 then anything that the books have setup.

I wonder if there currently is an answer. I know a lot of people feel really disillusioned right now, and I think it's possible that there never was a planned answer to this, but I like to think things will eventually be tied back together.

When you consider what Dave teased all the way back at the end of the season 2 to now. I think people need to give Lucasfilm a bit more credit for having a overall idea of what's going on in their universe.

I think there's probably an idea for the ancillary canon in the books, comics and TV shows to connect into whatever mysterious place holder is out there. I just don't have much hope for that showing up in any of the movies.
I don’t know if Filoni devising a story point concerning his characters on his show is necessarily indicative of LFL’s premeditation as a whole, but I like your optimism :)

R1 took Saw Gerrera and put him into a movie. I just don't think you introduce something like this and don't except to use it down the line. Also, Luke saying "it's so much bigger."

Pablo suggested Jyn’s extremist mentor figure be an existing character instead of a new one and Gareth Edwards agreed. That’s not exactly the same thing. I’m sure this concept will surface again, but probably only in another Filoni SW project. What do I know though? I’ve stopped counting how many times I’ve been wrong :)

    Fallen whill...who created the sith.

The sith built a shrine...often defined predominately(more than temples) to be a religious monument.

Richard maquad once talked about a sequel trilogy villian higher than the emperor who controlled the fate of Luke Skywalker.

Luke than gets this weird compass that leads him to the planet he dies on.

What if the compass is the one ring...controlled by yhe fallen whill to lead people astray.

What if revan was the one who locked this fallen whill in the unknown regions.

I was loving this until you brought Revan into it. Are you suggesting introducing Revan to the canon as someone who existed before the Jedi and Sith?

nope....revan has much of his story intact, but with one HUGE change. Emperor vitiate(and the true sith) are replaced by this fallen whill, who is the threat that revan was trying to unite the galaxy against. But revan failed and instead decided to face him, imprisoning this fallen whill in a tomb after he unites the sith and the jedi(and the republic and sith forces) against him and his worshipers. The sith would evolve to become a more secular order after betraying their "god king"

revan reformed the sith before leaving them by making them into individualist, nietzschean supermen....seeking to dominate the force. the fallen whill original sith order was a cult of worshipers who seeked power for the fallen whills glory, whereas revans sith order was actively trying to dominate it and become gods.

revan would retire and return to his homeworld of lothal while the galaxy worships him(both the sith empire and the republic entered a fragile peace that lasts 1000 years before it restarts at a later date)...where he dies of old age, the loth wolves taking his body away.

similar to my old republic saga pitch...replace the prime jedi with the fallen whill in this link
