10 minute list with no deep thinking going into it.

    1. The Last Jedi (2017)
    2. Alien (1979)
    3. The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
    4. Blade Runner (1982)
    5. Metropolis (1927)
    6. The Terminator (1984)
    7. Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
    8. Knives Out (2019)
    9. Cleopatra (1963)
    10. Red Dragon (2002)*

*I know this isn't generally considered Top 10 list-worthy, and it is not even considered the best of the franchise, but for whatever reason I do love it so.

Mine has changed over the years, but this is my most recent attempt at a Top 10(ish - I have to have stuff like Star Wars and TLOTR and Indiana Jones films as one entry or the whole top 10 would be Star Wars). And honestly no.2 could be seen as a representative for all of Miyazaki’s films.

    1. Star Wars saga/series (Eps I-IX + Solo + Rogue One)
    2. My Neighbour Totoro
    3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
    4. The Lord of the Rings
    5. Indiana Jones series
    6. Big Trouble In Little China
    7. Die Hard
    8. Mad Max: Fury Road
    9. The Neverending Story
    10. Alita: Battle Angel

I try to categorize my movies by tiers, and separate them into mostly animated, superhero, non-superhero, Star Wars, and Objectively the Best I've Ever Seen. So going off of that, I'll to my ranked/Tier 1 movies for each.

    Non-Superhero:
    1. Twelve Angry Men (1957)
    2. Inception
    3. Creed
    4. The Great Gatsby (2013)
    5. Pacific Rim
    6. Crazy Rich Asians
    7. Step Up 2: The Streets (at least the final dance is up here.)
    8. Knives Out (?)
    9. Rurouni Kenshin: Origins(?) (I feel like it deserves recognition for being of the only good live action adaptations of an anime/manga, but I'm not sure it's good enough for me to say "this is in my top ten favorite movies of all time. That being said, I do like to recommend it to people...)
    10. ???

    Superhero Tier 1:
    1. Spider-Man 2
    2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
    3. Man of Steel
    Unranked:
    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
    Avengers
    Avengers: Infinity War
    Avengers: Endgame
    X-2
    X-Men: Days of Future Past
    Spider-Man: Homecoming
    Captain America: Civil War
    The Dark Knight
    The Dark Knight Rises
    Wonder Woman
    Black Panther
    Iron Man
    Thor: Ragnarok
    The Incredibles
(I'm positive there are more, but these are all of the ones I can remember right now. If it's not here, that doesn't mean I don't like it or that it's bad. It just means that it isn't in MY Tier 1. It might be in the MCU's Tier 1 list but not mine.)

    Animated:
    1. Wreck-It Ralph
    2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
    3. The Incredibles
    4. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
    5. The Lion King (and I enjoyed the sequel very much as a kid!)
    6. The Emperor's New Groove
    7. Toy Story 2
    8. Moana
    9. Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal (?) It's been about a decade since I've seen the movie, and I already knew the story going in, but the animation was some of the best I'd seen up to that point, and it's hauntingly tragic story was perfectly adapted for fans of the anime.

    Star Wars Tier 1:
    Return of the Jedi
    Revenge of the Sith
    The Force Awakens
    Solo
    Empire Strikes Back

(movies like ANH, TPM, and TLJ are almost there, but just not quite.)

Objectively The Best Movies I've Ever Seen:
    1. Twelve Angry Men
    2. Casablanca
    3. Seven Seals
    4. Bridge on the River Kwai
    5. Rashomon
    6. The Ghibli films I've seen (Spirited Away, Nausicaa in the Valley of the Wind)
    7. A Fistful of Dollars
    8. Seven Samurai (This is so low only because I don't feel like I properly appreciated it at the time. I need to rewatch it someday.)
    9. The Raid: Redemption & House of Flying Daggers (This has some very questionable - if not outright triggering - content, but the overall story and action are beautiful.)
    10. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (This also should be ranked higher, but it's hard to fully justify that because I haven't seen the movie since I was a kid...I don't think I've seen it in the past 17 years...not fully anyways.)

    Unranked:
Die Hard & Hero - Both of those had a profound impact on me, but I can't remember either very well, and it's been at least a decade since I've seen both, so...
Blade Runner 2047 - I didn't even LIKE the original Bladerunner, and this movie nearly made a fan out of me. It was one of the most beautiful movies I saw the year it came out, and it had a poignant story. It was great.

    Musicals:
    1. Wicked - She reigns supreme!
    2. Hamilton - I'm almost mad how much I like it now.
    3. The Lion King - I know, this rounds out the trifecta of "Basic Broadway Bests," but there's a reason people like them so much.
    4. Ragtime - I've seen multiple versions of it, and it makes me mad each time I watch it. That's a good thing.
    5. Newsies - I have fond memories of watching this on Disney with my sister, so it makes the top 5.
    6. Les Misérables - I've seen an almost annoying amount of versions of this in high school: I saw a different high school perform it, then I saw the movie version, and then I saw the musical version in London, and THEN our own high school performed it (which was my favorite of the four). AND THEN the movie came out! Or did the movie come out before our high school version? I don't remember. I just remember skipping the movie version because I was so burnt out.
    7. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark - My grandparents live in New York, and I was visiting one year. My grandfather decided to take me downtown, and after walking around a bit I noticed that there was a Spider-Man musical. I was a little sad that we couldn't go in, and then my grandfather suggests that we do, and pulls out two tickets for the next show. We had a great time, and bought shirts and the CD, and I still think fondly about that memory. Was the musical good? Not really. But the time spent and what the gift meant more than made up for the quality.

    I will do the same:

    1. Star Wars Saga
    2. Back to the Future Trilogy
    3. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
    4. Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy
    5. Indiana Jones Trilogy
    6. The Matrix Trilogy
    7. Harry Potter movies
    8. Hangover 1+2
    9. The Dark Knight Trilogy
    10. Jurassic Park

For my personal Top 10 of all time I have to think a bit longer. I'll come back to this thread as soon as I'm finished with that list.

Eventually, I can be sure that I didn't just dream that this movie exists.

I firmly resist to make a top 10. But 10 great movies in loose order:
Blues brothers, The usual suspects, Toy Story, Shrek, Sneakers, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Pappa ante portas (Loriot), The Italian Job, Goldeneye
just the ones that I didn't find in some list already.
