    Before I begin, I should mention that this question is for people that do not like TLJ. It is not intended to offend anyone that likes the film.

    With that being said, I am one of many that strongly dislikes TLJ - I have truly given everything I have to like and accept this film and can’t - and although it is Disney canon, I hope that JJ will make the sequel trilogy watchable without 8. There are several indications that he plans to undo what Johnson has done to the franchise; and if that’s the case, will this film even matter?

    During future viewings of the Star Wars saga films I intend on skipping 8 all together. Does anyone else plan to do this as well? Or are there those of us that dislike the film, but will still feel obligated to sit through it?

    I skip a decent number Clone Wars episodes, maybe one or two of Rebels, maybe a couple of Resistance episodes, and I use the fast forward function through a couple of TPM scenes, a large portion of AOTC, a few scenes in ROTS. I skip Maz's appearance in TLJ, and that's about it. Everything else is cool.

    So you watch The Phantom Menace but not Revenge of the Sith? We all have different opinions, of course, but this is very interesting to me. I'm curious, what is so appealing about TPM compared to AOTC or ROTS?

    Nope. It's apart of the story. Things I do skip is every Padme and Anikan romance on scene on Naboo in Episode 2, I skip every R2 and 3PO scene from landing on Tatooine until they reach Lars and Luke in ANH and in the ROTJ, I skip most of Jabba scenes and every Ewok scene until when Luke uses his force powers to make 3PO seem powerful. There's really nothing in TFA and TLJ that I will skip despite thinking both movies are mediocre.

    I just don't watch the movies I don't like regularly like I do most Star Wars films.
    I watch ALL of them in their entirety before the new ones (and even try to once a year anyways for posterity's sake)

    I don't plan to watch the saga again. Maybe the Clone Wars but that's it.

    So you just spend time on a forum talking about the movies you are never going to watch again? Heck of a way to live. To answer the question Solo is the only movie I will skip on a marathon.

    I originally decided against commenting on this thread... 'cause I deemed that I have nothing useful to say to the Original Poster, but... seeing as other Cantina members that I admired have replied, I guess I could venture a try as well... yes?

    Well, here we go (oh goodness gracious me!):
    The idea of skipping TLJ during full-saga viewings of the films is complete and utter insanity to me. I cannot wrap my head around such a strategy; to skip the artistically climax of the series? I... I couldn't even... I do not understand... This is as baffling to me as fans putting RotS at or near the top of their favorite SW movies; I mean, what? All the more power to you, people, but your regarding of RotS as superior to any OT or ST or anthology film? I... We simply do not speak the same language, movie appreciation-wise.

    And finally, for good measure; TPM is a MUCH stronger SW movie than RotS, but this is not the place to discuss this, I think. ('Cause this is about TLJ?).

    To sum it up... (and this reply doesn't make any sense in the context of this thread, as I am squarely NOT in the OP's target audience, but...) I wouldn't skip TLJ for any other movie if I had the chance. And what's more, it hurts me, in my soul, that some people doesn't "get" (<-- look, quotation marks = not to be taken as a quality judgment) TLJ. I fail to fathom how people can hate TLJ... I have read tens of thousands of words of hate speech, but none of that makes sense any to me, none of it... We speak different languages and it hurts me, really pains me as a SW fan, that we cannot find common ground.

    So, yeah... No, I will not skip TLJ on any subsequent chronological viewing of SW films.

    [[[Sorry, but I love TLJ...]]]

    Ok, that's one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Why would you still be here?

    This is no surprise, but I DO NOT LIKE TLJ. I feel that TLJ is the worst Star Wars...anything. I think the Holiday Special and the Ewok movies are better.....however, I am still a Star Wars fan and to watch the Saga, you cannot leave out TLJ, no matter what you think, ITS CANON!. Now, will I skip Canto Bight, yes, or I'll sleep through it like I have the last 3 viewings (yes, I hate it, but I've still seen it 5 times, 2 in the theater and 3 at home). I do think that JJ will fix some things that are wrong with TLJ, but he isn't going to make it not exist. He might make some assumptions from TLJ incorrect (like maybe Luke just beamed himself to Sandals for some RR after his hard work sitting on that rock), but the movie will stand as part of the saga, just as all of the films will until they Reboot the whole thing in another 40 years, for which I'll likely be dead.

    ahhhhhhhh!!!! stop merging my freakin' posts!!!!! It's not a double post!!!! These posts do NOT belong together!

    There is certainly no need to apologize for liking the film! I'm glad to know that some people like it. I, however, don't like it.

    I would like to explain my thought process on this and hope that you can respect my opinion as I do yours. I will also refrain from phrases like "here we go" and "goodness gracious me!" because it's perfectly okay to have a different opinion than somebody else; there's no reason to be offensive or to treat someone as if their thoughts are tiresome, annoying, or ridiculous compared to your own.

