Not sure where this has a place in the Cantina but thought i would share. I picked these up at a museum today in downtown DC. If any modern tale deserves to be retold in the style of Shakespeare it would be Star Wars. Id say its more amusing than interesting...i never was into Shakespeare.

Here is the opening crawl from A New Hope

    Prologue: Enter Chorus

Its is a period of civil war.
The spaceships of the rebeles, stricking swift
    From base unseen, have gain'd a vict'ry o'er
The cruel Galactic Empire, now adrift.
Amidst the battle, rebel spies prevaile'd
And stole the plans to a space station vast,
Whose pow'erful beams will later be unveile'd
And crush a planet: 'tis the DEATH STAR blast.
Pursu'd by agents sinister and cold,
Now Princess Leia to her home doth flee,
Deliv'ring plans and a new hope they hold:
Of bringing freedom to the galaxy.
In time so long ago begins our play,
In star-crossed galaxy far, far away.

    Exit.

let me know what yall think.

That's pretty neat actually, just for the novelty.

Pray tell, which museum was it? I might just have to head up to DC sometime this week, after all this snowstorm business of course.

You can buy copies of these books at your local bookstore. The author just released his take on The Phantom Menace and he is working on Attack of the Clones.

I got them at Folger's Shakespeare library. This months exhibition is cryptology in the middle ages to present.

Interesting, I hardly ever go to that side of the Capitol. Need to check it out.

I might check them out there too if I get too lazy to make the trek (which is very likely). Not as much fun though.

I thought I'd post this on the anniversary of Shakespeare's death! (OK, I admit, today's Google doodle reminded me. :p) I have just worked my way through this series and finished The Clone Army Attacketh a couple weeks ago. If you're into plays, Shakespearean nudge-nudges, and clever and geeky wordplay, these are recommended! I'm looking forward to Tragedy of the Sith's Revenge and hoping there will be an edition for TFA forthcoming too.

    Best line so far:

    Exeunt, pursued by a wampa.

    :D

I love these series!!! I got the OT and looking forward to read the PT. I have been telling the author (Ian Doescher) via Twitter that he should be working on "The Force Awakeneth" lol.

I found really clever the way he mixed Shakespearian works (I am big into Shakespeare, so it is nice to recognize quotes from here and there) as well as even quotes from the Bible itself. The dialogues between Han and Princess Leia take a good leaf out of Romeo and Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew lol...

He even jokes with the "Han Shot First" controversy:

    HAN: Aye, true, I’ll warrant
    thou hast wish’d this
    day.
    [They shoot, Greedo dies.
    [To innkeeper:] Pray,
    goodly Sir, forgive me
    for the mess.
    [Aside:] And whether
    I shot first, I’ll ne’er
    confess!
    [Exeunt.

Ian does an amazing job with these. He makes some scenes even better. He had an interesting journey for Jar-Jar in the prequels. I look forward to these books more than I thought I would. I put off reading them at first then blazed through them. He has a knack for making me think about some details in a new way. Sidious dialogue is even better. I hope Rogue One and Solo get versions as well. I would totally pay money to see some theater produce one of these as a play.
