When I first heard the title, Episode 7 The Force Awakens, I had this vision we would see a montage of shots of force sensitive children awakening with the force in the end of the film. But we only got Rey, so Im hoping we get to see more Jedi in episode 8 and beyond.
It would be awesome to see new Jedi, with new costumes, force powers and a variety of new lightsabers designs (imagining the toy marketing frenzy) and Rey would be the Ashoka like mentor of the 6 padawan's in "A Test of Strength" in the seventh episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars/Fifth Season.

We know Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren wiped out the order, but were they all wiped out? Did some escape?

Please dont hate but I loved the prequels showing the jedi in their prime(similar to the Samurai/Edo period (1603-1867) but eventually they faded thru history. So based on this, will it be a new rebuilding of the order like in Jedi Knight:Jedi Academy. or will the order ever grow to the numbers they had prior t o Order 66(10,000 JedI) Do you want to see more Jedi than just Luke and Rey?

I think by the end of 8 they might find another Jedi in hiding or Force sensitive character, and I'm hoping by the close of Episode 9 there are many new Jedi on the rise. I also wouldn't mind if it was called something positive like "Rise of the Jedi" or "the Jedi Order". I would love for a more hopeful ending to this new chapter after starting out so dark. I hope to see small padawans again training with a master.

I like the idea though I think this trilogy need to end with Sith on top and Jedi rebuilding but hidden and changed. We probably need an ancient jedi around too, similar to Yoda or maybe Ahsoka could return and finally become a Jedi but have the deep wisdom of an older Master. who could help Luke in guiding the new Jedi order to avoid the Mistakes of the past.

I would suspect that if we see more Jedi in the ST it will be in IX as it is beginning to be built back up again.

Snoke's fear about Luke in TFA is that he'll come out of hiding an raise a new Jedi order. Certainly Luke trained some other people before Kylo Ren wiped out the new students. If Luke is the only one left and he's starting from scratch he's been a complete failure since Return of the Jedi. Perhaps that's why he left. If so, I hope that this awakening in the force means Luke is about to raise a whole new generation. That story would something new and exciting.

We could see flashbacks of Luke training Jedi but not sure if we'll get any new, present-day Jedi.

Do I want to see more Jedi than just Luke and Rey in Episode VIII (and beyond)? Yes. Absolutely.
Do I think we will see more Jedi than Luke and Rey in Episode VIII? Given the setup of the situation according to TFA, no probably not.

Would I hate on your like of the portrayal of the Jedi Order in the PT? Heck no. I loved the PT and it's portrayal of the Jedi is just one of the reasons why I do. The force and force users (whatever their creed) are the central elements of the Star Wars universe which separates it from every other franchise. In so many ways the PT did a masterful job of expanding upon and enhancing the foundation of those elements as laid out by the OT -- an in-universe fact the PT detractors will never accept because these expansions don't fit their vision of the force, Jedi, etc. or the saga.

I never expected there to be 100 Jedi knights this early in the post-RotJ era, maybe two or three dozen, but now there is only one (Luke, with perhaps one -- Rey -- or two -- Finn -- on the way). Nor would I expect a new Jedi Order to mirror the old one completely. There were reasons the old Order failed, but there are also plenty of great lessons (good and bad) to be learned from the old Order that could serve a new one.

It's highly likely we won't see this due to story developments (I expect Luke to die or be killed off at some point in the ST), but I would love to see Luke renew his efforts to build a new Jedi Order. I hope I am wrong about Luke passing in this trilogy, but it just seems like the way of the saga to this point for that to happen and this is after all the story of the next generation and not the previous one. That being said I would love to see new Jedi of varying species like we saw in the PT and (to a lesser extent) in the post-RotJ legends material.

???????? Not see the OT???????? Luke Leia are the last Jedi until Kylo and Rey perhaps Finn so that's FIVE, well four but still Leia has the force and we saw her use it in TFA, when she sensed Han die.

I think this may be likely. I wonder if at the end of 9, Rey is in a position to start a new Jedi Order, after Luke has died. But who knows, if they want to make 10-12, they may end this trilogy on a very dark note with Luke dead and Rey in a bad position.

