SPOILER Gwendoline Christie's character

Bringing it back up because of the MSW stuff. If he is truly going to put the plot together we are no doubt going to hear about who is using lightsabers and who is not.

 

I think a reason the plot may seem a little odd is because his sources are only providing the plotline for our heroes, our poor Imperials (and perhaps others) are getting brushed aside

 

Agreed. I've been bringing that up in the thread a lot. I appreciate any insight or thoughts on TFA but I think the easier characters for us to fit into the plot are the heroes. What's really going to put a nice crack in the plot for us is what is going on with the universe? What has become of the empire? The rebellion? Who is leading what? I'd rather hear stuff like that. GC is someone I really want to know more about as well as Kylo Ren.

 

The Wampa saber would be more of a sentimental design for Luke in my opinion. Hoth is so remote and so harsh that not even the Rebels who were based there knew about the Wampa(s) until Luke was almost killed by one. So why would GC be running around the universe with a Wampa inspired lightsaber?

Was that scence the first time Luke used a lightsaber in a real fight?

Maybe the Wampa saber is the McGuffin saber. Easily idenified with Luke by those who knew about the incident on Hoth

 

Her character must escape me because I really never wonder who she is playing. Not because I don't care, I think I honestly forget she's in this movie because we've heard so little about her.

 

You know how we saw that Greenham Common picture that was allegedly of GC? Well, one may ask, if she's playing the chrome shock trooper, then why was Christie wearing Rebel clothes?
Many have speculated that she is a double agent—and I too believe so. This is my speculation: Christie is seen in the beginning of the film (she is the one who arrests Finn) but she is wearing full armor. Thus, we cannot know who is underneath. (Provided she doesn't actually talk.) Then later on, when our heroes arrive at Yavin IV, they are greeted by a smiling, patriotic rebel official named (insert name that is NOT Captain Phasma here). We are led to believe Christie is on the good side, but of course she is not.
This is where my last piece of evidence comes in. I believe that the piece of concept art of Stormtroopers burning something is not of a village, but the Rebel Base itself. How did they get there? The troopers wouldn't have had any knowledge of the location of the Rebels or their base unless...
...unless someone within the Alliance told them. That's where I think GC comes in. And I believe that's how we can reconcile Christie's chrome trooper with the picture of her wearing Rebel Alliance clothes.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that, if the scene in the trailer of the stormtroopers involves burning SOMETHING, then I still believe it is the Rebel Base: in the trading card, it says, "Stormtroopers prepare for battle". This obviously implies a conflict between two sides—you don't prepare for battle if it means you're going to incinerate some defenseless villagers.

EDIT: So it appears that the stormtroopers were indeed burning a village, as seen in the teaser. Oh well.

 

Maybe they are saving her character to last, Im not worried yet about knowing who's side she is on & who her character is.

 

I like this! Only evidence of any villages being burned is from concept art--which is unreliable. Makes a lot more sense if the stormtroopers are 'preparing for battle' against the Rebels...personally, I'd find a evenly-matched battle more exciting than a bunch of troopers just blowing the crap out of a village.

 

This just occurred to me. All the stuff about the Mandalorian Protectors from Marvel comics #68 to the EU books has been stricken.

The only content we have on Mandalore now is from the Clone Wars cartoon, the Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir comic, and Sabine's connection from Rebels (I agree with @Ceruleanlord and bet the female Mandolorian Rook Kast is/was her mother). Mandalore was subsequently occupied by the Galactic Empire, which established a campus there for training military cadets. Sabine Wren attended that Imperial Academy before turning against the Empire and joining the rebels.


My thought is this: If Captain Phasma is Gwendoline Christie and the character is around her same age that would place her birth right around the time of Star Wars, Battle OF Yavin IV.
I also think she may be a graduate of that Mandalorian Academy.

 

From the cape design, I really do think she's Mandalorian. Might be cool if she was Boba Fett's daughter. ;-)

I think the shot where she's walking towards the camera is on the ice/snow planet, inside the base, since there seems to be a cave to the left of her.

 

She's Captain Phasma and was seen in the second trailer.


Question is where is she? There is rock there with imperial design. Unerground somewhere perhaps the Base we saw in the trailer?

Is this the Hoth rebel base just rebuilt into a Imperial HQ?

 

I think it's probably obvious now that "something" is being burned...likely a village.

I'm now not sure it's Hoth. What should obviously be Tatooine is Jakku....so....who knows. And honestly, why Hoth? It's more likely that planet in TCW, honestly.

RIght. Notice the Question Mark after Gleeson's name. I was making an assumption.
