I’ll add that I think Solo in the May slot hurt it . Star Wars is a Christmas franchise now. Keep it that way.

Solo got zero looks at Celebration 2017. It got shafted. From what Bryan Young has been saying, kids love it. That’s all that matters. This new trilogy and films need to be loved by the next generation.

My guess is Rey will continue on with whomever wants to be included from the new characters with the exception of Chewy and Kylo. Those two will be a separate decision based on the end of ep 9. $$ to be made yet me thinks

Nonsense, the backlash against The Last Jedi is real. Unless they can find a meaningful way to bring back Luke EP 9's box office is going to be 1/2 of what TFA's was. The Last Jedi was a divisive slap in the face to fans the way it treated + the destroyed Luke Skywalker...You know, the face of the franchise.

They also said they were outlining 10-12. They've said a lot of things, they've never definitively said that Episode 9 was or was not the end to the Saga.

At this point, if it is the end to The Saga, it isn't because they wanted it to be, its because it has to be. Had TLJ performed strong and been accepted with Solo performing well and heading down the home stretch, they'd be making 3 more and saying they never intended to end The Saga at 9.

But if 9 ends it, i'm quite sure they'll come up with the... 'it was that way all along' stuff, if only to further implode their credibility.

Luke isn’t in Solo. It has nothing to do with TLJ. The backlash is also not nearly as widespread as these boards make it seem. Most fans are not losing any sleep over The decisions of Luke’s fate. You can either look at all the evidence or live your life in a hyperbolic chamber where Star Wars is destroyed and fans were slapped in the face. You know the same chamber from 1999 when George Lucas apparently metaphorically raped childhoods. Funny how that died down and fans moved on....

I am not sure how they can "not end it" unless the decision has already been made and it has been hashed out? This means there will be more films and that it is still possible OT characters could go on. It is a problem though because besides the obvious fact they are dead, even if you were to bring Luke back somehow will Mark be useful in another 5 years? Probably not, unless he assumes the role of Obi-Wan at the end. I do think Rey and co. go on to other films one day but unless a new generation of Skywalkers show up its going to be tough.

I doubt it’s over. But I also doubt we will get 10 -12 for at least a decade.

Not everybody calls it that, of course. They say they just don't care about Solo or Star Wars and/or blame DisneyWars, even if they didn't really hate on TLJ or want to pinpoint it as the cause.

Whatever their reasoning, the ultimate cause is TLJ broke them. They don't simply have the same sense of urgency to go run out and watch a Star Wars movie after TLJ, sometimes even if they liked that film. And as I've stated before, that's major brand damage.. and its real. It only exacerbates the problem to try to deny it and make excuses as Lucasfilm has done.

When you change the viewing habits of your fans, whatever the reason, such that you take-in far less money, you've hurt your brand. That is a universal, very easy to understand concept.

Very well said. I wouldn't say its a boycott, and honestly if it was a really amazing movie most would break and go see it. However, for those of us that grew up in the 70s and 80s would say that most movies that come out these days are 'passable' and can usually wait until DVD/Streaming. Disney would be wise to get their sh*t together though and at least appear like they can produce a Star Wars movie without it turning into a three ring circus. Solo proves that the contingent that will "go see any movie with the Star Wars name attached to it" is actually not a large enough percent of the audience to guarantee a profit. If they don't watch out, the production budgets are going to start shrinking and we are going to end up with movies the quality of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.

Nah. I think IX will wrap this trilogy up. It won't be the last of the Skywalkers from Disney though. We'll eventually see a new Luke (not just as a kid) just like we saw a new Han. It's inevitable. People seem to hate it when I say that but we all know it to be true. Though I'm pretty confident that IX will wrap up the trilogy, JJ may create other avenues and iterations of continuity.

Any document source from LFL on this? Something I've never heard or read about beyond fan speculation. I find it kinda ironic that everyone says there is no outline for 7-9, each director is writing it on their own, yet they would be making an outline for 10-12.

    You mean like this: http://www.slashfilm.com/future-star-wars-films/

    Or this: http://observer.com/2017/11/star-wars-spoilers-lucasfilm-rumors-rey-finn-kathleen-kennedy/

And they said there was an outline for 7-9 out of one side of their mouth before TFA even hit, while claiming a little later that Rainy had a 'blank page' to write anything.

They say a lot of things, often contradictory and covering both sides of the plate. Its why they no longer have much credibility.

Its like Haiku poetry. It rhymes.

General Hux is on the bridge of his star destroyer. He commands a fleet of destroyers. Hux looses a destroyer in his fleet named "Solo".

Hux confindently thinks the lost of Solo is not important and a warning for the upcoming battle..

    Hux gets ..
