Star Wars Episode 9 : Balance of the Force

    Situation:

There is no more First Order. Kylo has declared himself Emperor. To the worlds ruled and occupied by the Empire, he is seen as benevolent and tolerant. He secretly lives a double life as the Master of the refurbished Knight of Ren order. The Resistance is pushed back to a remote planet of the galaxy. They are sending numerous Diplomatic Missions to free worlds, trying to get them to join their cause. The EMPIRE (Hux & Co) no longer see the Resistance as a credible threat.

There will be 3 driving storylines at the beginning of the movie.

    - Kylo and the KOR kidnapping/killing people with Force abilities VS Rey and her team trying to get to them before the KOR. One storyline will be around the rescue of one kid.

    - Finn & Poe trying to reconstruct the fleet and weaponry.

    - Leia and her people preparing for a daring and dangerous mission to a free world to rally them to their cause. This might change the game forever with the New Empire. While Kylo and the KOR are clashing with Rey’s squad, The Empire ambush and destroy the emissary convoy, killing Leia Organa and her crew.

Kylo is still obsessed with Rey. They are still communicating and playing a chess game. Kylo will slip after his mother’s death. It is then that he is basically about to turn against the whole galaxy with his “secret” army. Rey will ultimately play a role in bringing him back to the light.

    More to come…

Vader visited Kylo through WBW. He went forward in time. May return to epix timeline with Pademe. Anakin would have known a lot after Mortis.

No time travel in Star Wars! Btw, Anakin's wife is called Padmé and not Pademe. :p

I’m coming round to the idea that Kylo unwittingly killed Rey’s parents when he destroyed the temple. Presumably they must have had some Jedi skills if Rey has them, so I’m guessing they died that night. That’s why Rey is drawn to Kylo, because he has that connection to her parents. I don’t think either of them actually know about the connection though — kylo hasn’t got a clue that two of the dead Jedi were her parents. Only luke knows that. Maybe that’s why luke is helping her, because he feels partly responsible for her becoming an orphan

I think Rey killed her parents herself. Maybe the "flashback/vision" scene from TFA will be extended in IX and we see how young Rey is blowing up the escaping ship by the help of her raw powers. Now that would be a fitting twist. This would also be a parallel to Kylo's/Ben's betrayal.

Even though your theory is cool and so, it's easily debunked by the timeline. Rey was abandoned on Jakku way before Ben destroyed Luke's academy.

with the current information we have - that is correct.

you never know what we may learn next though - something could come along and debunk the debunked lol. in 1978 it was canon that Darth Vader betrayed and murdered Luke's father... we can't trust those pesky folk that make our canon. they lie to us !!! :O

that's interesting actually. i would love to see some form of twist showing her powers early on

If I would be Unkar Plutt and witnessed little Rey doing such a thing, I would have given her enough food to keep her away from my shop as long as possible every time she pops up with some random piece of junk.

It would make Kylo Ren much more sinister if he actually knew he killed Rey's parents and continued the lie that they were nobody's. What if Kylo Ren gave Rey to Unkar Plutt? Why does Kylo Ren ask the First Order Officer: WHAT GIRL?

Kylo tells Hux Rey killed Snoke. He continues to lie about Rey every chance he gets.

    Well, considering the 3 trilogies:
    - episodes 1-3 : from light to darkness
    - episodes 4-6 : from darkness to light
    so, logically:
    - episodes 7-9 : from extremes to balance

That leads to the only possible title for ep9:
    - ep7: the force awakens
    - ep8: the last Jedi
    - ep9: the last Sith

