Would you bring back Shia LaBeouf as Indy Jr/Mutt Williams, recast the character, or leave him out all together?

I personally would like to bring him back as I liked the character and Shia even though he is a bit of a nut off screen.

Eh, Shia isn't the worst but I honestly don't know if I'd care either way.

I say Yes and not because I liked his character, rather because Indiana Jones 5 starring Harrison Ford and written by David Koepp is going to need something to appeal to people under the age of 200.. and as much of a trainwreck Shia may be offscreen, he can still bring in a younger demo.

    He was ok..... IMHO

People would have liked him had he not went off on the BAG over the head way of looking at things. He played the Hollywood game once, he can conform and do it again if he wants to. Hollywood forgives......

I'd probably bring him in for a quick cameo, just to say "Here's Mutt. Remember him? He's not in the rest of the movie"

I'm torn... On one hand, I like the idea of Indy having a child to play off of and a possible heir to the franchise. On the other hand Shia LaBeouf didn't really do it for me in Indy 4... He wasn't really the source of what was wrong with that movie overall but he also didn't seem to be the right actor to take over the franchise. If it were up to me, I suppose I might have a throwaway line from Indy about Mutt being in University (they made a big deal out of his education in KotCS). Character exists, but he's off being busy.

If they wanted to give Indy another child I'd make it a daughter. The guy was a serious ladies man, it's very possible that he could have another kid out there from a random woman. They could even introduce her as a student in his class, whom later reveals herself to be his daughter. Just spitballing here! I just discovered today that there is a new Indy forum so I'm very excited haha!

Yeah pretty much. I was just at Disneyland yesterday actually talking with my fiancee and her friends about the new Indy flick and tossed the idea out there. I think it fits quite well and I would have no problem watching a treasure hunting, wise-cracking female Indiana Jones securing relics and protecting them from destruction during the Cold War.

So when we got home we decided to fire up Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. As we watched all I could think is how they could easily pair Indy with a young, firey Marion Ravenwood type. The character Marion Ravenwood is basically a female Indiana Jones already but I think audiences would have no trouble cheering on a Marion Ravenwood-type successor to Indy.

I actually got to thinking that if they wanted to bring the series back to the 20s and 30s after the 5th installment they could flash back to the adventures of Abner Ravenwood and his young daughter Marion. She mentions that her father dragged her all over the world chasing treasures and other old junk.

Anyway, just having some fun! I'm very excited a new Indy film is on the way!

Well I think that he's a good actor if he's given a good script and actors to work off of as well as good direction...unfortunately I4 wasn't well-received just like Mutt Williams but he's part of the story now and I think they should bring him back in a very minor role because they shouldn't leave something out as important Indy's own son .

With a good script and good direction, anything's possible. That and it'd be good to have him back for consistency's sake, but that's just the OCD in me speaking. :p

I said this earlier but it wouldn't make sense to have someone like Sallah be in it but not his ONLY son .

I think Shia is a good actor and he did well with what he was given to work with. The film as a whole wasn't well received and I think that painted him in a bad light as well as his antics in his personal life. I don't mind the character of Mutt but I think if they do bring him back they might recast him. Honestly I'm not sure how I would feel about him or the character returning, as guess it would depend on what type of story they are trying to tell.

Could we maybe have an intellectual drama/suspense/mystery instead of 70 year old Indy running around with a bullwhip? And do you think Harrison will "kill off Indy for the good of the saga" the way he did Han Solo?

And to the posted question, no, don't bring him back. And don't have the token kid or women or black guy or whatever. How about, just make a good movie. But I don't know about that just yet, I don't really see the NEED for Indy 5.

Chris Pratt doesn't look like Harrison much at all in my opinion and the 30s would be too close to the prequel Indy .

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the Indiana Pratt casting... though I am a huge fan of Chris Pratt, I think he is in the midst of creating his own Indiana Jones right now with the Star-Lord character.

I just think that it's going to be very hard to have someone else articulate Indy as a character though it would be cool to cast his own biological son similar to what happened with Paul a walker in "Furious 7" .
