I think you went to say

In my opinion The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strike Back.

You can't write stuff like it is a fact when it is an opinion. That is where all the pointless fights begin.

I don't think the person must begin with "In my opinion...", because he is writing the sentence. Its automatic. So, of course its his opinion.

I won't be skipping TLJ when it comes to re-watching or even just casual viewing. Although there are flaws with TLJ, we need to be honest, there are flaws with all of them in some respects. I view TLJ as sort of Force Awakens 2.0 and i'm okay with the overall story it tells.

I've made it clear before that TLJ turned me sideways compared to all other SW movies, but it's part of the story that I love, and I'll see it again and again.

The ONLY SW material that I've EVER skipped and wont partake in is Resistance. Watched the first two episodes, and deleted it from my DVR list without reservation.

Honest question. What about Holiday Special and the Ewok movies made it better than TLJ? Did those movie has better CGI? Better acting? Better story? Better cinematography? Etc. Because what you stated is a bold statement to have. I mean, GL did everything in his power to erase Holiday Special from existence. When the creator himself tries to erase a movie, you know it is a factually a bad movie. Or you just say TLJ is the worst movie because you didn't agree how they handled Luke which to you makes it the worst movie of all time?

I was there before you buddy ...

There are links between members that outrank the quality of the last movie whether you liked it or not.

Simply, the overall treatment of what previously existed. I’m not going into all of this again.

Probably. It's not exactly exciting or entertaining is it? It's a tonally off, underwhelming sigh of a movie.
I bet the novel is amazing and some of the ideas RJ conceived of are brilliant but it just didn't work on screen for me. It's not as bad as ep 1 or 2 and it's slightly more engaging than RO but i think like those 3 I'm done with it for the most part now.

Wish we got a RJ written and JJ directed TLJ

I think you meant JJ written and RJ directed? I don't actually think that RJ did that bad visually, it's just a bad story (let's not get focused on the details) but take this for instance: https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2018/09/28/oh-baby/ the music wasn't written by RJ, and, well, it sucks, unless you are into weird techno babble crappola, then maybe it's ok, but the video is FREAKIN' AMAZING. Honestly, the first time I watched it, I cried.

This is a thread about people's opinions about a movie. I apologize if English is your second language, but it's not necessary to preface every opinion with "in my opinion."
I am curious when this "I have to tell someone I hate TLJ" compulsion will end. Maybe after The Rise of Skywalker? Middle episodes should be tough on audiences. It's the challenge for the last act to deliver a satisfying conclusion.

Probably shortly after the time that "I have to tell someone why TLJ is the best movie ever and I want to hold Riann Johnson's hand forever" compulsion ends, tee-hee.

TLJ is the only Star Wars film that I really have no strong feelings for, either negative or positive. For me, TLJ is just another piece of the puzzle. While I'm not ecstatic about it, I don't think it ought to be excluded from the saga. Nobody likes having a missing puzzle piece. ;)

In all fairness, when discussing things in print (typing), it is sometimes difficult to read between the lines and discern the writer's intent. Prefacing an opinion with "in my opinion" is a matter of courtesy and it espouses understanding between the writer and the reader. Personally, I put a lot of thought into what I write. I think about how it might be taken by someone with a different opinion and I make an effort to minimize any potential conflict between us. I mean, my purpose on these forums is to hang out with a bunch of awesome Star Wars fans, that's all. If I can help them understand my point of view by prefacing my opinion with "in my opinion", I'm gonna do it. :D

And there we go, insults. Is it really that much work for you to preface that it is your opinion?

    There were no insults.
By your logic, we would need to do this for nearly every post. It's clear it's an opinion.

The first four replies are chock full of opinions (including the one you took umbrage with) yet they didn't preface it with "in my opinion" it's a silly request bordering on baiting for a reply...

In my opinion, stating "in my opinion" prior to stating every opinion is redundant, and, in my opinion, repetitive. What is YOUR opinion?

I agree, it's my opinion that prefacing every opinion with "my opinion" when the discussing subjective topics that are purely based on opinion is redundant.

It is also my opinion that this opinionated discussion about opinions is off topic so I will not digress further.

My opinion is that when you went to say "i meant to say" you actually said "I went to say" which, in my opinion is odd while nitpicking peoples opinions on how to give an opinion. Just givin' my humble opinion.

Or people could be clear in how they communicate and not get all defensive at the slighest suggestion that they haven't. The amount of complaining I see here on the way people interact on this forum you would think others would be open to a discussion how to communicate.

When you make a blanket statement like

"The Last Jedi is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strike Back"

when talking about the rankings of movies it is a statement of fact, no matter what assumptions you have about a forum.

    But I'll shut now.