Yeah that's one thing that an overwhelming majority of fans don't ever understand that the reason the prequels are the way they are is due to the jedi and the galaxy being in their prime...I hope we see planets like Coruscant and the old jedi temple there and maybe see some holocrons or similar.

I think we will and I think we've already seen other Force Sensitive characters, other than Maz, in Episode VII who may or may not become Jedi in the future.

Why nobody considers the possibility of Luke being in Achh-To training new Jedi students? It really makes some sort of sense, if his first students were killed he went to hidding and started training in secrecy new ones to stop the evil that destroied his first New Jedi Order. I didn't see or read anywhere that Luke was ALONE in Achh-To, that's just an assumption. In this case Rey must be the surviving student of the first Luke academy massacre, wich someone hide in Jakku.

BTW this topic remind me that:

Jedi Academy is my favorite Star Wars Video Game of all time (Master Katarn is missed)
Since Maz force scene was cutted we don't have any confirmation if she is Force Sensitive (hope not, i don't want Yoda 2.0)

Leia was never a jedi, she just had force sensitivity which does not make one a jedi.

I didnt like it because it didn't fit the OT's vision. It didnt expanded the lore about the jedi, but straight up contradicted it. In the OT the jedi were described as barely known misterious warriors, keepers of the peace, while in the PT they were celebrities in the middle of Coruscant who sit in circles all day, crying about how clouded they are, and all of them wear uncle Owen's outfit for some inexplicable reason... So basically nothing more than just part of the boring bureaucracy of Coruscant.

If there will be bigger number of jedi in the furhter movies, I hope they will bring up a completly different presentation of the jedi knights. Make them misterious again, make them interessting again...

Forgive me for straying off topic here. The PT does not contradict anything about the Jedi or the Force from the OT, it only builds upon everything established by the OT. I find your characterization of the Jedi in the PT, and the OT as well for that matter, to be absurd. The Jedi are not "celebrities" in the PT and are every bit as "mysterious" as they ever were. There are just more of them in the PT which may be a shock to some as the OT is post-Jedi purge and the PT is pre-Jedi-purge. The garb of the Jedi in the PT is on par with that of those seen in the OT and in many ways also very diverse per the individual Jedi. There is a deep seated and myopic anti-PT agenda which clouds the vision of its detractors from the many great strengths that that trilogy has and further blinds them to the fact that Star Wars (OT,PT and ST) is one powerfully interconnected seven (soon-to-be-nine) part saga.

By celebrities I mean they live on the center of the Galaxy where everyone should exactly know who they are and what they do. This is a contradiction for example to what Han said in ep IV. I mean how on Earth, I mean Coruscant, would he ever doubt the existence of the force, when he must've seen the jedi and the clone wars with his own eyes... Noone would speak about jedi knights as something, ancient and misterious, when 19 years before ANH 10.000 jedi still lived on Coruscant...
Admiral Motti would never doubt Vader's powers after he's seen the clone wars only two decades earlier... That is why Im saying that the original vision of the jedi knights was rather similar to ESB Yoda's. Living in solitude, teaching the students to this misterious art which is barely known to anyone outside its users...

The SW saga is indeed interconnected, but sadly that dosen't mean there arent any inconsistencies between the trilogies (mostly between the OT and the PT).

I don't want to see any more Jedis in SW as they were in PT and as Luke was in OT.... and I hope we won't see any...not in that traditional understanding of the order with using only the light side of the Force...and forbidden attachments.... that is as false as is the Sith way ...

Gray/Dark Jedis are what I hope to see...using both sides of the Force but not succumbing to either...

The Force has ways....not a way...

No need to hate here as I too share both your love for the prequels and your desire to see new Jedi my friend. It would really be awesome if some of Luke's other students survived but sadly by the looks of things I would dare say that we won't get to see any in episode 8 and the only Jedi we will see are in fact Luke and Rey.

My suspicion is that Rey's mission at the end of IX will be to find these other Jedi that fled and went into hiding after the temple was destroyed. She'll have some higher purpose at the end of this 3 film journey, and they might even have her walk off into the sunset like the original plan for Luke's last scene in ROTJ before they decided to perk up the mood a bit.
