If we're all trying to be technical, we need to type "I went to type" or "I meant to type".

TLJ is the only Star Wars film that I wouldn't watch again as it is by far my least favourite. Perhaps my opinion of TLJ will change if Ep9 can tie everything together.

I've watched TLJ twice end to end... and checked out a few scenes here and there to verify some things since.

I really doubt I'll ever watch it again. Unless IX somehow turns everything on its head and makes TLJ bearable for me, I just don't see it.

I'm not saying this to offend anyone, it's just my opinion. I watched that movie the second time and I felt worse than I did the first time around. It was different, because I didn't have the shock/anger, it's more just sorrow, the feeling of loss of opportunity. It's also the feeling of a waste of time. I have multiple issues with every act, and though I admit some are petty, they remain because many of the issues I have I don't feel are petty.

In short, I'll always like SW, but I don't think I'll ever really accept TLJ as SW. I did not like the PT, but I always considered it SW. I was able to ignore some parts and still enjoy it and after CW I appreciated aspects of the PT more. I don't think I'll feel that way about TLJ.

I'll finish by saying IX is the wild card. It's possible they had some elaborate plan that will pay off in IX and I'll gain appreciation for TLJ due to IX. It's also possible they have spin off movies, tv series ect that elaborate on the ST as a whole that could get me to appreciate it more the same way it did for the PT. Right now though, I just don't see it. But always in motion is the future.

My answer is really somewhere in between, but as of right now I struggle to find reasons I’d even need to watch the TLJ to experience the best of the ST. IMO there was almost zero consequential plot advancement from where TFA left off.

I feel like if I had never seen TLJ I would be able jump right from TFA to IX and barely feel like I missed anything. This Rose character was in TLJ? Oh, ok, she likes Finn...got it. Oh her sister died...sad, but who was the sister and why do we care? Some lady with purple hair died too? Hmmm, ok. How does her plot point matter now? There was a DJ? Cool...does he matter now? What about the kid with broom - everyone said he was really meaningful in TLJ, what do I need to know about him for IX? Oh, he’s a not character that matters either?

IX doesn’t need to retcon TLJ either because it’s almost entirely inconsequential other than Luke’s death. Now I realize that is comically understated because TLJ killed off the central OT character - Luke freaking Skywalker - but for me it felt utterly superfluous. It had zero emotional weight. Han’s death in TFA was poignant and emotional, but Luke’s was kind of like “Huh, guess Luke is dead...right? Yeah, think he is dead. Weird.” Had I never seen TLJ I could probably just make the assumption Rey handed him his saber and he was already a force ghost and now here we are reading the opening crawl for IX. Good to go.

I just find so much of the TLJ to be “stuff that happened”. It’s a beautifully shot film and very well acted, but I find it adds almost zero to the any major narrative.

To each their own though. It’s great so many see more in TLJ and I’m glad many still enjoy it.

Wow, more than a quarter of people that voted in this poll plan to skip TLJ. That's unfortunate.

Well, no one wants to respond to polls for some reason, I've got one going and I am surprised it's getting no action.

    not sure what happened there.....oops.

I personally watch TLJ for the beautiful visuals that Steve Yedlin and RJ created.
Not so much for the dumb story and sometimes baffling writing.

So yeah I will watch them all again before IX drops

These kind of polls don't really tell us much of anything. It's not a controlled sample. It only measure people who care enough to vote.

I've seen TLJ many, many times. It's not my favourite SW film by any means - I feel like it had some of the most cringey moments we've had since Episode I & II. But it also has some of the best moments we've had since Empire & Return. The humour is the bit that grates on me the most... really, really bad humour. But that last 1/3 of the film... wow.

I echo what a lot of people have already said... Just like Empire Strikes Back; I feel like TLJ will be a lot more meaningful once we see the big picture - because right now, we're missing our final piece of the puzzle in The Rise of Skywalker. What TLJ did brilliantly, is give JJ Abrams A LOT of stuff to work with, nearly a blank canvas with already established characters. I. CANT. WAIT!

Eh, I don't skip any of them.

Looking forward to setting up the projector on the side of the house and marathoning the entire series on 4th of July weekend while we hang out in the pool.

Prequels, Solo, Rogue One, OT, Sequels. It's not all my favorite, but it's all part of the experience.

Even though I am not a fan of TLJ (or mixed is a better word), I don't like to skip any Saga movies as part of the narrative. For years and years, I tried to skip TPM and thought the PT would flow better by just watching AOTC and ROTS. Then I tried to only watch ROTS as a standalone prequel for the OT, and it just never works. Episode 9 is the key to the ST (For me) as it could get me back into recognizing the ST as part of the Saga. Every Trilogy has one movie that is the weak link, and I have learned to appreciate the good and deal with the bad. ROTJ is inferior to ANH & ESB, so I appreciate the Throne Room scenes and tolerate the Ewoks. TPM is the weak link of the PT, but I appreciate the setup of the Republic, The Jedi Order, and Palpatines scheming, and tolerate Little Ani and Jar Jar. TLJ won't be any different as I would appreciate the Rey/Kylo Ren Scenes, Luke's Final Stand, and tolerate Flying Leia and Lightsaber Flipping Angry Luke.

Very interesting. I almost always skip AOTC, but watch TPM and ROTS pretty consistently. I'm hoping TROS picks up in such a way that it isn't necessary to watch TLJ again. (Again, this is just my opinion! I'm not trying to attack anyone I promise!)

I’m OCD when it comes to this stuff so I’m either all in or all out with each Trilogy. Lol!

That’s why TROS is so key for me as it has to give me something good enough where it will make me tolerate Luke flipping the Lightsaber over his shoulder (I absolutely disdain that scene and it’s a metaphor as to why I dislike parts of the movie so much). I don’t know what that answer is in TROS, but this happens in every Trilogy for me. The Throne Room scenes in ROTJ are so good, I can live with the Ewoks. The world building in the PT is so good, I can live with Jar Jar, Little Ani and Whiny Teenager Anakin. If TROS can wow me regarding Luke, regarding the Arc of the ST, regarding the return of the Palpatine, then I will be able to tolerate TLJ for the narrative purpose. Do I think TROS can accomplish that for me? Right now I would say no.

I completely agree. I hope TROS will offer an incredibly creative story that will make elements of TLJ "understandable" and bearable, but I too doubt this is possible.

It would take something drastic like the reveal of Luke from TLJ being a flawed clone for me to tolerate it.
