SPECULATION Will Wedge & General Madine appear in Rogue One?

Two essential Alliance characters I forgot to mention: Dave (Red Leader) and Pops (Gold Five). Both are veteran pilots in ANH, both would make great mentors / father figures for the younger pilots and volunteers.

 

I'm not sure how a younger actor playing Wedge would be confusing, so long as they cast the right actor.

Dennis Lawson burned his bridges, he's never gonna be Wedge ever again.

 

I agree..... there is enough connection right now with the entire sage.
Do we really need all these connections?

 

Well we almost got Wedge in TFA a until the actor declined but I think it would be hard to write him in to R1 unless it's a quick cameo some think it would be cool but I agree that we don't necessarily need the connections .

 

Id love to see Wedge, and maybe other members of Red squadron appear in Rogue one. It would give their deaths a little more meaning in "A New Hope". If they are recasting an actor to play Han Solo, they sure as hell can do it for Wedge and co.

 

I agree. It would be cool if Wedge had a role in R1. He's one of those minor characters that everyone seems to love (I think the old EU novels had a lot to do with that). I think it would be a missed opportunity if they don't include him in the film at all.

I don't think we'll see Crix Madine, at least not with the Rebels. I guess we could see him with the Imperials though. I wonder if he still had the same haircut back then?

I'd also love to see Mon Mothma or General Dodona make a cameo.

 

In my opinion I see hardly to have Wedge - though I would like him to be part of it - due to the timeframe of the movie compared to ANH. I can understand at a certain extent recasting Mon Mothma - since the first we see of her is in ROTJ - but with Wedge it might be a little bit confusing. I could have him mentioned, though.

I reckon a best place to include him would be in "Star Wars Rebels". We don't know yet in ANH how long he has been part of the Rebellion, but it would be awesome if they introduce the character in Rebels Season 3 doing a run with the Phoenix Squadron and interacting with Hera and Commander Sato.

Madine would be a similar case as Mon Mothma, since the first we see of him is ROTJ. They could have a younger Madine still in the Imperial side.

I know! I mean, from the statement of Tagge in ANH, the Rebel movement was bigger and more organized than some Imperials wanted to believe... so I would have Wedge doing a mission with another Rebel cell - something we learned from the early stages of the Rebellion from "Star Wars Rebels" - while the events of Rogue One take place. He might have come back to Yavin 4 while Obi-Wan and Luke get to Mos Eisley and Alderaan is destroyed.

 

Agreed I would like to hear ''right with ya boss one more time'' but I don't think it will be his last flight, I want to see him become a admiral.

 

YES JUST YES. That would be so cool to hear that line once again! I hope red leader says "lock sfoils in attack position" as it has become quite a memorable line for me, and I would probably freak out, and jump out of my seat, in the theater like a crazy person.

 

I know I still get goosebumps rerunning that scene, Luke owned him back time for that save, I always wondered would someone , it's a shame Denis Lawson won't come back for the sequel trilogy and I didn't know at the time he & Ewan McGregor were related.

- Crix Madine (the Imperial Officer that helped out the good guys)
- Mon Mothma (the big Rebel Leader)
- Wedge Antilles, Biggs Darklighter and Porkins (the best Rebel Pilots)
- Leia Organa with R2 and C3PO (helping out the mission)
- Lando Calrissian (the scoundrel that provided the information)
- Emperor Palpatine (simply because we already know the big man will be in the movie - Live Darth Vader)
- Gran Moff Tarkin (if we respected the original movie, this guy should be the main bad guy here)

Wedge - Possible cameo where you only see him helmeted in an X-Wing cockpit

Madine - Is it still canon that he was an imp defector? Either way, I don't think we'll see Crix. Might see Veers though.

Ackbar - Pretty sure the Mon Cal only joined the fight after Hoth. Could be mistaken though.

A young Wedge would be a great addition to this movie! I'm so looking forward to it. Wedge is one of my favorite characters in the EU/Legends. Would be nice to see him again on the big screen

 

Yep agreed he would be a good addition, but he would have to left out of any scenes with the death star to give reason for his ''look at the size of that thing'' quote in New Hope, maybe a xwing run on another planet.

 

From the appearance of the partisan X-wing, I doubt that rogue squadron will be involved so much in the fighter action, but another group. On the other hand, who knows who will join the fray…

 

Well we are in the earl stages of the empire's reign so the rogue one name may not have been earned yet , cool pic.
