To me the answer is obvious, but I'm curious what others are doing. As much as I would love to see it opening night on a huge IMAX screen, the 3D aspect is of no interest to me. 3D movies tend to give me headaches. But more importantly, TFA was not filmed in 3D. I want to see it on a traditional 2D movie screen on opening weekend, the way a Star Wars movie should be seen.

(That said, I may try out the 3D presentation a few weeks down the road if I'm still hungry for repeated viewings...)

What are your plans, and why?

I personally love 3D and cannot wait until they release the other 6 in 3D which they will obviously do at some point. So 3D for sure.

seeing it in 3d Imax on the opening Friday then a couple of times in 2D for comparison. I don`t like 3D personally but its the only way to see the Imax version which is a shame as interstellar was in 2D Imax & the sound was amazing

LOL- I honestly do not know. I told the ticket seller I wanted 2D but when I look at the tickets, the abbreviations on there seem to indicate it's 3D. Also, they were more expensive than average- I think. My husband always gets the tickets so I have no idea if $15 tickets are normal. (I swear, some days you'd never guess I have 26 years of education).

2D...I am not a fan of 3D. The only movie I have ever seen that was worth seeing in 3D was Avatar. I will probably go to the Imax screens for one of the viewings just for the thrill of seeing the flight scenes.

I got tickets for the first showing in a 2D theater. I plan on seeing 3D at some point but the first time I see TFA I want to focus purely on the story.

Going to see it in 2D first to get the full beautiful amazing values and stunning quality out of it. Then I will go back and see it in the 3D showing. I will definitely see it in both because I want the quality first and the collectible 3D glasses second.

is there an educational video somewhere that shows a scene or an an object filmed with stereoscopic cameras and then that same object or scene is filmed with one 2d camera then processed for 3d so we can differenciate between the two ?

3D, because I don't know a cinema in my environment with a 2D Screen right now.
In germany it's forced to watch movies in 3D nowadays, even at small cinemas.
I would have watched 2D, it's cheaper and I'am not a big 3D fan at all.

Had to go with 3D as that is on the imax screen at the local and the other showings are on smaller screens. I would have preferred 2D to be honest as I think 3D can be distracting and if the film isn't shot with 3D in mind, is kind of pointless. Having said that, having the Millennium Falcon fly at me could result in, well, a party in my pants. (yoda)

2D for me. There will likely be enough over-excited Star Wars fans whacking me in the head with plastic lightsabers as it is, I don't need the extra headache 3D gives me.
