and what if.... what if KOR appear to be the next form of government of the GFFA, after defeating both Kylo and Rey ? Succeeding to a Republic, an Empire and a New Republic, the Galaxy could get a kind of martial government, a military junta... kind of what happens sometimes here down on Earth in many countries, when the army takes the control after an insurrection, a putsch, a coup d'État...
in this hypothesis, IX should have its ending on that defeat, and the take over by the KOR, opening such a way for a brand new trilogy.

Not harsh at all but I needed a bit of Star Wars chatter. I browse carefully and just wanted to avoid someone posting to say they definitely are or are not. ;)

I've been a member a couple of weeks and haven't been exposed to spoilers. I browse cautiously.

Also (and granted I'm not here long or visiting many threads) but this forum also seems to be populated entirely by decent folk only interested in talking Star Wars with none of the ill manners, trolling or meanness that exists online in other websites. I abandoned other StarWars forums years ago because people were more interested in shredding films and each other. Glad to find a place like this forum.

That is what I do for every movie. Not just Star Wars. I gave into weakness to see the teasers for and behind the scenes for VII, Rogue One and VIII.

I'm abstaining from all footage for IX.

New owners for my local cinema and they only show trailers in the lobby with no audio with only commercials before the film s themselves.

Crazy that a cinema played a trailer for a movie before the actual movie:confused:.

I feel like Abrams has a lot of story and character arcs to develop and wrap up and I worry that the Knights of Ren won't get the story they deserve or need - especially if this is the end of the First Order.

If Lucasfilm is developing a Rey animated series that will expand on the Knights then I'm fine with them being in the film as cool looking but underdeveloped villains.

Such a TV series has my heart divided though - I love the sequel characters and want more I want the First Order ended and new villains introduced. Keep stormtroopers and such for the Rebellion/Empire stories.
    --- Double Post Merged, Feb 15, 2019 ---
I agree. Referring to them by name and a brief glimpse is dark dream sequence isn't enough to put them on people's minds. I forget about them myself and know more casual viewers who have no recollection.
    --- Double Post Merged, Feb 15, 2019 ---
I want to see them too but wonder if a "bunch of Kylo Ren's" suddenly dropping into the series might have the "general audience" asking where they came from and where they have been until now. Doing "expanded universe stuff" is okay for a fan but the film reaches more poople than that.

It would be like Maul or Ashoka showing up in RotS.

Why not? GFFA is probably better off with the kind of order they would bring than with Galactic President Poe going off half-cocked. :D

I think Abrams and Kasdan made a mistake in recreating Vader and the Empire rather than creating something new but if the Sequel Trilogy ends with no united galactic government I think there are great story and universe expanding possibilities there.

I had avoided rumours for months before TFA. I sat down to a midnight screening on opening day three rows behind a loud mouth attempting to recite all the rumours and speculation. Fortunately the majority of the audience shared my feelings and suggested he button his lip. :)
    --- Double Post Merged, Feb 15, 2019 ---
Also, I think Abrams needs to explain why Finn wasn't conditioned like his fellow stormtrooper and how he went so long without anyone noticing he was more independent minded.

Abrams seemed satisfied in TFA that simply deserting made Finn a unique stormtrooper, but it isn't - many Imperials defected to the Rebellion, but the Empire did not brainwash its soldier.. Finn's uniqueness is that he overcame or evaded mind control since he was a child.

There is a movie or book in that story alone.

I think it would be cool to have an area of the Galaxy under the control of the Hutts. Not a situation with complete anarchy and lawlessness but rather a situation where the criminals enforce their own brand of law and order. Any official government entity is really just a powerless, corrupt lackey. Think Las Vegas circa 1959. We certainly may infer such a situation was in effect over the past 50 galactic years in some corners of the GFFA

That is a very interesting idea.

It hasn't been mentioned much on screen but in the days of the Old republic there was a "Hutt Space". Tatooine was outside the control of the Republic in TPM and Kenobi was sent to Jabba to negotiate for permission for the Clone army to travel through Hutt territory. Even the Empire couldn't control the whole GFFA.

A Wild West/Las Vegas are of the galaxy has a lot of story potential too. It would be the kind of plan Luke, Rey and other Jedi would go to a lot - plenty of good people in need of Jedi justice in those places.

McGuffin - The Source of the Darkside. The good guys want to get to it to eliminate it. The bad guys want to get to it to harness its power. This may or may not have been the same thing Palpatine at one time was searching for before his demise.

McGuffin Game Changer - Both sides learn that the Source of the Darkside is actually Supreme Leader Snoke (which we will find out is truly not his real name). He's been behind everything from the start, and even the Sith were unwitting participants in his deeds.