Basically, 3 storylines are crossing :
    - Kylo desperately wants to go darker and darker.
Whatever the price to pay. I mean : he already killed his dad, in IX he will kill his mom. But this will absolutely devastate him, even if he fights to deny it.
Reason is: Luke said him he would get the Knowledge following the Jedi lessons. But, the same way Anakin had been perverted by Palpatine, Snoke misleaded Kylo, revealing him how much the Dark Side is greater : "boy, look how powerful was your grandfather".
But there is one BIG problem for Snoke : Anakin was less or more likely doomed to fall ; Kylo is clearly surrounded by Light. He is a true son of Love, opposed to Anakin who wasn't as he had any father - reason why Anakin was less or more doomed to fall. It has been difficult for Snoke to actually turn Kylo. In the end, Snoke didn't really rely on Kylo (clearly stated in 8), but the fact is Kylo is the most powerful force user from all...
    - Rey desperately tries to slow down Kylo's impulses.
Althought she retrieved the Jedi Books from Acht-To, she couldn't complete her Jedi Training alone. Plus, the final test, who would have allowed to definitely "knight" her, was purely missing.
Consequently to this uncomplete training, Kylo's actions take her darker... and darker... and darker... Like Holdo, all the movie long, the audience is not sure if she will finally fall, or resist : sometimes she seems lost, sometimes she rebels and regains confidence in her fight.
    - the Knights of Ren are the ultimate key...
We finally learn who they are : former pupils from Luke's Jedi School, the same "schoolclass" than Ben. They were also perverted by Snoke who didn't really rely on Kylo (due to too much light around him).
For Snoke, the KOR were intended, in the end, to support Kylo in case he stumbles in his journey to the darkness.
    The movie ends this way:
Near the end of the movie, Kylos is to commit his ultimate dark deed : kill his mother, as Leia came back to him, with Force projections (aka, the nightly-rainy scenes from Rey's vision in ep 7, expanded a little) showing Kylo the evil he had done to the Jedi Temple and to Luke.
The quarrel bursts between Ben and Leia, it grows and swells. Audience is heartbreaked, because something in the air is really going wrong between son and mom. And... Ben kills Leia, in a pure demence move, like Anakin did to Mace in the Senate office with Palpatine lying on the ground.
Rey shows herself. She sees Leia dying. She is blowed. She shouts at Kylo. Quarrel starting. Rey is quickly clearly going - no: running - right into hatred and violence, his eyes are flicking. She only wants to destroy Kylo. Right now. No redemption, no forgiveness. Not a Jedi way : a Sith way. ..
The whole KOR show themselves. They came to help Kylo as they were always intended to do. They immediately attack Rey, they are to overwhelm her... they almost kill her... But I said : Kylo was devastated by his former deeds... so he comes in and attacks the KOR (Rey's vision showing that KOR killed by that red blade). Kylo attacks one guy, he is occupied, his attention is diverted, that means: another KOR definitely kills Rey. Kylo realizes, and freezes. And the last KOR kills him.
    No more Rey.
    No more Kylo.
    Last shot:
Broom boy is 3 years older than he was in TFA. He has escaped Canto Bight, actually, because the shot shows him in Coruscant, facing and looking to the old Senate building, in ruins, with a rising sun in the back, as the SW music raises, and roll the final credits.
    Leaving the theater...
The audience suddenly realizes one never really knows who was / has been "the last Sith"... Kylo or Rey ?

Yes, Kylo destroys Luke's academy years later, but in a universe where space wizards can have visions of the future, if Rey's parents (or even only one of them are, or are told by one Jedi or Force Sensitive) get an inkling that their daughter is in danger or dying, is destined to greater things, maybe a childhood on Jakku, as undesirable and horrible as that sounds, is still better than death. If not for her, or for them, then for the galaxy.

It's an interesting idea, it would appease a lot of the questions around Rey. Maybe her parents were drunks, losers and force users to boot. We've already seen one depressed Jedi in Luke, maybe it's possible for Jedi like anyone else, to be despicable losers. It could even add reason for Kylo to dislike them even more, as he sees them squandering their gifts. It could also add to the backstory as to why Luke was so tempted to kill Kylo, as part of Luke's vision could be him seeing Kylo torturing Rey's parents to find her whereabouts. Maybe that Luke/Kylo fight served a purpose, speeding Kylo's plans so that he was forced to kill Rey's parents instead of capturing and interrogating them.

There's definitely room there for a surprise such as this. Done well, it could "fix" some perceived issues from portions of the fan base.

i consider myself lucky that if we learn nothing else about Rey or Ben's past.. i'm ok with that and will still enjoy whatever i get next (lol i'm so easy :D), but.. i would love a massive twist about Rey's past, or something ridiculously horrendous that occurred to Luke shortly before the Ben/Luke incident we saw in the TLJ flashback that makes everyone say "omg - no wonder he was so broken!". it would make things... easier (possibly).