    Star Wars is very important to me (and all of us, obviously), I hold the franchise close to my heart. Without getting into the specifics of why I don't like the film, my main complaint is the lack of attention given to the sequel trilogy as a whole. I feel like JJ had a vision and direction of how the story would unfold. It's been mentioned many times that Johnson did his own thing, and even Colin Trevorrow didn't agree with the direction the film was going, which is why he was still on board after TFA, but parted ways during the production of TLJ. This makes it obvious that a complete story was not set in stone, or he probably wouldn't have agreed to be a part of the project in the first place. Star Wars is sacred to me, and I just feel as though TLJ truly showed Disney's carelessness in handling of such a precious franchise.

    The trilogy seems to have been handed back to JJ with hope that he will provide the best and most complete story that a director and visionary can offer. With Johnson's version upsetting so many fans, and essentially losing a talented director that didn't want to be a part of what had become of the story, it makes me treat TLJ like it was a dud within the arc of the story. We won't know for sure until IX is released, but if much of what Johnson has been done turns out to be "undone," I won't be able to treat TLJ as a film worthy of the saga. (If JJ does undo things, I'm sure he will be very careful how he does it and won't want to upset fans on either end of the spectrum.)

    Again, this is my opinion. I was simply curious to know if there are others that feel the same way about skipping the film. It was not my intention to stir up any arguments on whether the film is good or bad.

    I am truly happy that there are people that like TLJ; but I don't. I will pick and choose what I deem acceptable by my own personal standards and there are many others that feel the same way. I don't have to like something, or even be forced to watch something just because it's considered official, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

    I'm sorry you didn't like the film, but this "there was no plan" narrative has been debunked over and over. I won't take this off topic, but some claims about the production about this trilogy just aren't factual. Trevorrow was fired because his story wasn't approved not because of some farcical issue he had with The Last Jedi.

    The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strike Back. It took risks, but it also paid homage to the past. It challenged the characters both old and young and cleared the deck for the last act. The only really bad Star Wars film is Attack of the Clones, but I still watch it.

    I have MAJOR problems with TLJ, and my view of it changes after every time I watch it...something that can't be said for most movies. Despite all of that though, I can't not watch it. It's out, it's there, and as much as it pains me at times, it's a part of the story. I can't skip AOTC (my least favorite episodic film), I can't skip R1 (the music is bland, the characters aren't fleshed out, the story is superfluous), I can't skip TLJ.

    I really don't want to take this further off topic either, but AOTC is 10x better than TLJ, so are TPM and RoTS, CoC and BfE and THS

    I have a list on my information page on my profile.

    I list my "favorite to lesser than favorite" SW movies.

    Note I do not say "Most to least favorite"

    I love SW....all of SW.

    I can't actually get through TLJ so I won't be watching it in the future. I don't sit done and watch the films in order anyway, maybe the OT sometimes so it won't be a big deal for me. But yes, I find TLJ so shockingly bad than I just can't actually watch it all the way through.

    I hope IX has a decent story that is well told.

    - The battle droids look real in TPM (excellent CGI, even for today) x Clonetroopers look fake (why Lucas didn't use real actors like the ST and OT?);
    - No romance in TPM (just a weird connection between Anie and Amidala, but that was fast) x Worst love/acting scene of all time? In both movie (AOTC and ROTS);
    - Anakin in TPM, kind of annoying (not a great actor, but not a great director also..) x Anakin in AOTC and ROTS (Most annoying character of all SW universe, not a great actor and GL destroyed the character);
    - Yoda in TPM (horrible and weird puppet) x Yoda in AOTC and ROTS (He is not the same character from the OT and TLJ. He lost his essence with the fighting scenes. One of the worst thing that happened in the prequels);
    - R2 and C3P0 (kind of stupid the idea of Anakin as his creator) x CP30 in the factoring scene (was that scene real? What an horrible sequence with a horrible CGI), R2 flying and burning those droids in the begging of the film, just silly;
    - Palpatine (He is ok in TPM, Darth Sidious Looks cool as an hologram) x Palpatine in ROTS (another character that lost his essence, the emperor doesn't need to use a lightsaber, lighting it was suppose to be enough);
    - Darth Maul (a cool villain, sad that he died in the first movie) x Dooku, Grievous (worst villain ever), Palpatine, Anakin in ROTS, Zam Wessel, Jango Fett...too many villains to me;
    - Battle of Naboo (too much CGI) x Battle of Geonosis (a mess of CGI, we can even see all the details, too many things happening at the same time, worst battle of SW universe);
    - Pod Race (fun and great CGI) x Where is the fun in AOTC and ROTS?

    Well, I think I can continue but I will stop here. I think these are the main reasons why I can rewatch TPM and not the others two movies.

    By the Way, I consider TLJ a masterpiece.

    A thousand apologies! I did not intend to sound disrespectful in my previous post; I wanted to express my bafflement about people's hate for TLJ and the pain I feel over that issue. Sorry if my words were offensive. My bad. :-/

    i understand the poll (although there's no way of stopping ppl who like TLJ from voting lol) but the thread will cause nothing but arguments and insane sarcasm.. which is clear already.
