No they are of Jaina Solo alongside Jacen, she is a pretty Solo im sure Rey's beauty will be as equal.

 

Yep I know the anticipation of finding out which family she is part of is exciting.

 

I posted these pictures in another thread. I believe the original poster @ShuraShpilkin may be on to something. In the Droids cartoon from 1985 there was a character named Gir Kybo Ren-Cha. In the Cartoon, Kybo was a leader of space pirates that had Imperial ships painted with their symbol. See below. This very much could be the basis for our Villian Kylo Ren.

1. Maybe Kylo isn't part of the actual Empire, but one of the pirate clans.
2. Maybe the Pirate clan for Kybo Ren took control of the Imperial Forces sometime after The Battle of Endor.
3. Maybe Kylo is a descendant of Kybo Ren.
4. We've heard in the past that Kylo was a Sith wannabe. Maybe his obsession with the Sith and Vader was because of his lust to control the Empire like Vader did. This would explain the hunting for Jedi/Sith artifacts.
5. Maybe it was his clan that attacked Luke's academy. Maybe Rey was there and witnessed it.

I've got to admit, this is a very interesting find.

EDIT: Apparently @Redleader7 also had this idea a while back. I don't think we had the concept art to back it up back then. Now it's seeming more plausible. Personally I like the idea of a faction of pirates that used to exist in this universe resurrected many years later to take advantage of the weakened Empire.

This actually sounds pretty believable! But the only problem I have with this is that I doubt that Disney/Lucasfilm will make "Star Wars: Droids" canon. And without that, this whole "Kylo is Kybo's descendant" thing doesn't make a lot of sense. But it might serve just as a reference though. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that this similarity in names is NOT a coincidence.

 

So I forced myself to watch some of the Kybo Ren episodes of Droids. While it was cringeworthy, it's vague enough that Ardnt or Kasdan could have easily lifted the roots from these Pirates. It doesnt necessarily make Droids completely canon. They did say that there was a treasure trove of ideas out there they would explore. Nothing was off the table.

 

What struck me most wasn't as much that name as the concept art of the Ties and the look of Driver being so similar to Kybo Ren. I wonder what the writers on the old Droid cartoons are thinking.

I really hope one day they reveal the inspiration for all the characters. Maybe in the "making of" for the Blu-ray.

I'm taking a pure big leap here but I was thinking that Kylo doesn't just want to be the next Vader, but the next Emperor.

Maybe killing Luke is his initiation. But maybe it is a lie just to get him to do the job by whomever is the guy getting Kylo to do the dirty work. But Kylo kinda does a Palpatine and kills his master.

Not saying he will kill Luke. But attempt to. I see Luke injuring Kylo badly.

 

I'm pretty confident the writer of 2 pervious SW films and JJ Abrams didn't need to look back at a cartoon to come up with their villain for the ST. Kylo is going to be a completely new character. You might be able to draw parallels to some storylines in the EU (because there were so many) but for the most part he is going to be something we have never seen before. I do think he has some deep roots with the Skywalker family in some way though. That doesn't mean he is related but there seems to be a connection in some way.

 

Maybe he has a connection with another jedi family that was close to the Skywalkers in the past.

 

That's possible too. If we had clarification on what "The sword" is exactly that would help a lot. If it is the Anakin/Luke saber and he wants it because of who owned it then something is going on there with the Skywalker family. I don't think chasing a lightsaber owned by Anakin and digging up the Vader mask is just something he would be randomly doing.

 

Maybe the sword sabre as I like to call it maybe be made up of multiple parts of previous lightsabers destroyed in a family history going back thousands of years, I originally thought the sword, was the name given to Jaina as the sword of the jedi when she was tasked to kill Jacen.

I think if they were going to base a character off of previous material they wouldn't name him so close to something they were basing it off of. I also think if Kylo Ren was supposed to be Kybo Ren they would have just hired the dude that played Donkey Lips on Salute Your Shorts.
