It's wild to see that in 2015 this was actually an idea that could generate some amount of discussion.

The prequels have really fared well since then.

That said... I don't want a reboot of anything in Star Wars. I actually kinda like that we have these various different eras, of potentially varying quality, and that each generation lays stake to their own. That's such a cool thing, in my opinion. Tell new stories, don't try to fix something that doesn't need fixing.

I don't know about a straight 'reboot' or 'remake'. I don't see any upside to that. Something like an 'animated reimagining' would be interesting though. Go back to its cliffhanger roots and make it a legit serial. Change the medium and the structure to make it its own thing apart from the movies. I'd be down for that.

    Nay, I cry! NAY!!!!

Seriously, what is there to gain by doing this (aside from financial, but even then there's no guarantee it would make money)? Aside from me not being a fan of reboots in general, Disney would be making a controversial move by straight-up remaking a Lucas-created trilogy. They're better served assuaging the fanbase, not inflaming it. And those films seem to, in general, be aging better as time goes on with the fans.