Following the tragic death of his mother, along with persuasion from his Uncle Luke and Grandfather Anakin in Force Ghost form, as well as from the mysterious "Rey," Ben Solo is redeemed and the good guys will try to eliminate this personified Darkside threat from Beyond, but it must come with a major sacrifice...

I once had the idea (for the next trilogy) about the heroes trying to destroy the force itself. This would be quite similar to your idea. I like that!

    Snoke is dead.

Either Ben or Rey (or both) I guess?

Sound too much like "The Final Curtain". I hope we get a better title than that.

I was thinking either they have to die, OR perhaps the Force Ghost Jedi have to cease to exist.

In my fan fiction above, the good guys learn that the Force Ghost skill Qui Gon learned in the Netherworld and later passed on to Yoda and company had an unintended consequence.

As for Snoke, there's plenty of evidence out there that could allow him to easily be written back in if they so choose. In a world where Force Ghosts exists and people can Force Project images of themselves across the galaxy, I'd say anything is possible in regards to Snoke.

I just don't want it to be our hero from a desert planet has to confront (Redeem or defeat) the fallen skywalker to prove themselves as Jedi, while the plucky band or rebels/resistance have to against the odds defeat the Empire/first order and at the end the last remaining Jedi is left to rebuild the Jedi order while the hero's of the rebellion set about rebuilding the republic, becuase not only have we seen all that before it would make the whole trilogy seem pointless.

What i'd like to see them do is move away from the story of the original trilogy and don't give us another 2 and a half hours of will Kylo turn good or not, if your gonna turn him find away to do it at the end of the first act, then you could have some really intresting scenes with him having to work with the remainder of the resistance, if not have him commit to the dark side and go down the Kylo unchained route and have him feel like real threat to the galaxy. I'd also like to see Kylo haunted by Snoke or Luke or ideally both, you could create some real drama in that.

If they are going to redeem Kylo i would use the death of Leia to redeem him, maybe have a rival in the Knights or Ren or another apprentice of Snoke murder her and this sends Kylo back to the light

I'd like them to give Rey's parentage some consequence, i have no problem with her been no-one, but having a two film build up about who she is just to have no consequence seems like an absolute waste of screen time and I find it really jarring. So either have Rey struggling with the fact she was abandoned by her parents, and use it as a way to have her temped by the dark(or even turn wouldn't that be interesting?), you could also use it to make her a far more layered character. Or if you did want to give her a lineage have her be a relation to Palaptine, having a Hero who was a relation to the last trilogies villain and a villain who is the son of two of the last trilogies hero's could be interesting.

I'd like to see lightsaber battles again, personally i would like it if Rey had been using the "scared texts" to train a new load of Jedi and have them face against Knights of Ren. This could be made even more interesting if Rey is struggling with her own deamons or heritage.

Finn trying to organise a storm trooper rebellion would be really fun, and give him a real purpose. I also like the idea of doing something like Finn an Rose had got together and had a child, but they are then murdered in the first act by Kylo (if he is not going to be redeemed) or the Knights of Ren(if Kylo is to be redeemed) it would give his journey some weight.

Finally I'd give the First order a purpose, other then been bad guys who want domination, you could use tie in the Darkside Palpatine sensed in the unknown regions and Snokes backstory into this, making the franchise feel a bit more joined up.

Ow and i like to see Hux killed pretty quickly maybe in the first scene.... or have him killed in the crawl......

I like your post in general. Regarding this quoted part, I have mixed feelings. If on one hand I'd like the First Order to have more substance and purpose, as you say, in the other I think you don't really need that, as the seek for power and domination was mostly what it was all about in our past Human history. In other words, power and domination, or just a different "point of view" or feelings of superiority seems, unfortunately, to be more than enough here on Earth.

That said, I could see Snoke being part of what Palpatine sensed in the unknown regions. I can see Snoke + the remnants of the old empire teaming together in an unholy alliance of sorts. Snoke's agenda, apparently, was to get rid of the Jedi, and/or "hope in the galaxy". Why? Well, power, domination, feelings of superiority, grudge from some old or even ancient feud? The First Order, well, who knows, but you could also go with power, domination, feelings of superiority, grudge from the old empire days, perhaps?

I agree that it feels a bit like deja vu from the PT and ST, replacing Palpatine with Snoke and the Empire, well, by the Empire just revived. Perhaps something different will happen this time that will break the cycle of New Republics and Empires? I'd like that for a change.

