Your post TLJ ranking of Star Wars movies

That's an aspect of TLJ that gets a bit overlooked - it's extensive focus on the Resistance. It's actually the first SW film that made me care for the organization which the good guys are part of. In the rest of them they kind of felt like a provider of X-wings and not much more.

This is gonna sound like a cop out but you can't botch it when it comes to the force. Her knowing what Padme looked like just adds another example of the more passive force abilities.

I'm not saying there weren't some things bad in RotS, I acknowledged that there are real and fair criticisms with the movie but even the worse things in RotS can't make it a worse movie than TLJ was.

but it's always changing!

 

It keeps changing for me, too. Here's how it is this very moment with a super-brief explanation, keeping in mind I don't rank by the quality of work but rather by how I enjoy it:

TFA (the only film featuring the heroes of old and the amazing new cast - all in fun ride from start to finish that set up the sequel trilogy)
ANH (started it all and the only SW movie that is complete without any need for sequel or prequel)
ESB (Yoda, the reveal, Boba, Han's capture... very powerful movie)
ROTS (I don't know why, but Anakin leading his troops towards the Jedi temple is one of my favourite scenes in SW - perfectly captures his fall to the dark)
ROTJ (Luke infiltrating Jabba's palace was great, but I didn't enjoy the climax as much as other movies)
TLJ (some amazing scenes in a movie that disappointed me for its overuse of gags and multiple other reasons)
TPM (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul saved this film for me and make it enjoyable to watch)
R1 (really well done movie with a fantastic final act - I just didn't care about any of the characters)
AOTC (its good moments get drowned by clones with droids in poor CGI battles)

 

1. IV - There's always something to be said about the original.
2. VIII - I like that it challenges your preconceptions of everything.
3. V - While its a great film, I just can't put it higher than the SW or TLJ.
4. VII - Call it a remake of SW all you like, but I love the characters in this film.
5. VI - While the stuff between Luke, Vader and Palps is top notch, everything else a little less so.
6. RO - Its a well-made film, yes, but for me, its fan service was a little over the top and drags it down.
7. I - If you can ignore Jar Jar, Anakin and the terrible dialogue (which is all tough), I don't think this is nearly as bad of a film as people make it out to be.
8. III - It feels as though this is a "check the box" film and that hurts the film in my eyes.
9. II - Yeah, no.

 

Add that to the great soundtrack and best visuals effects of the prequels.

 

Episode I is not that bad really. Jar Jar is there to make the Jedi look serious.

Serious isn't how I'd explain the Jedi here...

 

Will it be 'stoic', 'boring', 'wise' or 'responsible' then? What say you? The suspense is killing our audience!

GL: "There's going to be a big fish, then a bigger fish comes and eats it. Then you come in with that line."

Liam: "So have we seen it or do we know the species? Am I scared at this point? Surprised? Is this supposed to be fun quip or inside joke between Ewan and I or....... "

GL: "Ok? Got it? Roll camera, action!"

Liam: "But..wait...."

GL: "Less intense. Less personality"

Liam: "Wait sooo"

GL: "Action!"

 

"It's like you can't even be bothered by it Liam."

"So like when we first come to the incredible underwater city and the incredible cities?"

"Exactly!"

"May I ask why?"

"So Jar Jar looks even MORE rambunctious!"

This fits very much into this twitter poll.

If hardcore fans were split 50/50 on The Last Jedi it wouldn't be doing so well in these polls. Now these polls don't control for demographics, but they're more difficult to rig because you have to have an account to vote. That discourages people from voting over and over.

I'm curious how this will look in five-ten years when people get tired of complaining about TLJ and look at it objectively in comparison to the rest of the films.
