SPECULATION With this kind of response, there's no way RJ's trilogy is happening.

If they thought Solo tanked...RJ film will need to pay folks to watch.

My point is that if the TLJ "haters" were as big or as influential a group as some people like to claim, TLJ's box office would have suffered due to poor word of mouth, which didn't happen.

If you want to see a movie, you go see it despite what people are saying ( it's my case ), word of mouth works for good movies.

TFA wasn't great but I wanted to see Ep VIII.

I won't go to see ep IX and this has nothing to do with the future quality of that movie. Even if people will say it's fantastic, I'll see it for free just to get my money back.

I'm sorry but Box office is not that good. The 67,5% drop on the 2nd week tells a lot. People didn't come to see it a 2nd time. TLJ made 1/3 of his viewings on 1st week.

It went off the screening rooms 3 weeks before R1 and 6 weeks before TFA.

We could argue until we're blue in the face, but the fact is that Lucasfilm isn't going to withdraw their faith in Johnson based solely on backlash against him regardless of how widespread said backlash actually is.

    Full stop.

As a business owner you most likely won't keep an employee that has done irreversible damage to the image of your brand. They will absolutely consider the backlash as they move forward. It's ALL about money. That's all that matters to Disney.

They didn't say a word about this trilogy since the movie came out. Iger said they are slowing down on movies, they announced Kenobi, The Mandalorian, The Clone Wars, The GoT dudes trilogy but I don't remember any word on something else.

    Maybe I missed it.

Did you hear something about that during the D23 ?

BTW, I'm not opposed for them to do something with Johnson again, the only thing I know is that I won't see it even for free.

Lack of news doesn't mean anything whatsoever as to this project's status.

That's just it, though: Johnson hasn't done "irreversible damage" to the SW brand or its image.

When you're proud of something especially in marketing, you put it on the table everytime you can.

No news is still a big question mark.

    Nope.

When there's actually news to report on Johnson's Trilogy, it will be reported.

Having a tough time seeing how this isn't another thread of "more people disliked TLJ than liked it and i can prove it"... i thought we had all tired of that rhetoric but I guess not.

Also, I wouldn't exactly equate the comment section of a random article to be representative of the general public's opinion.

Saying things like "Nope" and "Full Stop" are unnecessary. We are all speculating and none of us have any concrete data on this topic. There's no need to continue this discussion with such dictatorial language.

To add to your statement. I think it's interesting that they haven't said anything else about Johnson's trilogy, which leads me to believe that they never will. Out of respect (and to possibly avoid lawsuits), they'll probably never publicly acknowledge that it's been cancelled. If they came out and said that it's cancelled that would put Rian in a really bad position and potentially damage his career. I dislike the film, and even I wouldn't wish that upon Rian.

This is a discussion about the amount negativity on the internet of TLJ at this point in time and if Disney will continue pursuing a project with someone that very well could have damaged the financial potential of the franchise.

That news article was from Yahoo, one of the top 10 visited websites on the internet and is a good representation of the general population's opinion on the topic. There are many others.

Do you not think projects or agreements have been cancelled within the film industry behind closed doors?

Cool. Yeah, the internet is full of hate of all types on all subjects. This particular place has grown tired of all the negativity.

There's no way this thread can exist at this point in a healthy way without turning into another TLJ hate thread (which, you stated it was yourself) and of which we already have several. If you really want to talk about it, you can check out those, Yahoo, or one of "many others."

There's nothing to report on RJ's trilogy right now. Maybe when there is, we can talk about it. For now though this doesn't seem like a very productive discussion.

Thread locked for the time being.