I would introduce a big twist: The Sith are not the evil guys. They are guarding the galaxy from something very powerful and evil lurking beyond the Outer Rim.
The Sith banished this entity thousands of years ago and wanted to prepare the galaxy for the possible return of this being. They thought that by having a harsh rule they could accomplish this. But some of their order didn't agree with them and the order split - the Jedi were born. (Another twist. The Jedi would in truth be a "branch" of the Sith).
When Palpatine killed his master Darth Plagueis, he didn't care about this entity, which no one had heard from in thousands of years. Palpatine just wanted to rule the galaxy.
But when this being stirred, the Force itself created "Skywalker" as an antithesis. Another being capable of defeating this threat in order to bring balance. When Anaking was killed, this task fell on Luke. But he also died. So now we only have Ben left. The last of the Skywalkers. Snoke knew what was lurking beyond the Outer Rim. And he tried to establish a new Empire in order to have the power to fight this being - together with Ben. He sent the Knights of Ren into the Outer Rim to inform him when the attack starts. Now he is dead and the Knights return, telling Ben that this being has awakened and is about to destroy the galaxy. Ben must overcome his desire to rule the galaxy in order to save it. With him and this entity destroyed we finally have balance.

There is a long, bloody, and costly battle between the rebellion and FO. All the Jedi and KOR are killed except for Rey and Kylo. They both realize that the only way stop all the carnage is to both die and put an end to the Sith and Jedi. So they both stab each other with light sabers at the same time. Both are dead and peace and balance finally exists in the galaxy for good.

    The end.

Yeah, that's one of my main hopes for episode 9. Obviously, my main hope is they make a good film but after that, I hope they end it in a way that(while being good) gives this trilogy its own Identity and doesn't just feel like a retelling of the story of the original trilogy, with a few elements re-mixed, that ends in the same place Jedi ended in 1983.
I also see your point about generally with humans conquering is just about conquering. Though normally it is down to Resources, Ideology or Money! I think you could definitely create an Ideology, for the First Order that sets them apart from the Empire, that grew out of their time in the Unkown region. You could also give them some sort of goal that goes along with that.

Yes, resources (money, power) and different ways of thinking, seem to be at the root of all conflict here on Earth. In time, perhaps a new technological revolution will free us. As for the different ways of thinking, that's trickier in my view. I'm not sure if it's getting better or worse as time goes by.

As for a different ideology for the FO from the former Galactic Empire, well, they also seem to be a military dictatorship, but we don't know if they have a strong ideology, or even a different one, or are just fanaticals or admirers of the old empire. Perhaps they just seeked revenge from the Rebels/New Republic.

After the events of TFA (were they destroyed the New Republic), it seems their sole purpose afterwards was to eradicate the last stand of the Resistance (TLJ). As for Snoke, he seemed more concerned in eradicating the Jedi first, which was necessary to then eliminate "hope in the galaxy", to probably rule, but we were not told the exact reasons. Like Palpatine, we must assume it was for dominance and power.

So, it is yet to be known why did Snoke and the FO joined forces in the first place. They seem quite independent entities that just temporarily joined forces. With Snoke dead, Hux says there's no ruler. But right before he could claim the authority, Kylo made it clear he was now in charge. Until when remains to be seen.

So, as for the goals of the First Order, your guess is as good as mine. I assume their primary objective was to eradicate the opposition first, and then perhaps form the basis of a new Galactic Empire following a more autocratic and centralized way of rule, in contrast to Leia's more decentralized way.

So, yeah, we seem to be going in circles from a more autocratic and centralized way of rulling to a more democratic and decentralized way. It's not clear what exactly the FO thinks, but I'd say they are more autocratic and centralized, and therefore not much different from the old Galactic Empire. So, again, I wish we could get something new this time around, but I'm not keeping my hopes high.

I don't know about the plot, but I want to see:

-Kylo and Finn having an actual conversation, like sane, rational people (yeah right lol).
-Leia finding faith in her son again.
-Forests! Bring back the beautiful forests of TFA, TLJ had more than enough water but not enough plants.
    -Vader's castle
-giant robots similar to those in War of the Worlds. They're mighty creepy, and I've been wating to see something like that in this trilogy ever since I saw TFA. If Rey and Kylo would be chased around by something like that, that would be PERFECT. Let's see their force abilities in THAT situation lol
-giant flying creatures that people can ride. I'd like to see Rey on something like that.
    -Forests!
-A party. I mean a real party, not just a gathering. Everyone having fun...Right before disaster strikes!
-Rey having a mental breakdown and scaring the hell out of people (she's been calm for far too long).
    -Did I mention forests?

What if they Mcguffin is Vaders Helmet itself?

I wonder if there is some holocron recording device laying dormant in his helmet.

