    Not even Yoda himself was received well (albeit he looked like terrible stoner Yoda) as a puppet in the 2nd try in the PT. They then CGI'd him. Perhaps a better Yoda puppet initially would've worked better in the PT and prevented him from attacking and leaping around instead of maybe being a wizard-like force user with knowledge and wisdom who didn't so much mess around with lightsaber combat in his confrontations.

    Onto it. Maz maybe could have captured a similar magic as Yoda if done with enough care and planning. It's not like she did anything Yoda wasn't capable of as a puppet. Would Maz the puppet have been better?

    A lot of people bash on Maz being a CGI. But Maz is really a well done CG Character by ILM. As well done a CGI character can be as of 2014.

    Umm maz served no purpose.

    I loooovvvveee Lupita but it's true.

    Have Han hunting force artifacts to understand what happened to his son, put the saber on his ship, boom no need for maz.

    Or just have Rey have a nightmare.

    This hack job film didn't even show us what happened to maz.

    Lazy writing, poor directing, sloppy as sh!t editing.

    It has nothing to do with the effects.

    Maz was wasted because JJ is a producer and brand ambassador, not a writer or director.

    The wasted maz is one of many let downs.

    Maz CGI looked pretty good to me but I think a good puppet would have been better.

    There's a big difference between Maz's CG and Snoke's. Maz looks fantastic.

    Maz cgi was really good. Something about her nose and the goggles glass that bothered me but overall she's superior cgi. A puppet enhanced with cgi might have been cooler.

    Snoke was fine too. Is that a big lightsaber gash in his head?

    Maz served an important purpose. She has Anakin's lightsaber which was an important element in the force vision. Han Solo is not Indiana Jones. Hmm why can't people understand that? So many stupid people.

    Maz was basically Yoda in disguise. Not literally, but in the spirit of the character. Small, alien, quirky, a little odd and sensitive to the Force. Thats what I got from the scenes she was in. ;)

    I thought the character was indeed interesting, however it seems like as soon as she was introduced, she was dropped so fast and not in a good way, it was really bad the way they did it was my impression. I think she is a fixture to replace or have a creature such as Yoda in the movie, is how i saw Maz.

    Actually I think Maz would have been better played by a real person and Linda Hunt would have been perfect for the part!

    The quality of Maz' CGI was actually quite poor. Not any more realistic than CGI Yoda from ATOC/ROTS.

    To make matters worse, the design of the character was terrible, and Lupita N'Yong's acting left a lot to be desired.

    Maz was pretty much a bust any way you slice it, and we know now why JJ dramatically reduced her screentime.

    Yeah, the Maz character and role in the film just fell off as if she wasn't apart of the film. I thought the CGI was done really well, i have no complaints about it. Other than her storyline kind of just drops off when i expected more and it didnt.

    I liked Maz more than I thought I would. All the reports/rumors about JJ not liking how Lupita did the mo-cap acting put me on guard for a let down. Was pleasantly surprised.

    I wasn't aware of that, where did that come up and what did he say? I wonder if Maz is going to be around in the next movie? Also, if JJ stated that i wonder if that is why they curbed the character, and why it felt so dropped off.
