Best clip yet of Alden as Han

    I marked this as a spoiler since the clip contains a tiny shred of plot point that hasn't been totally explicit from the marketing.

    This is a brand new clip from Solo shared by Woody on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live. The clip shows the moment, or thereabouts, where Han falls in with Beckett and Val. This clip really seals Alden as Han for me. He comes off as a young Han would. It is convincing to me. It's not a Harrison Ford impression. It's Han filtered through Alden, but reads very much as Han Solo to me. Afterwards, there is smalltalk between Woody and Kimmel wherein Woody gives Alden his seal of approval. He didn't need to praise Alden specifically. That he went out of his way to do so speaks well to Alden's performance in my mind. Enjoy:

    Great clip. Although, the best one is still where Han shows Chewie his cards.
    Also, since Woody goes to specifically praise Alden means, that "they" are aware of peoples' "doubts" about Alden and this is "them" trying to ease that. Which is good.

    I agree. Woody would not say anything negative but he didn’t have to go out of his way to praise Alden. He was not asked or even prompted to say anything about Alden. I think it is an honest opinion

    I definitely get what you're saying. I just like to err on the side of not cynical I suppose. Haha.

    If he thought that, I'd surmise he wouldn't say anything, and rather simply fulfill his studio obligations, show up, say "see this movie," roll the clip, and leave.

    In the last day, I've seen people on this site:

    1.) complain about there being too many "London accents" (There are at least 4 major accents found throughout London, so........);
    2.) complain about Woody's accent being "too country for Star Wars";
    3.) complain about Alden sounding "not enough like Han" (I assume they meant Harrison);
    4.) complain about L3-37 sounding "too much like Phasma";
    5.) complain about Paul Bettany not sounding "threatening enough";
    6.) complain about Rio sounding too much like Jon Favreau's regular speaking voice.

    There are several other ridiculous criticisms, but I am tired of typing. These are purported "fans" of Star Wars. Do we all see the problem here? This level of scrutiny and criticism is gonna suffocate the franchise to death. I cannot STAND all of the negativity. It's just beyond bonkers at this point.

    That's not what I said at all. I'm not "triggered". I just think it is silly to have so many complaints for a film that hasn't even been released yet.
