SPECULATION Possible hint of the TFA Plot in Rebels - Empire Day

The EU is huge, and filled with both great and terrible ideas. At the very least you can expect coincidences, regardless of whether they were EU inspired or not.

 

If you are referring to my comment, I didn't say it was when it was animated, I merely said that was a date which falls during the time this show was being developed, which means it could be significant to anyone working on the show at that point in any number of ways.
If what you are suggesting is true, then they still retrospectively referenced a date that had already happened, yes? So that still applies to what I was getting at too, as much as anything else.

The "clue", if there is one, relies on someone doing some very specific things, given there are numerous options here...

While I really wanna dismiss this as nothing more than coincidence, it is definitely a very striking coincidence. So many similarities to what have already heard concerning Episode VII. Obviously, the ideas for Daisy's character were around long before a year ago - perhaps this is just a friendly nod to to a very similar character.

 

This could also be the date of birth of one kids of the crew working on Rebels.

 

My initial speculation when I started reading your post was, "I speculate this guy is grasping at straws"

The more I read, however, the more compelling it got... that was a whole lot of effort you put in to dig that up, and I gotta admit, it kinda makes a little sense...by the end, you got even me curious...

 

It could mean something.... or not... the similarities are pretty striking, and they did say the whole of the EU was open for mining...

 

you forgot that both also seem to have a black imperial defector that joins the Solo girl on the quest.

 

While the EU is rich, I would hope we are getting a little more than recycled stories... that would make VIII and IX a bit predictable once we get going

 

Very interesting post. Good work on the research. We won't know until the movie is out if there is a link or not. However, I have no doubt that the date was put in to have some significance. Disney is known for putting things subtlety into there animated films that stand for something. The big question is whether this is some link to TFA or some inside meaning among the writers/creators of Rebels

Oh they had a grand plan already... walkthrough Falcon, cantina live lunch and show... wonder what happened...

 

Hmm.... Makes you wonder, doesn't it. But buying the franchise would certainly be a way of maximizing appeal for when the park attractions do finally happen. Maybe the strategy was to wait until after EpVII?

EDIT: Particularly as the cited attractions -- speeder bike ride, walk-through Falcon and cantina experience -- can all now be THEMED to EpVII. Nothing there we've not been led to believe won't be in the new movie....

 

I have to say that this date must be a connection -- that comic book is exactly the same as the rumors. It could be a nod to what will be confirmed in the teaser, or... If this concept art is fake and all of the insiders are coming up with rumors made up by JJ Abrams and company, then bravo. Hats off to the mystery box. If we get a fresh movie that has none of the speculation we've been talking about? That'd be awesome. At least until the trailers come out...

 

what if everything we "know" is all lies put out by LucasFilm, JJ, and Disney. they have to know that fans are thirsting for information, but don't want to share anything because they want it to be surprise when the film releases. they knew there would be sites like these digging for rumors and leaks so they drew up some concept art that vaugely resembles this comic story and dropped it on some random website to throw everyone off the trail.

 

This is my immediate reaction. What if in fact there have been no leaks whatsoever and everything we've seen and heard is deliberate misinformation. Sure, there's a bit of truth thrown into the mix; but there has been so much information "leaked"- it's impossible to know truth from fiction...
