Would you like to see prequel elements in ep VIII?

Not just elements. Bring Hayden Christensen back in SW, says I. I want to see what he can do with a competent director behind the camera. Also, with Kylo talking to Vader's helmet, Anakin himself appearing to him at some point is a given.

 

I honestly don't want any PT references in Episode 8 or 9. My SW canon is 4,5,6,7,8,9.

 

Yes, I want to see some prequel characters....some mention of the Clone Wars, etc...

 

I'm cool with Prequel elements popping up here and there. I definitely have my issues with the PT, but I still think there are plenty of things that could be incorporated into future movies, particularly visual elements(one area where the PT shined). Say what you will about the story, directing, acting etc., the PT brought a lot of cool planets, technology and aliens to the table. I would personally love to see appearances from the Nautolan(Kit Fisto) and Kel Dor(Plo Koon) species for instance. It would also be cool to see a pod racing reference at some point. I don't think its necessary to show another full race like we got in TPM, but seeing one in the background, possibly on a holoscreen even, would be quite cool.

 

I was kind of let down by how little info we had on Midichlorians in the PT, I would like to learn more about them in Episode 8.
Maybe that's the first thing Luke does to Rey, a midichlorian count.

Not sure why Disney should ignore the PT and shouldn't. What people don't get is regardless of the somewhat disappointing execution there is still a lush sw universe displayed in the prequels and a great story. It would be to the sequels disadvantage to ignore the history and many elements from the prequels.

 

What were those hoverboard things Anakin and Obi wan were riding on while fighting over the lava in RotS?

I figured if those things existed, everyone and their mom would keep one in their house or ship or something.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing more things like how Phasma's armor is created from Palpatine's old ship or the flags from Maz Kanata's castle.

 

You know, I used to think just like you did and yet there have been a few things that have come to mind that have made me see things otherwise when I look at Force Ghosts. Though I didn't like that they changed Anakin's FG in ROTJ, I have come to the thought that a FG might be able to alter the way it looks. Maybe they have the ability to project their appearance in a way that the person would remember them cause if not then how would they be able to know that the FG is in fact said person? Let's pretend that the FG was a human Jedi that had a Hutt as an apprentice when he was young and that Hutt finished his training, became a Jedi and went off on his way to the galaxy and never saw his master again. Then the Hutt's master took on a human apprentice in his old age and trained him as a Jedi as well. When the master finally dies, if he were to appear to the Hutt, he can't show up as his old self as the Hutt wouldn't recognize him as he never saw his master as an old man. The FG would have to be able to look young so that the Hutt could remember him and he would indeed have to appear old if he were to appear to his human apprentice as he never knew his master when he was young and wouldn't recognize him if he appeared that way.

I think it would be nice to see some of the battle droids repurposed for other type droids. Like what they are doing in the new disney cartoon "The Freemakers Adventure" surely they need to use some of the parts. There has to literally be millions out there somewhere in disuse. Maybe a trip to a planet for an investigation and they run across an old droid factory.

Some type of reference to the clones. Maybe someone collecting old empire/jedi artifacts like in one of the comics. Nice throw back to the previous weapons and armor hanging on a wall.

A Hutt would be nice as well. Surely they gotta still be out there doing their thing!

Maybe have a junk planet similar to TFU where the rebel alliance goes for scrap metal to repair ships and fix droids and stuff .

I am not a PT fan by any stretch. But I think I stand with many in saying that there was nothing wrong with "the story" of the PT. The hate comes from the screenplay, the directing, the acting, and the over reliance on CGI. Yes, I am aware that there were some full scale sets built (The throne room fight at the beginning of SITH), and small scale models were utilized. But the look of the CGI Clone Troopers, the over-choreographed fight scenes, and the over all feel and tone of the PT lacked the traditional Star Wars magic. Even the opening crawls lacked excitement and intrigue. Not to mention that poor George just couldn't get any decent chemistry between is lead characters to save his life, which was something JJ was able to nail in the latest installment, and Rian will build on for Ep.8

That being said, I love the story of the PT. And I am hoping that we do indeed get some mention of characters, events, or planets in the next 2 installments. Kylo's mention of a Clone Army to Hux was great, and I look forward to a couple more references to the days "before the Empire.... before the Dark Times".

 

I think there could and should definitely be some references to the PT era but we also have to consider the PT era was 50+ years ago. Things change and evolve over time. Even today we don't see a lot that was around 50+ years ago. TVs, cars, etc look vastly different for us today than they used too. Things in the Star Wars universe evolve too. However, there should be a lot of relics lying around. Clone trooper armor and stuff of the like could be used by the average person. I think there would be A LOT of spare battle droids lying around. It would be cool to see Mr. Bones somewhere in the background when Snap is around or maybe someone using droidekas as sentries or something like that.

 

I want to see a little more of the galactic politics like we got in the PT. It does not have to be as extensive as in the PT, but a little would be nice.
