Rian Johnson bent for his Chinese paymasters on Looper. Of course he'll play within certain lines for Disney even if he denies it. They're the ones paying for this.

Else he would've met the fate of Trank, zombie Edwards, Lord & Miller, and Trevorrow.

It's a trailer....people. not the actual movie. If you really think they will show more than the teaser, you're gravely mistaken your highness. I really just don't care about the trailer. WAKE ME UP when the movie releases.

But the changes made to Looper didn't really affect the plot in any way. The main focus of the story in form of the young boy, who was supposed to become a criminal mastermind, and his relation with his mother wasn't affected in any way by whether main hero went to France or to China.

Like I said, I've had the same reaction to similar comments on other projects.

This is one of the many reasons putting out a teaser with almost nothing of interest in it, releasing the same 12 pictures and nothing else for 6 months is a bad strategy.

It reinforces negative perceptions because there's so little information and even less variety of it.

Hope you like the trailer. One thing they've been good at is making all of them feel like SW

I think Hamill's comments are a defense mechanism in case the fans don't like the movie, and he can say, "I told you I didn't like the story, don't blame me!" If you listen to many quotes from Hamill, it sounds like he never wanted to do the ST in the first place, but was stuck once Fisher and Ford signed on. His rationale (which is a legit argument) is why go to the well one more time when the OT is great? He probably feared after the PT backlash that there was no upside to bringing back the OT characters, and it could only tarnish the OT at this point. So Hamill is sort of playing it both ways now saying at first he disagreed with everything Johnson wrote for Episode 8, and then taking it back. I honestly don't think Hamill's heart is in this Trilogy as he hopes the fans don't turn on his like they did at Lucas for the PT. I think he shouldn't worry now because TFA was the movie that was going to make or break the fanbase, as I think most fans are on board for the rest of the Trilogy.

    No, trailers are often misleading.
