I have to admit I'm pleasantly intrigued by Morgan and Barriss being the focal point, given the shows name. My immediate though was that we'd get something on more on The Grand Inquisitor or Thrawn, but it sounds like the Empire will be a feature of these tales rather than the focus.

What planet do we think it is at the centre of the poster, Ilum?

...and, who are all the characters on the poster, especially the pair under Bariss's chin?

As far as the planet, I don't think it's too specific. Most of the trailer shows Coruscant, Dathomir and Corvus but who knows...
Those characters under Bariss are Marrok and the Sixth(?) Brother, the Inquisitor that hunts Ahsoka in Tales of the Jedi.

I loved it! As with TotJ, TofE was just two 3-act stories running about 45 minutes each, exploring "side"-characters to the larget SW narrative. They aren't groundbreaking, although we do get nice character moments for Elsbeth & Offee, seeing things from their point of view.

I like the formate, these loose "episodes" divorced from a larger whole, almost like random comic book stories, or whatever, and I hope they do a ton more of them. I'm up for a Tales of the Rebellion, next! And Tales of the First Order/New Republic/Resistance should be very welcome, too, not to mention any scum & villany "tales" we'll hopefully get at some point. Good stuff!

It's every bit as good as Tales of the Jedi I think. The cinematography and the score and the animation are absolutely next level. I also agree the format is great, and I like how it can serve those characters that may not have enough story to deem an entire series, or just need some gaps filled.

They were excellent. The animation was the best. Watching Lyn do a stutter step because the ground was uneven as she was walking downwards was amazeballs, and some of the angles from the fight scenes were just wow.

I did like Tales Of The Jedi a lot more. Somehow, the Morgan Elsbeth story didn't land with me much, because it wasn't anything new and it starts to feel more like a fantasy than space opera. My biggest gripe was with her being the constructor/architect of TIE defenders, which makes a bit sense as she will probably design and construct the Eye Of Sion later, but as far Ahsoka went, I have just seen character driven by hate and lack of judgement, that won't achieve anything substantial before her death. Yeah well, all these years of cool space-ship designs, with one of them being able of interstellar travels beyond imagination, so she can save an evil officer and be ditched by him with all her talents that she somehow got as an outcast space with - which would be probably more interesting to see in my opinion.

But Barris' story was great altogether.

I also love the progress LFL animation made. Even tho I had major gripes with Elsbeth's story that I deem kinda pointless, it was beautiful to look at.
It will make it harder and harder to go back to shows like Rebels, as the production quality progressed a lot over the years.

My final verdict is, I did enjoy it a lot in general, but it was short and cherry on top kind of a thing and it leaves me hungry for more.
Also, throw the mystery box out of the window and give me more rounded stories like Barris got in the end and no cliiffhangers, so the actors might die or find different projects in the meantime.

    Tales Of The Empire 7/10