What if half way through the movie Rey and Kylo have another confrontation ( Vaders Castle ) and reach a stalemate and during the process one of them has a light-bulb moment and they inspect Vader's helmet which then projects a bunch of footage from Vader's point of view of certain things he whiteness over the years as Vader. One of the important ones could be a scene where a young Snoke , Vader & Palps encounter something in the unknown regions. This could then lead the heroes and first order to said place.

Could be a great way to bridge the previous 6 movies with a cameo from paps, Vader with some simple back story on snoke.

From there Luke appears as a ghost maybe giving some incite in to what they have just witnessed with Luke maybe dropping some a bomb shell himself ( what i got no clue). Angry, Rey and Kylo agree to join forces and go to the unknown regions to investigate. Meanwhile the Knights of Ren get wind of said alliance and assume Kylo has gone to the light-side and follow suit.

This could lead to a final confrontation in the unknown regions with all parties IE, FO , Resistance , Kylo , Rey, Knights of Ren ect.

I would have the end of the movie end with everyone bar Rey thinking Kylo died in some explosion but he escapes with the Falcon and crash lands on a planet in the unknown regions.

Kylo is too good of a character to not explore further. He doesn't have to be a 100% redeemed but the ending could give us a hint that that is the path he will eventually head down. This could allow more movies exploring the the squeal characters.

I still think there is a possibility Rey is a Skywalker. Considering Luke cut himself off from the force and didn't reconnect until she left, he might never of known until becoming one with the force. You can believe the words of a practitioner of the dark side and the cave scene basically told her to focus on the present IMO.

I would love to see Vader's castle again, something connecting Snoke and the Emperor to give us some background. I realise the OT didn't rely upon it, but it was filled in with the PT and to me the links between the Saga 1-6 and 7-8 and somewhat lacking. This could be done with holograms, not a fan of flashbacks to be honest. Don't really want another super weapon, unless its something crazy powered by force users to increase Kylo's own powers....the FO vs Resistance is all a little bland, making it all have some deeper meaning might work better.

This being the end of the Skywalker saga, it would make sense for the story to tie back into the prequels.

So going all the way back to The Phantom Menace, we are introduced to Shmi Skywalker who miraculously gives birth to Anakin. According to the
prophecy, Anakin was supposed to bring balance to the Force. However, we are never actually told what that means. It is implied that it means destroying the Sith. And this is what Anakin does in ROTJ. Luke stated that this brought balance to the Force for a time.

Jumping to TFA, Kylo tells his grandfather that he will finish what he started. I believe he is talking about fulfilling the prophecy of the one who will
bring balance. Perhaps in Kylo's mind, Anakin only half-fulfilled the prophecy. Anakin destroyed the Sith but he did not destroy the Jedi. Maybe Kylo believes that the bringing balance means disposing of both the Sith and the Jedi. This is why he is hunting Luke Skywalker and also killed
Snoke. He even tells Rey what he wants. He tells her "it is time to let old things die." He declares his intention put an end to both Jedi and Sith.

Thus in Episode 9, he will be bringing the Knights of Ren back to his side. Why were the KOR not in episodes 7 and 8? They were absent because
Snoke and Kylo were practicing the rule of two. There was no room for the the KOR. Kylo has now abolished the rule of two along with the Sith.
Kylo's main goal will now be to use the Knights of Ren to rid the galaxy of the Jedi once and for all. So episode 9 will not only be about the final
battle between the Rebellion and the First Order. It will include battle between the KOR and the new order of Jedi led by Rey.

And maybe Kylo will see the error of his ways, be redeemed, fight along side the Jedi, and help save the day. That would give Leia a happy ending.

I would say that what you say is plausible and makes a lot of sense. Kylo seems obsessed in destroying the Jedi. He even says that "let old things die", but also that he will kill Luke and then Rey. This obsession, of Snoke and Kylo, was never clear to me after watching TFA and TLJ, so perhaps IX will bring some light on this. Otherwise it's again a faction wanting to get rid of the Jedi, just to fail again? We know Palpatine, as a Sith and longing for dominance, wanted to get rid of the Jedi with a passion, and he almost did. Why do Kylo and Snoke want to get rid of the Jedi, again, is less clear to me. Hope there's more to it than "because they are the good guys" and an obstacle to our desire to rule with no opposition.

What's interesting is that Kylo wants the past dead, all of it, and he wanted Rey on his side. To control her? To manipulate her? Because he cares for her? We don't know. Kylo Ren's motives are not clear to me. This is a departure from the more archetype style of characters we had in the PT and OT, in my view. He hates/hated Luke, but did not seem to hate his parents as much, especially not Leia. There seems to be more to Kylo's - Luke hatred than we were told, or at least that's a possibility I would wish see realized, possibly with some twist.
