What should happen to the X-Men Cinematic Universe?

  1. Marvel should take back the rights and do the characters justice!

    63.2%
  2. Just reboot the whole thing with new producers at Fox. Mutants wouldn't fit into the MCU anyway.

    10.5%
  3. Get a new production team but don't reboot. A few of those films were great!

    10.5%
  4. Focus on single character films like Deadpool or Wolverine then do team-up films like the MCU does.

    5.3%
  5. Have Marvel help out but keep them separate from the MCU.

    5.3%
  6. MOAR DEADPOOL!! MOAR!! MOAR!!

That's not a part of the MCU, dude.

Also: the trailer was meh. I feel like Bryan Singer's out of ideas at this point.

Everything needs to just be under one house. Disney needs to just pay out and get control.

I think after the final Wolverine film, Disney should do a deal with Fox allowing them to continue making Deadpool films like how they have the deal with Sony for Spider-Man but all other X-Men/Fantastic Four properties should be under Disney. That way they can have a unified MCU.

Yeah It honestly shocks me how convoluted they let things become. I realize they want to just make money but man it is really starting to get out of hand. The word reboot is way too commonly used now a days.

RIGHT! The X-Men film timeline is still screwed up even after Days of Future Past's soft-reboot. Its been 20 or so in universe years since First Class and Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast look almost identical to how they looked back then and in 10 or so more years they're supposed to look like Picard and Gandalf in the first X-Men film.

It's a matter of Fox not wanting to sell. I don't think they will ever willingly sell the X-Men movie rights, given how well they're doing. A partnership seems more likely, but that's a ways down the road.

The Fantastic Four rights, however, won't stay at Fox much longer.

I used to be a die hard xmen fan ..since fox fecked up X3 so badly...I stopped caring.

Only good one I did like was first class.. still January Jones was typecast as Emma frost meaning I didn't feel any vibes from her as if she was good as a seductress. Natasha Henstridge on the other hand...would have been a better casting choice. Besides she would have blown the entire audience away because from what I've seen she's quite capable of seducing anyone.

I still love Famke Jansen as Jean grey and I miss her so much cause she was sooo good...not to mention Rebecca Romijn.

The only thing that took away from me loving xmen entirely was how wolverine being the key to everything when it shouldn't have been. Cyclops could have had more to do and I hated how he was treated as a character. A franchise shouldn't have to be focused on one character. Man fox really had it in for wolverine.. no offense to Hugh Jackman.

It all made sense at the time but got way out of hand. As a 90's X-Men Comics fan, Wolverine was everywhere. And the rest of the team had gotten pretty stale, and the stories were ridiculous. But through the late 90's and up through Origins, Wolverine carried the property on his back until Morrison and then Whedon got them back on track.

So, the XCU was built during a time when X-Men who weren't Wolverine were "boring", "bland", "stiff" and at a time were movies were growing out of the indie craze of the 90's and everything was moving away from Shumacher-ville and towards a more realistic style. Wolverine slid right into that model perfectly. Even if Halle Berry hadn't phoned in her performance and stuck with one accent, and was given a real story-line, I can't imagine early century audiences ever buying into a character like Storm.

But now a decade and a half later, we are more accepting of a wide variety of powered characters. First Class was supposed to fix that wolerine-centric problem that they'd been stuck with since the first film and Jackman's breakout success. And they did it well. But Singer had to go and muck it all up again with DoFP. They should have stayed in the 60s with the characters they had built, but instead that killed a few off, sidelined Havoc, brought back Wolvie, and tried to go for a best of both worlds. And while the movie was fine, it killed all that positive momentum they had going after First Class.

I'm not loving the new trailers for Apocolypse so far. But I love Isaac. Munn looks good for Psylocke. And embracing the core original X-Men is a good chance to start fresh again. But it looks really overstuffed. And coming off the less than friendly critical reception for BvS, the last thing you want to do is be negatively compared in the same vein. As the clear third in line of the big SuperHero on SuperHero battles this summer, they will want word of mouth in their favor or risk getting ASM2'd or F4'd out of a big hit, while other movies steamroll over them.
