The same for me. Of course, it would only be natural to some parts of the series set on Tatooine, but I would like to parts of the SW Universe we may not have seen too much of, all within the confines of an effective and immersive story, of course.

Happy for Kenobi to go off world, provided the story stacks up and everything is resolved in a manner which doesn’t contradict the OT.

I think it would be ok if Obi Wan leaves Tatooine for a short period of time, even more than once. I don't like Tatooine much because I find it arid and dangerous. I believe Obi Wan could have better adventures in other planets or in space. Of course, it depends the reasons why he leaves Tatooine. That is why I voted "Depends on...".

Depends on why he does it and how well it is executed, I've always found it slightly hard to believe that he'd spent twenty years in the desert without venturing off-world at least once.

So, when he tells Yoda: "I will take the boy and watch over him.", was he speaking the truth "from a certain point of view"? ;) Only joking. I'm not really one to speculate, but Obi Wan has been tracked down on Tatooine at least twice, first with Maul and second with Leia. If that kind of thing winds up as a regular occurence, Obi Wan's continued presence could be a danger to Luke.

What I'm wondering is whether Kenobi will form any alliances and friendships on Tatooine, with the show possibly introducing original characters whom Kenobi entrusts the protection of the Son of Skywalker with while he's gone. Perhaps he makes a deal with a Sand People tribe to keep the Lars Homestead safe for a year-and-a-day (or whatever), perhaps he hires a big-game hunter or bounty hunter or marshal to keep an eye on the kid.

I mean, Kenobi virutally "has" to go on a "damn fool idealistic crusade" to which Owen objects, right? (Not really, but it would add nice context for grumpy Owen). For all we know, we could even see Kenobi trying to recruit a young Luke (depending on the timeline) for such an (off-world?) adventure, only to get chased off the farm by Owen, or such an event could be referenced somehow.

In any case, I have no problem with Kenobi travelling off Tatooine to take care of some pressing matters (reportedly involving fighting Darth Vader), and it would be cool to see him put some contingency for Luke's protection into place in case he doesn't return (which would also add stakes... even though we, of course, know that Kenobi must eventually return to Tatooine).

In short: Trust the writers. They'll find a way and a reason for Kenobi to go on an adventure. Storytelling is a dynamic art :)

    Edit:
That's actually a very good point. Kenobi might be forced to flee Tatooine for a while to draw jedi-hunters away from Luke.

PS: I wonder if Kenobi (and Yoda?) suspects that Luke is special at this point? Is Kenobi guarding Luke "just" because he had history with Luke's parents, or does Kenobi already suspect Luke to be destined to fulfill the Chosen One prophesy in some fashion? I mean, how important is protecting Luke to Kenobi & Yoda? Is Luke "just" a potential future Jedi or do they believe he's something more important still? (Well, Yoda doesn't seem to have any such concerns towards Luke, and might instead have placed his bets on the "another"... Kenobi, however, is pretty insistant that Luke's worth their trouble. Hm... I'm ranting ;) )

But which jedi hunters should hunt Luke? In theory only a very few people know he is the son of Anakin and a potential jedi.

I mean that if jedi-hunters tracks Master Kenobi to Tatooine, he might have to go off-world to draw them away in case they spot/detect Luke during their search for Kenobi.

Of course he has to leave, if not the show would be very limitative.
Not only I do not mind, as I think for the good of writing/creative reasons he has to.

There is plenty of work to be done if Kenobi stayed on Tatooine. Getting in touch with Luke, learning to be a Force Ghost, getting rejected by Uncle Owen. He may even save the homestead from the sand people.

Also, here’s something I’m throwing out for you guys as a possibility: can Kenobi’s leaving “off planet” be an out-of-body experience while meditating? In other words, the man can be in his hut, cross-legged, but his mind can be wandering the galaxy. Perhaps that’s how he “meets” Anakin/Vader again. He can pop in and out of countless places. Maybe even see what his old pal Jar Jar is up to.
    What do you guys think?