I would despise the word "fix" applied to seeing something like this. it's a 3-part story and we should be grown up enough to accept that even if the above or something similar happens.. consider that the story was always intended to be told this way.
As mad as this sounds.. i'd actually prefer episode 9 to not appease the currently unhappy fans if appeasing them meant that we would forever hear that "JJ fixed the trilogy" when the story could well be exactly how LF intended.
Even if JJ puts some scenes into the the movie that are specifically for the purpose of putting a smile back on the faces of the unhappy fans.. we need to move forward as though it was intended from the start.

it's bonkers that i almost cried with joy when i heard the news that a new trilogy was going into production and that the OT cast were all coming back for it. I love episodes 7 and 8 and yet i find myself just wanting the damn trilogy to be over already.

it was the best of times.. it was the worst of times :D

I really hope that they explain this shot/scene and it isn't just a "JJ mystery box." Except in this case it actually will be a mystery box.

Force visions tend to turn out to be true, so there's hope.

I think the reality is that TLJ will always be divisive. If IX addresses issues from TLJ, it will be seen as a fix from JJ. If it is ignored and they move forward, the ST will continue to be disliked by all fans who dislike TLJ now. He'll likely lose some fans who want Reylo or don't ect... I think IX is going to struggle to not be divisive because JJ is painted into a corner (I'd say even more than RJ was to begin TLJ).

However that doesn't have to be a deal breaker. I mean, the OT has multiple fixes in it. Even if some fans believe it wasn't planned out and that it needed to be fixed, it shouldn't detract from the fandom and love of the product overall. Done right, it could give new appreciation to TLJ, even if some fans believe RJ made mistakes and JJ repaired those mistakes. I only see positives in "fixing" things. I think it would gain more than lose.

Now, if JJ does put scenes in "specifically to put smiles back on the faces of unhappy fans", that doesn't mean we won't have debate over whether it was planned or not ect... but I think the debate will be much more civil if we're all discussing from a point where we like the final product. I think you might even have some appreciation from fans for RJ making those "mistakes". That without those "mistakes" we wouldn't get as satisfying a conclusion. We can hope at least.

I like this. I like the darkness in it. The fact that both Kylo and Rey are dead. I think I'd have broom boy staring at the old Jedi temple on Coruscant... but yeah, it's good. Although I might have Kylo survive. I know they are not going to stop the saga films, no matter what they say. come 2027 they will want to do something. 50th Anniversary and all. Why not do X,XI and XII?

God I really hope JJ can bring this home and give us a satisfying conclusion.

I’ve heard a lot of speculations that involve Rey going off to help Kylo. Sorry if that happens I’m walking out. We got that in TLJ and it bit her in the ass. If she runs off all doe eyed and idealistic again. #1 she’s an idiot and #2 a Kylo’s turning his back on her and a chance for redemption in TLJ was wasted screen time.

Full disclosure I did not like TLJ. But that moment when Kylo rejected Rey and a path to the light and appeared to be headed down a truly dark path from which there is no return was one of my favorite parts.

Hell, if all it takes is Rey just trying again to redeeem Kylo, it would also cheapen Luke’s death.

I hope and pray that doesn’t happen.

I think that is something that has already happened, unless Kylo Ren starts to wear his silly helmet again. So it would need another flashback.

I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about in that regard.

it's pretty obvious that Rey will have more run-ins with Kylo.. but whilst she may not have completely given up on Ben - she closed the door on Ben that you're talking about (literally and metaphorically).

If Ben turns away from the dark, Rey may be one of the reasons - but i doubt she'll pro-actively be trying to turn him like she did in TLJ.

I don't see the end of ROTJ like many fans do, and i don't believe that anyone has ever been able to turn away from the dark side of the force before.
I think that Anakin semi-managed it on his death bed (and even then i suspect that he still has darkness in him as part of the force), but i have always believed that Darth Vader did what all sith have done for all time.. took an opportunity when it arose to kill his master and a form of redemption happened after that. i know.. contentious eh? lol

I honestly believe that when Ben learns the real truth about his grandfather in episode 9.. he will do the impossible and turn away from the dark side of the force. I have an amazing scene in my head that would have me in tears if it happens.

The fact that i could be completely wrong, and that Ben could become the most heinously vicious dark sided villain the galaxy has ever seen.. i find deliciously intriguing.

I absolutely love this character !

The problem with this theory is that the timeline does not work. When Ben destroys the temple Rey would have been approximately 11 or 12. She was already on Jakku for awhile by this time.
