A bit of a backstory regarding Yoda is fine, but it shouldn't explain everything about the guy. Part of what makes Yoda work so well as a character is the mysterious nature of his past. Plus, he lived for 900 years, so if a Yoda story were to be told I doubt that it would go into everything.

Very true. I'd like to see how he became a Jedi, and what the Jedi were like as group 800 years ago. As a kid I remember thinking that he was just a human, but he was so old that he got all short and decrepit, lol. I do like the mystery aspect, but there's some real story potential there that i would love to see brought to life.

I just want Yoda's species to actually have a name not just "Yoda's species." That's a little lame for a character as great as Yoda to not even have a name to his flipping species.

I believe that was one of the things that George Lucas had always told the writers of the old Expanded Universe to not mess with, along with not killing off Luke in Vector Prime and never destroying Artoo or Threepio. I imagine that they will respect George Lucas's requests, or at least for the time being.

I think a general, vague name referencing the species without actually naming the species (for example, the "Engineers" from Prometheus) could work, so that lorehounds actually have something to call the species instead of something as silly and redundant as "Yoda's Species".

I definitely do NOT want to see a Yoda movie or learn anything else about his back story. I want him to remain a mystery. In fact one of the few things I did not like from the PT was Yaddle.

If Yoda had not been in the PT or at least had not used a lightsaber in it, then I'd be in the keep it a mystery camp. At this point though, I think the genie is out of the bottle, and we might as well see some youthful Yoda adventures, like, jedi apprentice or very recent jedi knight age, when he's out making a name for himself.

I just posted another topic along the same lines...
I read early drafts of TESB had Yoda's first name as Minch. Yes, Minch! :)
Also, I think Lucas has a reason why the Yoda background is a mystery. Maybe his race or religion helped create the Jedi Order? Or they are the true source of the Mediclorians & can help guide those beings(like Luke or Anakin) to shape or direct their powers?
I agree that if Yoda & other members of his race/home planet can live to be 900-1000 years old, then there may be a reason for it.
4/5 years ago, Lucasfilm approved a graphic novel that was a origin story of how the Jedi Order was formed 1000s of years before the events of the prequels or the OT.
I think these "aliens" came from another part of the galaxy or maybe another galaxy to defeat the growing power of the evil Sith.
It is SW Canon that the Sith had dominated the entire galaxy at one point for nearly a 1000 years.
I think Mace Windu brings it up or maybe Palpatine. The Jedi Order helped drive them out but not fully destroy the Sith.

I think the line is: "The tyranny of the Sith will never return." I don't think Mace ever mentions how long said tyranny was, or how complete.

You need to watch the Clone Wars, Season 6: episode 11-13. It gives more background on the Force and you'll see that Yoda didn't create the Force or Jedi Order.

I want a Yoda spinoff. No, not one hundreds of years before The Phantom Menace, but one that takes place between Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back!

Think about it, we could have a thirty minute run time watching Yoda living life of Dagobah. We can see what he eats, what hobbies he has, what little adventures he does for fun, how he meditates, and whatever else our favorite little green Jedi does!

And then right at climax of the movie, Yoda can be visited by the ghost of Obi-Wan telling him that Luke Skywalker is coming to be trained.

Folks, this movie has everything: Humor, adventure, food, humor, and... um... well, I don't know what else. Morals. This can be a movie about morals. Or something. It can be about something.

I'm envisioning a black-and-white, art-house type movie. There will only be three lines of dialogue throughout the whole thing, and they'll be in french, 'cause french is classy/artsy. About half an hour of Yoda smoking a cigarette, staring into the distance.

So buried down at the bottom of this piece on the second anthology movie is a brief mention of a potential rumor on the third. This was speculated a while back, but had more recently been lost in favor of rumors of a Kenobi trilogy and an Old Republic Movie. So, this article is saying a more spiritual and metaphysical movie about Yoda's origins is being considered as the "final" anthology film.

    http://schmoesknow.com/hot-rumor-lo...re-in-the-2nd-star-wars-anthology-film/38214/
So, how does everyone feel about that? What does it mean for the other rumors which still persist.

I personally would love to see a movie more in line with the middle chapter of ESB with some of the last episodes of TCW thrown in for good measure. Sounds like a fascinating departure from what we wills see in the other two movies.

As to the other rumors? TOR always seemed like wishful thinking to me. But, perhaps the Kenobi film being a trilogy isn't so far fetched after all. Perhaps Kenobi isn't an Anthology at all and instead a planned trilogy to provide a rest between Episode IX and a subsequent ST. Perhaps with Stand Alones involving new characters from the ST interspersed to keep us up to date on what is going on between IX and X?

Could we see something like this?
    SW Ep VII
    SWA: Rougue One
    SW Ep VIII
    SWA: "Tin Can"
    SW Ep IX
    SWA: Yoda

    SW Obi Wan I
    SW Stand Alone 1
    SW Obi Wan II
    SW Stand Alone II
    SW Obi Wan III
    SW Stand Alone III

    SW Ep X-XII
