X-Men Film Franchise

What should happen to the X-Men Cinematic Universe?

  1. Marvel should take back the rights and do the characters justice!

    63.2%
  2. Just reboot the whole thing with new producers at Fox. Mutants wouldn't fit into the MCU anyway.

    10.5%
  3. Get a new production team but don't reboot. A few of those films were great!

    10.5%
  4. Focus on single character films like Deadpool or Wolverine then do team-up films like the MCU does.

    5.3%
  5. Have Marvel help out but keep them separate from the MCU.

    5.3%
  6. MOAR DEADPOOL!! MOAR!! MOAR!!

Have to say that -- as a former reader of X-Men comics -- I absolutely loathed the way FOX handled the X-Men movies.

    * The fact that Wolverine became the sole focus of the whole story
    * The total abortion of the Dark Phoenix saga
    * The major plot-holes and continuity issues
    * Retconning all the other movies with the last one

    Just very disappointing.

Although I enjoyed the last few movies, I'm very much inclined to agree with you - especially considering how poorly it looks like Fox is handling the Fantastic Four franchise (GROUNDED AND EDGY! DOOM AS AN ANTI-SOCIAL HACKER! GENERIC-LOOKING NEGATIVE ZONE! OBVIOUS RIGHTS-GRAB!). I can only hope that Disney buys both franchises out from Fox (or works out a profit-sharing deal that Fox doesn't deserve) between Phase 3 and Phase 5 of the MCU.

Shoving out three X-Men movies in 2016 isn't going to do them any favors either. Quality over quantity, especially since you're just now getting back into the swing of making good superhero movies. Warner Bros. is at least pacing themselves with two a year, and Marvel is only now doing three a year - Hell, even Sony with its most-likely-canned Spider-Man cinematic universe was only going to do two for one year tops (with most years only having one movie related to the franchise hit theaters). Doing this is only going to hurt the brand.

I've loved all the new casting so far. Considering how well the franchise has rebounded since The Last Stand and Origins, I've got high hopes for Apocalypse. Same goes for Gambit and Deadpool. While the choices of Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds worried people, I feel confident that these will pay off. Tatum is Cajun and has the humorous nature of Gambit, and Reynolds has already shown (even in such limited screen time) that he knows the character. Not to mention, his commitment over the years is admirable. All in all, I'm very hopeful for the franchise.

I'm definitely looking forward to Apocalypse, but I'm a bit ambivalent on the other two. I'd probably feel better if they had delayed one of them to 2017 or something.

I was told I should check this thread out. I confess I did not know we had a X men thread going. About today's news I am so psyched that Nightcrawler is going to be in another movie! X Men United has been my favorite X Men film to date and Nightcrawler was my favorite part of that movie. The White House attack scene is in my top 5 favorite superhero movie moments. <<<(That would be a cool thread) The kid playing him was very good in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

X-men first class is how the franchise should have started.....

I am worried about this because the actors will be different of course and when they convert to low screen the actors don't do it as well as the big screen ones do. It happens to everything, though star wars will be different because it can be set between 4 and 7 or even years before episode 1, or what not.

LOL I tried to use quote guess it didn't work the way I thought.

Interesting. I wonder if that's close-to-final. I actually would kind of miss the ol' blue and pink guy I grew up with, even though I know it'd probably look god awful in film.

I know right? It looks like they are keeping the fluffy hair as Angel instead of no hair as Archangel.