That would certainly be my preference. To go it one further, I’d love it if OB’s mind was also bouncing around in time and we get to hang out with youngling Kenobi, kid Padawan Kenobi, and maybe get glimpses of end-of-life Kenobi.

Am I wrong in thinking that there's 19 years between ROTS and ANH? But the show takes place 9 years after ROTS? So, I guess Luke would be a toddler at this point? Still though, Obi-wan going off world would not be problematic.

Luke will be around 9-10-ish, about what Anakin was in The Phantom Menace, which is not a toddler.

From the start I've wondered if he'll travel to Dagobah to meet with Yoda. No idea why; I guess the story could steer it that way. Anyway, I imagine he'll travel off-world.

Kenobi running around Tatooine having adventures sounds like it would draw attention to the planet where "the last hope" is secretly being raised. It would make more sense to have him go elsewhere in this series. It would maybe undermine the prequels suggestion that he was off to Tatooine to wait until the time is right. But that's not a problem. The Clone Wars already broke the seal on "oh, by the way" stuff regarding the prequel era.

It really depends for me. I would rather he not leave, but if they can right a good story with a good reason I can accept it

Marvel Star Wars series (2015-2019) ran a Kenobi series called: From the Journals of old Ben Kenobi - While searching for answers in his quest to become a Jedi, Luke Skywalker has uncovered a journal written by Jedi Master Obi - Wan Kenobi. The journal details Kenobi's adventures during the time he was in hiding on Tatooine -- Including when Obi-Wan rescued a young Luke from Jabba the Hutt's thugs during the great drought. What follows is an excerpt from that journal...

I looked forward to those journal entries. Great tales of OB1's adventures on
TATOOINE. They were great adventures nothing boring in the least. As I collected the series those journal entries were the best part of the entire series. The conflict between Ben and Owen were dynamic and captivating. It expanded on everything Owen disliked about Kenobi. On one particular instance, Ben and Owen almost had a fist fight over how Luke should be raised.

Issue #6 Luke finds the Journal
Issue #7 Luke begins to read the journal old Ben
specifically left behind for him. Ben trys to sell
BLACK MELONS to a vendor on Tatooine ( as seen on the Disney+ series the Mandalorian
the Marshal season 2 episode 1, Cobb Vanth spits out the Tusken Raiders' beverage offered to him which is a black melon)
    Issue #15 The Great Drought
Issue #20 Infamous Wookie Bounty Hunter Black Krrsantan
Issue #28 Kenobi's adventures continue on Tatooine
Kenobi's journal entries continue on the entire 75 issue run

Furthermore, my 2 favorite episodes of the Mandalorian are set on
Tatooine, the Gunslinger and the Marshall... keep Kenobi on Tatooine please... I know its totally subjective. IMHO :D:p:cool::D

The series is approved by Lucasfilm creative director Michael Siglain, senior editor Frank Parisi, and Lucasfilm Story Group Rayne Roberts, Pablo Hildalgo, Leland Chee, and Matt Martin

Also watch Rebels season 3 episode 19 Twin Suns, another reason Kenobi should remain on
    Tatooine.

I'll wait until I've seen how it plays out before I worry about it being a potential problem. (gamorrean)

Nope. I have no problem with that at all. I'd like to see him visit Alderan. Perhaps have a chat with Leia or Bail concerning Luke and Leia.

Those are some of my favorite comics.

I think they also show Kenobi doesn't need to leave Tatooine to have a good story if writer only has imagination.

But, I am afraid expectations will once again poison Star Wars.

Personally, I would rather that he stayed on Tatooine, but I am not discarding anything before I see it. Maybe he leaves the planet and it's the best $hit since sliced bread. But, I believe Kenobi's purpose was to guard Luke and the show allows for his personal journey as a Jedi. We could have the whole Force course with Qui-Gon Jinn. We'll see...
