Who is killing anything? We have "old SW" it cannot be taken from us. Like Tolkien's books, I read and reread them over and over again.

Luke closed himself off from the Force and became untraceable. Luke can’t be the only Force-user able to do this so I suspect other Jedi have learnt to do the same thing and are out there somewhere.

I also suspect Ezra will appear in the next instalment. He’s beyond the Outer Rim, possibly with Ashoka too who went to find him. My gut feel is that Leia, Poe, Rey etc will head off that way to find allies thus creating an avenue for Ezra and Ashoka to complete Rey’s training. Ashoka left us not a Jedi so she could really assist Rey in learning how to bring balance.

    Everyone and everything eventually dies.
Han Solo was going to die eventually.
Luke Skywalker was going to die eventually.
Their hand is now forced with Carrie's passing. Leia will die soon as well.

And there are still other stories to be told about those old characters in the form of cartoons, books, games and comics.
Their stories aren't done. We just gave them a chance to be finished by the people who brought them to life.

Well, if you watched the end of Rebels, you know Ashoka survived at least until ROTJ, at which point she and Sabine go looking for Ezra. So it is certainly possible she is still out there. Same for Ezra.

And, as someone noted, since Jedi can cut themselves off from the force, it is possible there are others out there.

Ashoka isn't a Jedi. Ezra is around the same age as Luke if he was still around. It's unlikely they'd introduction him now. Better yet, I doubt JJ even knows anything about Ezra.

If the rumors are correct and Episode IX is a year after TLJ I don't expect we'll see any other Jedi. Rey is the one who will bring them back.

At the end of TLJ we see, briefly, the Jedi texts on board the Falcon. To me, this implies that Rey will continue her training (could it be argued she hasn't really started yet?) in whatever gap exists between TLJ and Ep 9. Whilst she is naturally gifted, she is no Jedi yet and she can't get all she needs from a few old books so logic suggests she will have at least one teacher in the next film. This could well be Luke as a force ghost, but how much can a force ghost instruct an apprentice? My money is on Rey encountering another, and if I was a betting man, my money would be on Ezra. Obi Wan was introduced to the world as an old man in ANH, there have been plenty of parallels thus far between the OT and ST, the Rebels ending was clearly and deliberately scripted the way it was for a reason, Ezra was heading for the Uncharted Regions with Thrawn, which is likely where any Resistance allies are lurking - all the pieces fit for me.

    But I've been wrong before....!

Given what we know about JJ he doesn't really work with the story group so the idea that Ezra shows up seems like the longest of long shots. Rey isn't a Jedi, but she has the books and I got the sense from Yoda that Luke would still be instructing Rey.

Although I wouldn't mind there being an eventual appearance of Ezra or Ashoka in a SW movie, there's been absolutely no lead up to it thus far, so I see it as a long shot. I can see at most them dropping a name in IX, finding an artifact that mentions them or something along those lines to mine in the next saga. But the ST will end without them taking an active role of any kind, at least that's my sense.

I'm certain there are many force users thriving in the galaxy, and some may have been Jedi, or Jedi trained, who somehow escaped order 66. I mean, there must have been some who had some talent in the force but didn't measure up to the standards either in temperament or control of the force who went on living lives with a bit of an edge. Some may have even been employed in some fashion by the Jedi Order in some capacity. Beyond that I believe the force doesn't wait for Jedi teachings to be available to introduce itself in individuals. So there may very well be different orders out there, or most likely, many wise men and women who have learned how to manipulate the force in unique ways.

I very much hope they do explore those aspects after the ST concludes. Right now though, they don't quite fit into the narrative.

Technically not impossible, but I would wager it's highly unlikely to be woven into EPIX.

I’d be willing to wager a lot of credits that we will not be seeing Ezra or Ahsoka in Episode IX. It is just not going to happen. As stated above JJ is not deep into the canon. While there is a chance we will see other force users, It won’t be Ezra or Ahsoka

I think it's entirely possible that Ezra Bridger is out there somewhere. And Ahsoka, while not a Jedi, went to find him along with Hera and son. Where did he go? Well, there have been so many mentions across publishing about the Unknown Regions: Palpatine's interest in that sector, Snoke's emergence from there, the First Order forming there in some measure of secrecy. I think that a plot device like that which has been sewn into so much of the new media may eventually have a payoff. And if the Purgill took Ezra and Thrawn there? It's a potentially fascinating plot point.

Another thing related to Ezra Bridger came to me recently and it relates to The Last Jedi. Specifically regarding the Force Link between Kylo Ren and Rey. During the one link where Kylo Ren is standing by a hangar viewport and Rey is taking shelter from a rain storm beneath the Falcon, there's that one very interesting detail: rain drops. Kylo Ren has rain drops on his gloved hand. We know following Snoke's bit of exposition in the throne room that he established the Force link between Kylo Ren and Rey. But he never said how. Is it possible that he connecting Rey with Kylo Ren by using the portals of the World Between Worlds which was seen in the episode of the same name?

The mirror in time Rey experienced in the cave also foreshadowed time travel. She could see herself before and after snapping her fingers.
